World Cup Qualifying

So we had 2 qualifying games this month...

Finland vs Spain

View attachment 396676

MOTM: David De Gea (Spain)

We were the much better side as you can see and completed dominated Finland, we really should have won this a lot more comfortably. But still glad my first game in charge was a win!

------------------------------

Spain vs Romania

View attachment 396675

MOTM: Isco (Spain)

So yet another dominant display from us and we actually managed to score a decent amount of goals this time! We definitely deserved to win and I think Romania probably did deserve 1 goal.

------------------------------

Group

View attachment 396674

So after 2 games we sit top of the group! 2 wins out of 2 and we should easily be able to beat the other teams we have to play! We should definitely be easily qualifying through this group.

So some good and some bad results...

View attachment 396484

MOTM: Jonathan Tah (Newcastle United)

So clearly we got lucky with winning this as it was an own goal, but to be honest we should have won it a lot more easily than that as we were the better team but we just couldn't hit the target! (2 of 17 on target) But still, we got the win!

------------------------------

View attachment 396483

View attachment 396482

MOTM: Lucas Romero (Newcastle United)

Very easy win and good start to the Champions League with a dominant display, could be disappointed that we didn't win by more we were that good!

------------------------------

View attachment 396481

View attachment 396480

MOTM: Ramires (Chelsea)

Very action packed game as you can see and to be honest it could have gone either way! Up until the red card we were the much better side and should have scored before that but after the red we were lucky to get the draw! Still a good result in my opinion though!

------------------------------

View attachment 396479

View attachment 396478

MOTM: Olivier Giroud (Arsenal)

Just dont know what happened as even though we were probably the slightly better side, Arsenal actually took advantage of their chances and made them count! Wasn't too bothered about the Capital One Cup anyway really so suppose it is a distraction away from the bigger cups and league!

------------------------------

View attachment 396477

View attachment 396476

MOTM: Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle United)

What a first half! Absolutely incredible game with 7 goals in the 1st half! No idea how there weren't any goals in the 2nd half but still glad we came out with the win!

------------------------------

View attachment 396475

View attachment 396474

MOTM: Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle United)

We should have won this a lot more comfortably as we completely outplayed Sporting but we just couldn't finish again! Hope that isn't going to be a regular problem this season!

------------------------------

League

View attachment 396472

So we still had a good month in the league with 2 wins and a draw and we are still top, we are joint top but we still have a game in hand so things are still looking good! Interesting to see Liverpool and Spurs right down near the bottom!

Champions League

View attachment 396469

Well looks like this group is going to be over very soon at this rate! Us and Barcelona running away with it already and it seems it is now just going to be a race between us 2 to see who can get 1st... we play them next as well!

So the frenchman showed why I should still have some faith in him even though he is nearly in his 30's as he has a very good month with 3 goals, an assist and 2 Man of the Match awards! He is making it hard for me to want to sell him now!

Friendly & World Cup Qualifying

We had a Friendly game and also a World Cup Qualifying game this month

Spain vs Japan
Friendly

View attachment 395908

MOTM: Diego Costa (Spain)

Diego Costa and Isco both absolutely destroyed Japan as we demolished them and got the very dominant win we definitely deserved.

------------------------------

Isreal vs Spain
World Cup Qualifier

View attachment 395907

MOTM: Cesc Fabregas (Spain)

We continue to demolish in the Qualifiers as we were the much better side and to be honest we could have easily won by more!

View attachment 395905

Don't think we have anything to worry about already as we move 3 points clear and any team we play we are easily the better side, we are definitely be going to be qualifying comfortably!

Perfect Month!

------------------------------

View attachment 395630

View attachment 395629

MOTM: Ryan Gauld (Newcastle United)

I just could not believe this result... we absolutely destroyed Liverpool and right from the off we controlled the game and they never had a chance

------------------------------

View attachment 395627

View attachment 395626

MOTM: Lucas Romero (Newcastle United)

This has to have been the dirtiest game I have managed us in so far... 9 yellow cards and 2 reds with 36 fouls! West Ham were the dirtiest as you can see though as they committed 27 fouls! Glad we still managed to win this though very well and also to come away with no injuries is a miracle!

