To say Vanya's first language isn't English I think he does ok I understood his post fine

The problem is misinformation from Eastern Europeans posting about their Dream machines that they are not using.
I get this on tech/gaming forums all the time.

Most of these guys are using potato pc's in mums house, but have read all about the dream pc's they want to own, so post as 'experts'.

It's a bit irritating for people working in the field to be honest.

I have my dream machine. Plays Overwatch on Epic settings with an I3 6300 and RX 460 and GPU never goes above 55 degrees under load (Asus RX 460 2GB OC £88). Same with Warcraft Legion-plays everything I throw at it with perfectly playable FPS (did a raid test on max settings and never dipped below 50 FPS). Though I do admit I was extremely salty when I discovered my FPS on Starcraft 2 wouldn't go above 60 fps-then I discovered it was because of a Blizzard patch lol.

Granted it won't play the AAA titles recently released at ultra settings-but it still plays them (couldn't care less about graphics quality). Though ofc there's going to be other factors to affect the performance. Being able to play Dragon Age Inquisition at much higher settings is a beautiful sight, along with Skyrim Enhanced Edition. Witcher 3 no problem. All I need to do now is upgrade my I3 CPU.

Thing is there's still some bargain GPU's out there that can be used in a budget system and still play recent titles. My old R7 240 2GB did a sterling job-lasted 3+ years. So I'm keeping that as a backup. The fact that AMD do legacy drivers for cards as old as that one (and in some cases older) is a godsend. I'm not an AMD fanboy though-I go for value be it Intel/Nvidia or AMD (hence my upgrade to an I3 6300 from APU). And I've heard some bad stories from Nvidia fans who are real unhappy and switched to AMD GPU's for various reasons. But both sides will have issues granted.

If both Nvidia and Intel made their prices more realistic they wouldn't keep bleeding customers. Granted not everyone will switch for various reasons, be it hardcore fans of a particular brand or whatever, but it get's irksome hearing people saying to others they shouldn't switch to AMD because "they're trash LUL" or have bad driver support. From my experience it's been great. There's simply not enough people taking the time to research thoroughly before purchasing. I spent 3 months deciding and it's paid off.

Imo the dream machine is a machine that plays the games you want it to play irrespective of brand at the right value.

well my dream pc would cost me 24k and its made by 8pack overkill to the max but if i had the money why not

That's one good thing about my generation (and I cannot believe I just used that phrase :@ ) we just don't care about enthusiast tier PC's. If I was 21 or 22 it would be a much different story. We just see great graphics as a bonus really because we were brought up on Commodore 64's, or Amiga's etc. To us opening up a brand new Commodore 64 on christmas was an absolute dream come true lol. Don't get me wrong I've seen setups that have gaming graphics that look absolutely mindblowing but it's not necessary for people like myself.

But it's amazing how far and how fast graphic quality has evolved. And I do admit-if I had the chance to I would buy a second hand C64. All about that 8 bit power yo :D

God that reminds of the time I couldn't afford the tape version of Armalyte-had to save paper round money for ages which was so hard due to my addiction to C64 games, and buying Real Ghostbusters comics XD

****** racist, what do you have against Eastern Europeans? We are honest, hardworking people.

Plus if I wanted a dream machine I would just go and steal it.

We all havung a reminisce, I'm a bit younger than you old bastards so the commodore passed me by. But the Amiga I was well into that. Some absolutely amazing games god knows how many hours I put into Cannon Fodder as a kid trying to keep my men alive so they could get promoted. Also was the beginning of my relationship with Championship Manager. First one I got was Italia when Lentini had his car accident and was out for ages shame too because going off old videos he seemed to be shaping up to be quite a player at Milan.

Got to agree with gramps though, I think because of my experience with games with ****** graphics it doesn't bother me at all not having a high end machine and being able to play witcher on 4K. Probably explains why I get so immersed in Paradox Grand strategy games over the years. I mena sure they look in good shape now but Hearts of Iron 2 and 3 probably spent 2k hours across both titles and they look like **** with their Nato counters.

Yep, my desktop is usually outdated by about 5 years and I couldn't give less of a ****. Back in a day I used to chase top graphics and hang around with some hardcore overclockers, but I've quit that hobby quite rapidly after I managed to fry the very first machine built with my own money.

Also started with Commodore 64, but I couldn't even tell you what I played on it, in those days we had no legal distribution around here so you had to buy casette tapes with pirated games on a flea market from a shady dude in trenchcoat. Titles of games written down in broken english and often out of order. So main machine was Amiga too.

And yeah Cannon Fodder was insane good. And that music.

Just bought Witcher 3 as it's £17.50 GOTY on XBox one.

FFS, I got Dying light weeks ago for 6 quid and I've not even started it

And God, look at these developers posing with guns in the intro of their game. If someone did that today the shitstorm would be nuclear.

Sorry for acting like a **** last night.
Alcohol and stress don't mix.

Shouldn't be bringing it onto the boards though.

Prepare for a good 100 hours worth of your life to be gone and thats just the first playthrough

Reading through Witcher books at the moment, pretty good, thought I'd best try the game.

But.....I rarely get in the mood to play games these days. Hoping something grabs me

It's shocking mate, I barely play my console yet see something and want it. Far too many unplayed / barely played games on it.

Might do that thing many are doing now and refusing to buy games until they complete most of their back up haha
