Rooney wants to play for England more then he wants to play for Manchester United, he needs England more then he needs Manchester United so don't talk nonsense. Rooney can go to Real Madrid or another top club and win the Champions League, England is the only country he can play for in the World Cup. Every team bigs up their best players, **** pointless thread about nothing in particular. Every England player is doing terrible at the moment so it's irrelevent whether or not Rooney gets called "white Pele".

Tactics or formation had nothing to do with his terrible first touch and passing, pretty much every time Rooney got the ball he gave it away, the buck stops with Rooney for a performance like that. Rooney has contributed to the hype by appearing in ridiculous Nike movies that put him on the same pedestal as Messi and Ronaldo, if he does not want the hype of being Englands saviour then he should not pose in giant posters with the red cross of the England flag painted on his chest. Rooney is not being made a scapegoat, its just that the goals have to come from somewhere and Rooney is not even looking like scoring a goal.

no maradonna is no genius, but he has done with messi what capello hasnt done with rooney. take your star player, and place him where he wants to be and as the focus of the team. messi has been devastating for barca as a withdrawn striker rather than playing the the flank as much, and that is where mardonna has put him

rooney has been devastating as a lone striker. so put him there and give him top class close support from joe cole and gerrard

We've got further than this with the current players in 2006, and we can do it again. Some may of gotten older, like Rooney, but it's not like we've got any players there who cannot do the job we need them to do, bar probably Upson and SWP who better not get a ******* sniff of the first 11 vs Slovenia, all we're not doing is scoring, and just because Rooney is the man who has been getting the goals in the qualifiers, doesn't mean it's all his fault, he needs the supply, and if that isn't there nothings going to work, is it?

The defence is fine, we've conceded one sloppy goal from a mistake. All we need to do is hit the back of the net once or twice vs Slovenia, and we are fine, so stop ******** yourselves and get behind your country instead of blaming 1 player and moaning all the time.

rooney is rubbish and one of the most over rated players in english football (england only)

wtf i have to disagree he might be a manc but after seeing him at old trafford (after we beat them ) i have to say he is a class above what ive seen before his touch and ball control is unreal and his scoring rate for them is very good (even if he couldnt beat us )
