I've moved clubs on this save but would anybody be interested in me continuing this thread?

I'm now managing Tottenham Hotspur but haven't really played the save since I left Newcastle, not sure if I can rename the thread or not?

Let me know, if I get some decent feedback from you guys I'll return to this thread!

Re-Capping The 2017/18 Season
Due to the fact that I took a break from the story, let me now guide you through what happened following my final update.

f35f7c5f58.jpg

Here is a look at the fixtures played after I started my break from this thread, you may have spotted that we did indeed lose in two Finals, the Capital One Cup Final to Manchester United and the Europa League Final to Tottenham Hotspur but in the league we performed very well, a couple of shock defeats here and there but nothing too disgraceful.

7e1ffb111d.jpg

Our impressive league form saw us finish in 4th place to confirm another season of Champions League Football (You may have noticed the blue writing, ignore that for now!), with Chelsea once again winning the title. Down at the bottom West Bromwich Albion were relegated as Frank Lampard failed to steady a sinking ship, they will be joined in the Championship next year by West Ham United and Burnley.

We were beaten fair and square in the League Cup Final, we didn't play and ultimately we failed to contain United's offence with Ander Herrera bagging his first two goals of the season to add to my trophyless misery.

Will Clement Ever Bring in a Trophy?

We were much more unlucky in the Europa League Final, despite Tottenham Hotspur being the dominant team we defended very well but ultimately the tired legs in Extra-Time saw us fall to a late winner from Irish international Harry Kane, absolutely sickening.

Ultimately that's now 3 Finals and 3 runners-up medals in my time at Newcastle.

Paul Clement Resigns from Newcastle United

View attachment 305776

Newcastle United have today released a statement announcing the resignation of Manager Paul Clement, it is believed that a heated discussion with owner Mike Ashley lead to the Englishman relieving himself of his duties at St. James' Park in what has shaken Newcastle United fans across the World.

_69762367_69762366.jpg

Paul Clement took the position as Newcastle United manager back in 2014/15 when he was brought in to replace the outgoing Alan Pardew, Clement has since brought the club back into Europe as well as reaching 3 Finals, but it is believed that Mike Ashley was disappointed at the failure to bring home the silverware.

Clement, 36 won Barclays Manager of the Year in 2015/16 and has performed above expectations since his arrival at St. James' Park, he has single handedly re-branded the club with a unique style of Football as well as developing some of the fine young talent from around the world.

While Clement has currently refused to comment on his side of the story it is believed that Newcastle United have already began looking for a new Manager, with Welshman Mark Hughes top of the list.

But what does the future hold for Paul Clement?

Mark Hughes wasted no time in expressing his joy to the BBC journalists.

BBC Sport Journalist: "So Mark, how does it feel to be the new Newcastle United manager?"

M.Hughes: "It's fantastic and definitely surprising, Paul did a great job of rebuilding this club but we need to start afresh now, there's still a lot of work to be done."

BBC Sport Journalist: "Have you been told any insight as to why Paul chose to resign?"

M.Hughes: "With all due respect that's not really my business, I'm here to do a job, a job which I have been trusted with. But that's it."

I know this update from last season is brief, so please feel free to ask if there's anything else you would like to know about!

With the move to a new Club, it's important that I get to know the background of the team I'll be managing for the forseeable future, so just who are Tottenham Hotspur?

(Information given is as of the year 2017/18 (In game))

Club History

Tottenham Hotspur were founded back in 1882, fierce rivals to Arsenal the North London side have been in the shadows of their rivals for the past few decades, some may even argue that they've always been in the shadow.

d3acac81d06cd7d9be4f03ac51eb7c77.png

Having played their home matches at White Hart Lane since 1899 the club now play at the newly built New White Hart Lane which boasts a capacity of 56,250 which is 20,000 more than the previous stadium could hold. A symbol of the clubs ambition to succeed.

b8b7535995c70019419201cf5f6d40f1.png

The Club boast a very large trophy cabinet in which they have stored a total of 24 trophies, 4 of which are from European competitions.

However the Barclays Premier League has always eluded Tottenham's reach with their previous title victory coming back in 1961.

But how have Tottenham fared in recent years?

5ab38a1b30.jpg

Domestically Tottenham have failed to break into the top 4 since the 2011/12 campaign, the highest finish in the past half decade was a 5th place finish achieved in 2016/17.

Can I help the North London club to break into the top 4?

Youth Development

b2e8660ae8.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur have recently opened a brand new facility where they hope to develop not only current talent, but future talent as well.