------------------------------

View attachment 395624

View attachment 395623

MOTM: Javier Mascherano (Barcelona)

We could have won this a lot more comfortably as we outplayed Barcelona and they were lucky that they only conceded once!

------------------------------

View attachment 395622

View attachment 395621

MOTM: Kevin Volland (Newcastle United)

Even after the red card we were still the better team and I am glad we were able to push on and manage to get the win with 2 late goals!

------------------------------

View attachment 395618

View attachment 395617

MOTM: Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle United)

Southampton just did not show up today as they managed to have just 1 shot all game and just 39% possession, it is quite easy to see that we definitely deserved this win and could have easily scored 4 or 5.

------------------------------

League

View attachment 395614

So with a perfect month in the league we are just top by only 1 point, but it is good to see Volland top of the scorers, and also both Sterling and Barkley on the assists!

With the perfect month I was of course awarded this....

View attachment 395613

Another Manager of the Month award to add to the collection! My 5th as manager of Newcastle!

Champions League

View attachment 395611

So half way through the group we have 3 wins out of 3 and sit top of the group by 3 points, can't see us messing up and not qualifying now!

World Cup Qualifying & Friendly
November

We had a world cup qualifier game and also a friendly this month with Spain!

Spain vs Finland

World Cup Qualifier

View attachment 395599

MOTM: Marc Bartra (Spain)

Think we should have really got more than a 2-0 win, really expected us to get at least 3 but still, we won, so cannot complain!

------------------------------

Czech Republic vs Spain

Friendly

View attachment 395598

MOTM: Inigo Martinez (Spain)

This is more like it! How I expected the last game to go so I am glad to see we can win games as strong as we are supposed to! Good way to end the year with Spain as this is the last International fixture of 2016.

------------------------------

Group

View attachment 395596

So we reach the half way point of the qualifiers and we sit top of the group 6 points clear having not lost a game... yeah we really will be qualifying unless we seriously mess it up and somehow lose all our remaining games... cannot see that happening though!

Love the story, mate!

Can I see a screenshot of Kevin Volland, as I have him on my save and I would like to see how he has developed for you. Thanks

Kevin Volland

View attachment 395192

Quite easily one of my favourite players I have ever used on this game! Such a good striker and with also being able to play as an attacking forward in every position he can contribute from everywhere!

As you can see he has already scored 14 goals in 18 appearances which to be honest is just what I expect from him now as he has been doing it for the past 2 seasons!

Excellent player and I very highly recommend him!

Poor start but an excellent incredible finish!

------------------------------

View attachment 395187

View attachment 395186

MOTM: Viktor Fischer (Barcelona)

We probably did deserve to lose this as although the game was pretty even we just could not get our shots on target, and Barcelona rightly punished us for it.

------------------------------

View attachment 395185

View attachment 395184

MOTM: Ashley Williams (Swansea City)

Not quite sure how we didn't win this as we were incredible in this but we just couldn't finish again! Hope this doesn't continue...

------------------------------

View attachment 395183

View attachment 395182

MOTM: Raheem Sterling (Newcastle United)

Great win! But to be honest we could have actually quite easily won this by a lot more! We had 31 shots and just 17 on target... imagine if we could actually get the majority of our shots on target!

------------------------------

View attachment 395181

View attachment 395180

MOTM: Ravel Morrison (Newcastle United)

This is exactly what I meant! We had about the same shots and shots on target as last game (33 & 16) but this time we just seemed to be able to finish a lot more accurately! Incredible win!

------------------------------

View attachment 395179

View attachment 395178

MOTM: Ross Barkley (Newcastle United)

Another incredible performance this month as we tore Arsenal apart and really restricted them from playing this game as they could only manage 3 shots and 44% possession! Nicely done Barkley!

