Young Boys need to get a player inbetween Spurs' two banks of four IMO.. They seem to be playing a 4-3-3 with two centre mids, and a deeper, more defensive midfielder behind them, which is fairly pointless, since Modric isn't playing, and neither of Spurs' wingers come inside, their defensive line is generally too deep, which gives Tottenham the chance to give it to Crouch, who is having a very good game by the way, or one of the wingers, who always have space to move into, the wingers need to put more pressure on Assou Ekotto and Corluka, who are both being given the freedom to enter the YB half, and link up with Bale and Lennon respectively. Having a more AMC type player in a similar role to Ozil in the WC, or Nasri against Liverpool a fortnight ago, would help YB keep possession, further up the pitch. YB are certainly playing like the away side, and Spurs shocked them with the early opener, with their defence ball watching, and/or half asleep.

Defoe's goal has to be mentioned.. it was certainly handball, as ITV are keen to point out, but also a marvellous finish, the defender simply stopped, and shouldn't have been outmuscled by Defoe anyway, who seemed more determined to get the ball. Another mistake, another goal, Spurs have kept possession well, and to be fair to them, they don't need any more goals, but they haven't been invincible, and YB started to show at the end of the 1st half, they created a couple of chances, and there were clearly communication problems between Dawson and Gomes.

defoe nice finish nice handball and a cheeky look a the linesman.

No fluidity to Spurs' performance so far, hopefully we will see an improvement in the second half. Need to get Lennon and Bale one on one with the fullbacks more often.

Hope Spurs get Barca in the group if they go through.

Defoe is staying on the pitch. Only substitution is Gomes > Cudicini.

Maybe Defoe will get an hour or so. I can't see him playing the full 90 minutes if he's playing through a pain barrier, especially if we score another.

Good to see Cudacini(sp) back playing football, ive always liked him and he seems like a model professional

they should be playing 4-2-3-1 rather than 4-3-3, get their players in between spurs strata. that will cut off the limited supply spurs have been giving

Game should be over now, but we'll see.

That's what I thought when I was watching Sampdoria .

On Topic - Spurs are dominating !

clear penalty , no doubt about it ..

4-0, all over now.

Crouch hatrick, penalty to top it off.

Full-time: Tottenham Hotspur 4 - 0 Young Boys.

6 - 3 aggregate.

AND THE SPURS GO MARCHING ON.

Good performance tonight. Now we play one of the big guns.

Gareth Bale was sensational yet again with all four assists.
Beast.

4 - 0, but great support from the travelling Young Boys fans :)

good win, spurs were largely comfortable. but i question whether they will make an impact playing 4-4-2, particularly if modric isnt one of the two

agreed. think he now has a real choice to make position wise this season, aim to be a top class, potentially world class fullback, or become ryan giggs mark II?