In previous years we've seen players like Harry Kane come through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur with the Irishman recently bagging the winner in the Europa League Final.

2e6cb5f85d.jpg

During my time here I hope to develop my own set of talent with the use of the academy, having seen it work so successfully with Adam Quinn at Newcastle United I'm hopeful that I can achieve it here, at my new home.

88a0a8eaa5.jpg

The use of affiliate clubs will also help us to develop talent, with the likes of our feeder clubs (Swindon, Preston etc.) able to take our young talent on loan to offer the young players some valuable minutes on the pitch.

Our links to Brazil allow us to have a good view on upcoming talent in South America with Real Madrid allowing us to bring in extra revenue through merchandise.

I'm very happy with the set-up here at Tottenham.

Great detail as ever! Any Newcastle players you've considered to rejoin you?

Pre-Season

a0da525f30.jpg

The pre-season went well, although I can only take credit for the final two matches as I was hired one day before the trip to Valladolid, but we went unbeaten and looked very good.

It's a new squad here at my disposal and it's going to take me a while to figure out how to get the team playing the most productive Football, but this is a promising start!

cc36363fc7.jpg

Before leaving the club for Juventus, Pochettino had already started to build for the upcoming season and as such he made a couple of signings, so that's something else I have to work with.

As a fan of promoting English talent I'm delighted to have Wilfried Zaha at my disposal although Tomas Kalas is questionable, he seems competent but I wouldn't say he's the player I'd have brought for defensive cover.

Richairo Zivkovic is the BIG signing, £27m from Ajax..He's a proven goalscorer in the Eredivisie but this is a big step-up for the Dutchman, with Harry Kane battling for that #9 spot it's going to be an interesting season but I can't complain with the options at my disposal.

d0e5f44f77.jpg

However Pochettino did sell two-time Young Player of the Year winner Pavel Savitskiy to Spanish Giants Real Madrid for £31,000,000..I'm disappointed as I'd have liked to have managed the young Belorussian but I do accept that they received a very good sum for his services.

I still need to bring in a left-back and a more defensive minded midfielder, with Moussa Dembele looking to leave I need to make sure that I have enough depth in the middle of the park.

Barcelona Win UEFA Super Cup

e57b1d95c2999cdc60a6ff3641fd2196.png

Barcelona have once again lifted the UEFA Super Cup following a 3-2 victory over Europa League Winners Tottenham Hotspur in Bologna.

Tottenham debutant Richairo Zivkovic opened and ended the scoring on his first appearance for the club with Barcelona finding the net through Gerard Piqué, Ivan Rakitic and Sergi Samper.

A bitter pill for Tottenham to swallow but Barcelona proved once again that they're the best team in Europe.

e9d4c85624f41e69c9630fe0b463034a.png

This game was certainly a firey encounter, both teams playing some lovely attacking Football but ultimately the two goal cushion Barcelona built up proved to be too much for us to pull-back, but I'm used to not winning trophies.

That's now 4 defeats in 4 Finals..If you can count the Super Cup as a Final.

But we've got a tough start coming up with games against Everton, Chelsea and Manchester United so we can't afford to dwell on this defeat, it's straight back to training!

Great detail as ever! Any Newcastle players you've considered to rejoin you?

Not sure I can see that happening, but I'd love to bring Sarabia in! Adam Quinn is another player I'd love to have with me but I feel the price would be too high to pay for his services, I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for an opportunity to ****** up some ex-players. :D

Dembele in Cross London Switch

Mousa-Dembele_2849960.jpg

Moussa Dembele has today completed his move to Queens Park Rangers in a deal reported to be worth £3.9m, Dembele found it tough to break into the squad last season and with the club looking to build a younger squad the Belgian has been moved on.

1c2cbf8afdcc406fdba619bfc4fab9a9.png

Don't get me wrong, Dembele is a great player and one I rate highly in real life, but he's 31 now meaning he's not got the skill that he once had. Dembele didn't manage a single appearance last season and with another season of replicating that on the horizon I decided to move him on for the good of his career.

He's also an advanced playmaker, a position we currently have a lot of depth in.

I wish him the best of luck at QPR.

Clement Secures First Tottenham Victory

Tottenham Hotspur secured their first win of the season on the opening weekend against Everton at Goodison Park, the match which was under the spotlight for being Paul Clement's first at the club.

Things couldn't have started better for the Englishman as his side took a 1-0 lead through Slovenian winger Kevin Kampl, a wonderfully worked goal as Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen threaded the needle to pick out the yougn winger who chipped the ball over the rushing veteran Tim Howard.