------------------------------

View attachment 395177

View attachment 395176

MOTM: Ryan Gauld (Newcastle United)

I genuinely think that we can go on and be unbeatable if we keep this form up! 4 games, 21 goals, just 1 conceded, and yet another game where we managed more than 30 shots! Loving it!

------------------------------

League

View attachment 395175

So the incredible month has now allowed us to move 3 points clear at the top of the table and we still remain unbeaten in the league and if we really keep up this great form we could easily finish the league season unbeaten!

Champions League

View attachment 395174

Even with us losing to Barcelona, the incredible wins against Sporting and APOEL have meant hat that we qualify in 1st, 2 points clear of Barcelona and 9 points clear of 3rd... qualification was never in doubt!

Lucas Romero

The argentinian midfield maestro had yet another incredible month for us as he contributes with 2 goals and is quite quickly becoming one of my favourite players at this club!

2 months in a row he has got this!

Tactics

So there is only 1 tactic I use...

View attachment 395172

This is the tactic that I have used for what has to be at least 95% of the games in this save... it is just so good and it is also known as the shots galore tactic!

I have always liked this formation and use it the majority of the time, I just tend to tweak it to the players that play, such as I will change the role they play to the players strongest and if my assistant makes tactical recommendations during a match I will most often make them.

Whats so good about this tactic is that it easily closes down the opponent and gives them no time on the ball, and also makes it so that we tend to dominate the majority of games and get a **** of a lot of shots on target!

This is my own tactic which I made and if people want me to upload it so they can try it out just ask! :)

how effective is kovacic as a bwm for you? surely you would be better off playing him as a playmaker, or even a box to box midfielder? and could you upload the tactic, i would love to try it out :)

Unfortunately he hasn't actually played that much for me this season due to being injured so that position is actually set for Sissoko at the moment! When he does play for me he usually plays amc or I do change that position to suit him (box to box).

Yeah here you go :)

Some more very good performances from us but unfortunately the possibility for an unbeaten league season is now over.

-----
-------------------------

View attachment 394721

View attachment 394720

MOTM: Danny Welbeck (Newcastle United)

We weren't actually much stronger than Leicester this game and we only won really due to us actually being able to take our better chances this game!

------------------------------

View attachment 394719

View attachment 394718

MOTM: Jake Livermore (Fulham)

Quite disappointed with this that we had to rely on a last minute goal to get just a point, when we were the much better side and should have come away with a comfortable win.

------------------------------

View attachment 394717

View attachment 394716

MOTM: Ross Barkley (Newcastle United)

So Barkley came back to haunt his former team in a game which Everton will be disappointed with as they probably deserved at least a draw from it is as it was quite an even game.

------------------------------

View attachment 394711

View attachment 394710

MOTM: Davide Santon (Newcastle United)

Another player haunts his former team as Morrison scored the winner in a tight game with quite a lot of action which Utd will probably feel hard done by as they should have really got a draw.

------------------------------

View attachment 394708

View attachment 394707

MOTM: Lucas Romero (Newcastle United)

Oooo I do like having Sunderland back in the Premier League... purely because we get to destroy them! No questions here as we get the very dominant and comfortable win we deserve, just quite surprised we didn't score any in the 2nd half!

------------------------------

View attachment 394701

View attachment 394699

MOTM: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa)

God dammit. Our unbeaten run of 19 games in the Premier League comes to an end as also does our chance for going unbeaten in the league as we get a loss we didn't deserve as I believe we did at least enough to get a draw.

------------------------------

League

View attachment 394698

So even with a loss and a draw, because we beat Man Utd we have now extended our lead at the top to 8 points and I really cannot see us messing this up now and I am sure we are going to be able to retain the league!

Champions League

View attachment 394697

So the first knockout round draw has been made and we will be facing Gladbach! I have to admit they are probably the easiest team we could have drawn and I am sure we will get a confident win and will be through to the next round with ease!

He is just incredible as I give it to him for the 3rd month in a row as he scores 1 goal, but gets 2 assists and a Man of the Match award. I would not be surprised if we see interest in him in January but he is definitely NOT for sale, at any price!

