Football is back following the 2020 European Championships! (Won by Spain who beat Greece 2-0 in the Final)

EUROPEAN SUPER CUP
Cardiff City 4-1 Manchester United

View attachment 146642
Meret, Smalling, Ilori, Burke, Bazoer, Cook, Zielinski, Rossiter, Duelund, Oliver (James 64), Perovic

Revenge is a dish best served cold! We banished the memories of our 4-1 dismantling in the Community Shield last season by smashing the seemingly unstoppable European champions Manchester United by 4 goals to one. Cardiff lad Rhys Cook opened the scoring early on before United equalised. We confounded all expectations, however, by going on to attack United and score 3 more against a side featuring Breel Embolo, Andriy Yarmolenko, Danilo, Niklas Sule and Viktor Fischer

Cardiff City 2-0 Everton

Meret, Smalling, Ilori, Burke, Bazoer, Green, Rossiter (Poyet 76), Zielinski, Duelund, Oliver (James 76), Perovic

A solid victory over Everton wrapped up within 20 minutes by two Dusan Perovic goals, a comfortable way to start the league season

What is it with us and Burnley? Its as though they know exactly how to deal with us, it's a strange one

Cardiff City 2-0 Southampton

View attachment 146637
Meret, Bazoer, Burke, Smalling, Rossiter (Ilori 39), Green, Zielinski, Duelund, Angerschmid, Oliver, Perovic (Ings 65)

We left it late against league leaders Southampton but at least we grabbed the three points. We pushed and pushed but seemed unable to score until new signing Reece Burke opened his account for the club with a towering header on 82 minutes. Only 4 minutes later, Zielinski was fouled in the box, giving Mikkel Duelund (Who was playing in midfield today) the opportunity to make it 2-0. An opportunity he took, opening his account for the season in the process

Gutting. Goncalo Guedes (Who started the Europa League final for Benfica) scored in the 88th minute of what had been an even game to consign us to our first defeat of the season. Our strikeforce just wasn't at the races today and couldn't finish anything, still, quite encouraging as it shows we can compete with the best in their own back gardens

7 players made their first appearance of the season today, including young goalkeeper Andy Kyle, who made another Man of the Match performance (His second in his three appearances for the club). Disappointing to lose to our rivals, but this means less fixtures and fresher players, so I don't mind losing

Meret, Smalling, Ilori, Burke (Duelund 45), Grant, Green, Rossiter, Bazoer, Angerschmid, Oliver, Perovic (Ings 69)

A very disappointing loss to Derby in a game we really should have won. We took the lead twice, only for the Rams to hit back with goals of their own, Ogo Obi put in a good performance for them and England Under 20 international Kaylen Hinds hit us on the break with his first goal of the season. Poor.

Well that's one way to end our poor run! Greig Boyle scoring in the third minute of injury time to bag us the three points in what was an evenly contested match. Alex Meret even saved a penalty.

We were very tired as we took on Liverpool at Anfield and it showed, wit the hosts dominating proceedings. We had our chances, however and held on, defending superbly against a Liverpool team including players such as Sergio Aguero and Manolo Gabbiadini. We made similar changes to the ones we made against Spurs and they worked wonders, with us winning the game late on once again

Spent 4 years at Halmstads BK in Sweden, making 91 league appearances for them and scoring 3 goals. In that time he has also accumulated 25 caps for the Brazilian Under 20s. He is 579 days away from qualifying for the Swedish national team. Shall I send him there again so he can play for them?

YOON DAE-DONG

A veteran of Sweden, the Bolivian Bulldog (They don't call him that) made 92 league appearances for Halmstads, scoring 32 goals for the Swedish side (He played on the wing). Some say Jhonny, who has 30 caps and 1 goal for Bolivia, is the only Bolivian to speak fluent Swedish

A 22 year old with 7 caps for Colombia you say? Not bad, he played 87 times for Halmstads, averaging a rating of 7.22 over 4 years in Sweden

Please spare a thought for Olger Gamboa, a 21 year old winger with 26 caps for Costa Rica, who will be entering his fourth season on loan at Halmstads, but this time without his mates

DUO LEAVE BLUEBIRDS

View attachment 144735 View attachment 144733

Cardiff City have today announced the departures of Danny Ings and Diego Poyet on multi million pound deals

First to leave the Bluebirds was Danny Ings, who has joined Serie A leaders Napoli for a fee of £7m.

Ings, who has played for 6 different clubs before joining Napoli, signed for Cardiff from Liverpool for £3.4m in 2019. He went on to make 30 league appearances for the Bluebirds, scoring 12 goals. Ings made 4 league appearances this season, scoring none

Ings, who has cost a total of £38.5m throughout his career, has scored 84 goals in 270 appearances. Scoring goals for Bournemouth, Dorchester, Burnley, Liverpool, Watford and Cardiff.

The second to leave Cardiff was Uruguayan international midfielder, Diego Poyet, who complained to Cardiff manager Matthew Hawkins about a lack of first team football.

