I've been a visitor to this forum for many, many years. I've downloaded countless tactics, read stories and advice from other users. I just registered today to say THANK YOU for this tactic. User TotalFootballFan9 created REAVER, which seems to be working great for most people so I was extremely frustrated that it was not working for me. My team would take 25+ shots in every game but could not score if their life depended on it. I once lost a game where I took 37 shots and scored 0 goals. Other team had 3 shots and scored 1. Now, we've all seen results like that from time to time - it is a game, after all! But for me this was week after week, game after game. Then, I ran into your post, downloaded the tactic and it's working like a charm! I'm too lazy to post screenshots but three months into the season, I am still to lose a game with only 2 unlucky ties. My team takes 10-15 shots a game but scores at least 2. Also, I've had 3 games so far where the other team had 0 shots! And it's not like I even have the perfect team to suit this tactic. For example, one of my SS is a player who can only play STC. I started training him in AM-SS but it's still not even orange on his map. Also, he is 17! But, it makes no difference, he scores and assists with the best of them. Anyways, all that to say thank you and keep up the great work. I will definitely have you on my radar for future tactics.

Some attachments to show the good and frustrating side!

First up, the league.
I took over Sutton Utd when they were lingering about in about 22nd place with half the season gone.
This was after becoming champions in Malaysia, but I wanted to take over a club from practically nothing to CL champions over a long term save- obviously!
The first season was all about survival, and getting my finances sorted (500k in debt, overspending on wages (too many oldies) and 0 transfer budget), getting players used to the tactic, and aiming for promotion next season.
The tactic has worked too well in many ways, as we are already in the play-offs!
This was not part of the plan, and has caught me by surprise a bit.

I write this before my play-offs, and you may get a very different post if I end up losing the play-offs! (Kidding, I am not one of *those*)

The 2nd attachment, Macclesfield, shows the frustrating side of the tactic.
I had 4 clear cut chances within the first 15 minutes. I had literally highlight after highlight. Really good chances, 1-1s, open goals, but nothing went in. The irony is I scored from a penalty which came from a nothing. A free kick got drifted in towards the back, and one of my players got a push just inside the box or something. A nothing. But sure enough I scored from it and took the lead. I thought the gates were finally opened and I could win this match, but noooooooooo. A few minutes later, Macclesfield have a corner. After a lot of fumbling in the box (reminds me of my teenage years), their player smashed it in. That's how it stayed. I was actually surprised when i saw they had 3 clear cut chances, I felt that it was a bit generous.
But anyway, that match was my penultimate match, and I was pretty much secured of a PO spot, so was not too disheartened, just frustrated we couldn't claim our spot there and then.

Next up was away to Borehamwood. The first half from ****.
2-0 down early on, and our players seemed to be letting the occasion get to them.
At half time, I gave them the biggest bollocking I could, I switched to attacking, and they came back to win 3-2! I would have been happy with a draw , but the injury time winner was the icing on the cake.

That leads me to thinking that I may have to try attacking a bit more during the home matches, and easier away ones...

Yes I'm Pompey in league 2 but this is still impressive. Kyle Bennett has became a monster and 2 trophy's in the 1st season with an unbeaten league season isn't bad. What makes it more impressive is that the new update was only plugged in for the Newport game on boxing day. My favourite tactic so far this year, well done Veez

Hope you don't mind Veez but I have shared the tactic on the SI Forum. All credit given to you and link back to this thread too.

don't mind at all and appreciate you putting in that work

also immensely appreciate all the great feedback i'm getting from everyone. i knew the tactic was solid but didn't expect this much success and praise

that having been said - i'm always looking to improve!

so i'd also appreciae it if some of you could highlight the short commings you have found, like QuickyFaranger, so that we can try and make ths even better

what i've picked up on so far is definately taking our chances and being efficient. believe the only way to get this down is through PPM's such as place shots. think try to beat off-side trap would be a good one too, as it keeps our SS's on that fringe, instead of deeper when some through balls are sent in.

despite the defense being very solid and conceeding very few goals overall, another issue i have found is that in one or two games, with no warning whatsoever, our defense goes to shambles for a while, where we let in one or two easy goals. want to identify how we are conceeding thse goals to try and find a way of becoming even more solid defensively.

how are your HB ratings? also, are your WB's contributing with assists? i think they can contribute more, just need to find the right combination in terms of cross type and area to cross to

No problem Veez.

I will have a look at those areas too. One thing I did notice is below - We conceded most goals in the last 15mins and I think this goes with the HB position also gets more tired than the others so may need to sub him around 65mins.

Most of my assists have come from through balls particularly down the left flank from the WM that side.

i also added the guidelines you wrote up in the SI forum to my OP as they are spot on :)

who are your wingers on each side? it's strange but i have found the same pattern in some saves despite the tactic being symetrical in terms of instructions

i also usually sub my HB early on as he gets quite a few yellows besides getting tired.

think i might need to create a version to keep posession and control games in the last 15 minutes to avoid conceeding these late goals when the team isn't as balanced - because that is where we get our strength and consistency, the balance within the team holding up the opposition, and catching them out going forward in a very fast and deadly way

Hi again Veez,

Fed up with me yet? ;)

I won the Vanarama Play-Off final 2-0, see attachment.
After scoring early on (35 seconds!), the game was very even. Ie, we both had an even amount of highlights and chances.
York took control just after half time, and it looked iffy.
I made a few subs after 57 minutes. Amongst other things, I brought on a young DM. He isn't so good at half back, so I used him as DM-DE, and switched the mentality to defensive. No other changes were made apart from the subs.
At the time I did that, we were about 6-6 with shots. By the end of the match, I had 14 shots to their 7, and I scored again in 76 minute to pretty much seal the win.
It's just 30 minutes of football, so it will need a bit more testing, but did look rather solid, but it was of course a final, and they are always a little bit different.
Maybe food for thought though in regards for a seeing out a match?

I mainly used Gouffran and Ritchie on the right and Atsu and Schlupp (signed in the January window) on the left. Before Schlup I used Lazaar there who was very good.

I have started experimenting with switching to contain for the last 15mins when I have the lead to see how that goes.