------------------------------

Awards

End of the year awards have been announced and we have 2 players involved...

First of all...

European Golden Boy

View attachment 394695

Ryan Gauld

Gauld wins European Golden Boy which as you can see he definitely deserved for setting up 22 goals in 32 games which is just incredible!

Did have some interest in him in the summer but everything was knocked back, and any interest in January will also be knocked back!

World Team of the Year

View attachment 394694

Lucas Romero

He just does not stop impressing me and everyone else clearly! Only 1 of our players to make it into the Team of the Year and after how he has been playing it does not surprise me!

Hi Adam - great to see the NUFC save going strong. Please keep the updates coming. One question re. your tactics, do you have to make any tweaks at the start of the new season, or do you literally treat it as a plug and play? I'm playing with a similar formation and had to take make tweaks as the match engine caught up at the start of the new seasons but currently can't seem to find the right balance.

Cheers, I definitely will be... this is a save I am going to keep going for as long as I can! :)

Usually all I tweak is the player roles people play, so I would usually put a player in a position, then change his player role to which suits him best, but it can sometimes take a few games to kick in, which is why when I tend to start a game I start it in June so the squad gets the most time to adapt to the new tactic.

I mean, I have had a couple of saves where it just doesn't work at all, sometimes it just depends on the level of the players you have, such as the Crawley manager story I did, the squad would just not work with my tactic, where as my Newcastle one, as you can tell they just destroy everyone.

Its just a matter of tweaking it to every individual players strengths in my case :)

January Transfer Window

Transfer timeeee!!! We weren't given much money so I basically had to sell players to be able to bring anyone in during this window, and luckily there were a few players who wanted to go/I wanted to sell!

View attachment 394411

Players Out

So you can see that we let Denswil go... could have been a bad decision but its not, as we had a replacement coming in who is more than capable of stepping up, and saying we bought him for 3.5 Million... not gonna complain about that much profit! Allowed Bentaleb out on loan as I had a better player in mind to bring in. Welbeck was allowed to leave for the same reason, and also he has stopped growing and isn't of the quality I thought he would be, controversial move though! Baumann was never going to play for us again with us having Rulli as back up so glad we got 5 million.

Players In

Some incredibly good young players have come!

So first of all the deal we finalised in the summer has finally come through! Good replacement for Denswil.

View attachment 394409

Alejandro Jair Trevino

An excellent young player who I cannot wait to see play! He will be featuring as a back up player for now alongside Tah, which is an excellent partnership I am sure!

------------------------------

Next coming in was the player to replace Bentaleb who has gone out on loan.

View attachment 394408

Goran Kostic

Wow... I am sure he is definitely on the level of Kovacic and Romero and looks like he is going to be an amazing player! Had to fight with Barcelona to get him but he came to us!

------------------------------

Now for the replacement for Welbeck...

View attachment 394407

View attachment 394406

Donis Avdijaj

Another good young striker to provide back up to Volland, and I am sure like Zivkovic, he will be a great player for us in the future!

------------------------------

Summary

So incredibly pleased with these signings, especially with Kostic as I didn't realise how good he actually already is! So here is the squad we now have:

View attachment 394405

You can just see the amount of quality we have in this team!

We have some incredible players to be able to put up an incredible first team, but also have amazing players to be able to put out a strong back up side! The only position I think we may need to bring someone in for is RB, maybe, but I am still very happy with Mayke and Peruzzi!

------------------------------

Other Transfers

January

View attachment 394404

So we were the team making the biggest transfer of this window with Avdijaj... but Man Utd spent 49.5 Million on 2 players. BUT! Bayern brought in players for a combined, 94.25 Million... jesus christ! Some of those players do look very good though! Eriksen, Bernard, Bakkali, Sule... wish I had a couple of them to be honest!

February

View attachment 394402

So this was just last minute transfers for other windows with Jefferson Montero leaving Villa for PSV for 9 Million.

View attachment 393883
January

View attachment 393882

So as you can see the month was going well but we got unlucky in the last 2 games.