Poyet, who joined Cardiff from Chelsea for £8.25m in 2019, has joined Spanish champions FC Barcelona for £20m.

Poyet, 25, made 16 league appearances for Cardiff in his time at the Bluebirds, lifting the Europa League and European Super Cup.

Poyet, who has made 54 appearances for Uruguay, has become Cardiff's record sale by joining Barcelona for £20m

I'm gonna be straight with you, the Welsh team are a mess. We were knocked out of our European Championships group fairly easily, we were smashed by Ireland in the Nations League and then the Welsh FA called me in to make it worse.

A poor start and a poor finish made the result look worse than it was. We matched the Belgains in general play only for a couple of wonder strikes to put us 3 down at the break. We rallied following Yorwerth's own goal, scoring 2 goals in quick succession, only for Romelu Lukaku to make the gap 4 once more with 2 late goals. Gareth Bale's goal made him Wales' record goalscorer with 29 goals for Wales.

For a long time it looked like it just wasn't going to be our night as we dominated the Swiss champions. We tried and tried but just couldn't score. Then we got a red card. Woeful. Somehow, however, dropping to ten men seemed to benefit us as we went on to score 2 goals in the last 15 minutes to beat Basel. Strange one.

We entered the house of fun and returned with all three points! Our trip to "****" was lovely, like a trip to the countryside and we managed to give our fans something to cheer. A pretty tight game saw wing-back Yusuke Nakagawa win it for us

A very disappointing way to lose our unbeaten run in the Champions League but, meh. We racked up 17 shots today but only managed 3 on target which tells you everything you need to know. We played n our change strip of Black and Yellow today, I quite like it

A disappointing end to a good campaign. We battered Galatasaray, having 16 shots and 8 on target (compared to their 5 shots and 2 on target) but we couldn't convert and were punished by the counter-attack in the closing stages. Ironically I was interested in signing Stoyan Trifonov in the summer.

LOAN DEALS THE ORDER OF THE DAY AT CARDIFF CITY

View attachment 144311

Cardiff City have today announced the completion of three loan deals, with two players joining the club and one leaving

Firstly, the Welsh club announced the departure of Albanian striker Donis Avdijaj, who has joined German side VfL Wolfsburg until the end of the season, with the Germans paying the Bluebirds £100,000 per month for his services.
View attachment 144310
The German born star has scored 6 goals in 8 games for Albania

Avdijaj, 24, made 6 league appearances for the Bluebirds this season, scoring none as he played second fiddle to Serbian striker, Dusan Perovic.
View attachment 144309
The Albanian has been known to be outspoken

The deal has come following a breakdown in communications between the striker and manager Matthew Hawkins, who told the German born star he wasn't performing well enough when given the opportunity

Cardiff then announced the signing of two players, both from Premier League sides

First to sign for the Bluebirds was Manchester United defender Aleksandar Dragovic, who has signed to plug a gap in the Bluebirds defence
View attachment 144308
The Austrian defender has made 55 league appearances for United

The Austrian defender, 29, has barely featured for the Red Devils over the past two seasons, making just 6 league appearances as United won back to back titles

The defender, who has 81 caps for Austria, was signed from Dynamo Kyiv for £19m in 2017 and has won 2 Premier League titles and 1 Champions League with United

The second player to join Cardiff was Lewis Cook, who's signed on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season

Cook, 24, joined Chelsea in the summer transfer window from Everton for £19.5m but has been sent out on loan having made just 7 appearances for the Blues

The Yorkshire man, who has won both the Under 19 and Under 21 European Championship titles with England, started his career at boyhood club Leeds, making 183 league appearances for them before being sold to Everton for £7.25m in January 2019

BLUEBIRDS BREAK RECORD

View attachment 143996

Cardiff City have today announced the signing of Timo Werner from Juventus for a club record fee of £12.5m

The signing follows the sale of Danny Ings to Napoli for £7m and the loan of troublesome striker Donis Avdijaj, who's moved to Wolfsburg for the rest of the season

Werner, 24, has joined the Bluebirds after a few tough years in his young career, which have seen him go from highly-rated youngster to another "could have been" in the eyes of most pundits and commentators

Werner's career started at boyhood club VfB Stuttgart, where he scored 49 goals in 159 league appearances. The striker scored 33 goals in 65 league appearances in his last 2 seasons in Germany, prompting Barcelona to end the strikers 16 year affiliation with the club through an offer of £13.5m

Werner scored 2 goals in 19 league appearances for the Catalan side, who he lifted the Spanish Cup with in 2019, he started just on league game for Los Cueles before leaving for Juventus in 2019

Werner scored 6 goals in 19 league appearances in his debut season in Italy having been bought for £18.5m to replace Leo Baptistao and Iago Aspas

Things didn't work out in Turin, however, as he made just 1 substitute appearance in the league this season

Werner hopes Cardiff is where he will turn his career around