Romanian defender Vlad Chiriches doubled the visitors advantage when he fired home from 20 yards following a well worked set piece, a poorly cleared ball dropped at the defenders feet before being fired past Tim Howard into the bottom right hand corner.

Everton pulled one back with 20 minutes to play when former Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren rose above the Tottenham defence to guide his header past Hugo Lloris, a wonderful goal from the Croatian centre-half.

However Tottenham's defence held strong despite the late pressure to bring home their first 3 points of the season.

A great all around performance from the North London side.

Results Across the League

fb562a019cd8b519078e05f58f3511f6.png

My old side Newcastle United bagged a comfortable 4-1 win over Fulham with Carlos really starting to settle in with the Magpies, I'll be keeping an eye on their results throughout the year.

Elsewhere the only real shocks were both Manchester clubs being held to a draw, but most teams had routine victories. Newly promoted Derby picked up a big win away from home at Brentford.

But overall it's been an action-packed start to the 2018/19 campaign!

Capital One Cup 3rd Round Draw

Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Championship side Sheffield United in the 3rd round of the Capital One Cup.

Tottenham last won the League Cup in 2017 and will be hoping to secure another piece of silverware, but Sheffield United are no pushovers themselves.

The match will be played on Tuesday 25th September, 2018 at 19:45.

Goal-fest at New White Hart Lane

An enthralling counter at New White Hart Lane saw Tottenham Hotspur draw 3-3 against Premier League Champions Chelsea.

Vlad Chiriches bagged his 2nd goal in 2 games when he fired Tottenham into the lead before Richairo Zivkovic netted his first of the season to double the home sides advantage.

However, the Blues showed their title winning form when they pulled one back through Colombian winger Juan Cuadrado before William Carvalho sliced into his own net to put the away side back on level terms.

Christian Eriksen put the hosts back in front after 78 minutes, a wonderfully curled free-kick that nestled into the top corner out of Thibaut Courtois' reach, the crowd exploded into excitement.

But dreams were dashed as Diego Costa seized on Chiriches' mistake to find a late equaliser for the Blues, netting in the 91st minute.

A disappointing finish for Spurs but Paul Clement will take a lot of joy in his sides overall performance.

Champions League Group Stage Draw

UEFA_Champions_League_Logo.png

1a54e7ea40.jpg

Following Tottenham's Europa League Victory last season we were drawn into the group stage of the Champions League as a second seeded team. As you can see we were drawn into Group B alongside UCL holders Barcelona, Olympiakos and Krasnodar.

With the expectation set at reaching the Quarter-Final we'll be looking to finish in the top two of this group, which will by no means be easy!

Deadline Day Deals for Tottenham

Junior+Malanda+Cardiff+City+v+Wolfsburg+otfZE36Ijfyl.jpg

Tottenham Hotspur have today confirmed the deadline day signing of Junior Malanda from Wolfsburg for £8.5m, Malanda, a Belgian international has a strong standing in the game as one of the best young defensive midfielders in the modern game and Spurs fans will be delighted with the signing.

b9b5cbf00b780f0b99ef87e8a1eaa707.png

Malanda is set to bolster the strength of Tottenham's midfield.

(Hopefully this deal doesn't offend anyone, I too am deeply saddened by the passing of Junior Malanda but feel this is a great way to honour him)

Grimaldo Joins on Loan

n_f_c_barcelona_alejandro_grimaldo_garcia-5229331.jpg

Tottenham have also agreed a deal to bring in Barcelona youngster Alex Grimaldo on loan until the end of the season.

412f46c37f2ecdfd93e438fd3986c08f.png

With Tottenham currently lacking depth down the left side of their defence it is believed that Alex Grimaldo will bring a bit more of an offensive edge to their wide-play.

Other BPL Deals

With Deadline Day having just passed, here's a look at some of the major transfers in the BPL throughout the Summer window.

(Only transfers worth over £10m are shown)

The Squad

This will be our squad for the first half of the 2018/19 campaign, we have a lot of strength in the team especially in the attacking areas, I have a good feeling about this season!

A lot of money spent, but a lot of money brought in.

Overall I'm happy with our business this Summer, I feel our squad is much stronger than the squad from last year, hopefully these signings will pay off!

Thought it would be a good idea to throw in a twist, hopefully you're not too disheartened as a Newcastle fan! Just helps to keep the story fresh, my lack of silverware was frustrating!