------------------------------

View attachment 393880

View attachment 393879

MOTM: Jonathan Tah (Newcastle United)

To be honest, I am quite disappointed with how this game went as we were the much better side and completely dominated the game and really should have recorded a comfortable victory and had to rely on a penalty to win.

------------------------------

View attachment 393874

View attachment 393873

MOTM: Mateo Kovacic (Newcastle United)

So even though we got a good win we should have been able to score a lot more as we had 28 shots and they had just 3 shots and 37% possession so we really could have got at least 5 in my opinion. Through to play Norwich City in the next round.

------------------------------

View attachment 393866

View attachment 393864

MOTM: Ryan Gauld (Newcastle United)

So we clearly got off to an incredible start and controlled the game for the majority of it, seemed to back off a bit in the last 20 minutes and Stoke took full advantage and they did have chances to get the draw.

------------------------------

View attachment 393838

View attachment 393837

MOTM: Alen Halilovic (Newcastle United)

Yeah can quite clearly see how much we battered Cardiff this game... they had no chance and was good to see that all 5 goals were different scorers!

------------------------------

View attachment 393829

View attachment 393827

MOTM: Ravel Morrison (Newcastle United)

Morrison was incredible this game as he completely outclassed Norwich all by himself in yet another dominant performance from us! Kind of getting to the point where its normal for us to dominate!

------------------------------

View attachment 393823

View attachment 393822

MOTM: Mario Mandzuckic (Tottenham Hotspur)

Quite disappointed we didn't get at least a point here as we were just the better side but it didn't help we had 2 goals called for offside, when 1 of them definitely wasn't!

------------------------------

View attachment 393819

View attachment 393818

MOTM: David Luiz (Chelsea)

So we deserved at least a point from this as it was quite an even game, put yet again our poor accuracy in front of goal punished us as we managed just 4 of our 13 shots on target.

------------------------------

League

View attachment 393816

So even with the 2 losses we are still 5 points clear of Man Utd, but they do have a game in hand so if they win that it will be just 2 points and put more pressure on us!

Best Player of January

View attachment 393813

Barkley was injured at the start of the month for 3 weeks and Morrison has stepped in and seriously put pressure on first choice for this position as he scores 7 in 7! Multiple assists alongside as well as he has an incredible month!

------------------------------

View attachment 393711

View attachment 393710

MOTM: Alvaro Dominguez (Gladbach)

Before the game I would have gladly taken a draw but after this game I have no idea how we didn't get the win as we controlled the game and dominated them, and the fact they had 2 red cards made me even more disappointed.

------------------------------

View attachment 393708

View attachment 393706

MOTM: Jonathan Tah (Newcastle United)

Even though we got the win, we should have won this by a lot more as Bradford were poor and of course we were all over them. We now will be playing away at Man Utd in the next round!

------------------------------

View attachment 393705

View attachment 393704

MOTM: Alen Halilovic (Newcastle United)

Not quite sure how we managed to score 2 goals as our finishing was appalling this game as we managed just 3 of our 14 shots on target, so in that aspect I suppose I should be pleased we got the win.

------------------------------

View attachment 393701

View attachment 393700

MOTM: Mayke (Newcastle United)

We did quite well to win this game, as it was quite even and end to end for the majority of it, so on another day Southampton could have easily win this!

------------------------------

View attachment 393703

View attachment 393702

MOTM: Mayke (Newcastle United)

An absolutely incredible performance! 35 shots for us, 3 for West Brom, and we also managed 62% possession so West Brom really were completely outplayed and we could have probably got at least 5 goals if our finishing was a bit better!

------------------------------

League

View attachment 393699

So some results went our way and our excellent form continuing has now meant we are now 9 points clear of Chelsea and Man Utd, with us also having a game in hand on Chelsea!

Also good to see so many players doing well, Volland joint top goalscorer, Morrison and Romero with the top 2 best average ratings and Romero also on the assists top 4!

For the excellent month I also got another one of these!
