Newcastle United failed to contain the attacking power of Manchester United as the Red Devils pushed aside the Magpies in a 2-0 victory.

Radamel Falcao bagged a 2nd half brace to secure the points for the Manchester side as they managed to shut-out Newcastle despite their 12 shots on goal.

Falcao's first goal was scored mid-way into the 2nd half following a sublime piece of build up play from the league leaders before he latched onto Romelu Lukaku's pass to fire the ball past Dutch goalkeeper Tim Krul.

With Newcastle desperately looking for the equaliser the Colombian then headed a counter-attack which resulted in the 2nd goal being scored, a cross whipped in from the right hand side with Falcao beating van Dijk in an aerial battle to guide the ball past Tim Krul once again.

Radamel Falcao has now scored 20 league goals in 19 league matches, an astonishing season from the Colombian as he looks to bring the League Title to Old Trafford once again.

Thanks man, means a lot seeing positive feedback! You should definitely play as Newcastle United, it's a difficult task as they're nowhere near as good as the top 4 teams but it's a good challenge! Football Manager isn't all about winning trophies, after all. :)

Newcastle United today returned to winning ways as they produced a 2-0 home win over Crystal Palace at St. James' Park.

Argentinian midfielder Gastón Gil Romero opened the scoring minutes into the 2nd half when he rifled the ball past Wayne Hennessy from 20 yards after Emmanuel Mas' defensive header fell straight at the feet of the 24 year old, a fine goal.

Newcastle United doubled the scoring after 74 minutes when Hatem Ben Arfa picked the ball up on the right hand side of the field before bursting into the box with a rush of pace, gliding pat defenders as they attempted the challenge only to be left in the wake of the Frenchman's dazzling feet.

After reaching the edge of the penalty area the 31 year old then curled the ball past the Welsh goalkeeper with the outside of his right boot, a wonderful goal scored in typical Ben Arfa fashion, a well deserved victory for the Toon.

A wonderful goal from the Newcastle player, he may be in his 30s but he's still got the flair he's so famously known for.

I know what you mean. My current save is with Bolton (My Team) who I've got well established as a mid table team in the Prem but feel like I need a break from it!

van Dijk Signs New Contract

Newcastle United's Dutch defender Virgil van Dijk has today penned a new contract that will see him stay at St. James' Park until 2022, a 4 year extension on his current deal.

van Dijk who signed for the Magpies from Celtic in 2014 has become a fan favourite and has since earned multiple International caps for his country, which now stands at 16.

With many of Europe's best clubs swooping in for the 26 year old it is believed that Paul Clement was keen to tie the Dutchman to a long-term deal with the club in a bid to ward off any potential bids for the central defender.

According to GOAL sources it is believed that van Dijk's new wage offered will be around the £60,000 a week mark, which would be a £25,000 increase on his previous deal.

You've done well with Bolton! I've struggled with Championship management this year, only managed to finish mid-table with Milwall! (2 years running), but this save has been fun...Writing about it seems to keep me more interested in the save, which is always a good thing!

Unlucky against Man United but a great win over Crystal Palace :) and nice to see Van Dijk sign a new contract, btw how are Brighton doing in your save?

Had to do some College work so sorry about that! Fair to say they're not doing too well...

They did well in 2015/16 but now they've gone back into decline, maybe you could have done a better job!

In a thrilling contest on Saturday afternoon Newcastle United found the back of the net late on to rescue a point away at Carrow Road.

Norwich City were the better time for a large portion of the match, not only dominating the ball but looking very strong on the counter and they started incredibly strong when former Mainz striker Shinji Okazaki fired home after only 4 minutes, a nightmare start for the Magpies!

But the Geordie crew fought back to score an equaliser early into the second-half through in-form Hirving Lozano, a wonderful strike from the Mexican as the ball whistled past John Ruddy into the top left hand corner, but things got worse for the Toon after Argentinian midfielder Gastón Gil Romero was dismissed for a late challenge on winger Josh Murphy, a second bookable offence saw Newcastle go down to 10-men.

Okazaki capitalised on the man advantage in the 88th minute when he glanced home Tomas Dubek's corner to make it 2-1 to the home-side before a dramatic goal from Jamaican winger Rolando Aarons rescused a point for the Tyne-Side club.

Overall a very poor performance from the Magpies as they once again slip out of the top 4.

Newcastle were unable to contain Japanese International Shinji Okazaki as he found the net twice, the 31 year old has now scored 8 goals in 18 appearances for the Canaries this season.

**** well hopefully they will not go down! and unlucky in that last game

Newcastle United have today released a statement confirming the signing of Carlos from Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro for a fee believed to be in the region of £10m.

Carlos, 22 has scored 14 goals in 40 appearances this season for the Brazilian side but it is believed that due to the technical nature of his play he has been under the watchful eye of manager Paul Clement for some time.

Will Carlos be the next big thing, or will he be another Premier League flop?

Newcastle United have also signed Iván Bonetto from Argentinian side Argentinos Jrs. for a reported £4.9m which is believed to have met the players foreign release clause.

While the 21 year old is relatively unknown across the World of Football his goal-scoring record in the past season has set him as one of the most sought after talents in the modern game and Newcastle will be delighted to have signed him for such a cheap price.

Bonetto had scored 16 goals in 27 appearances this season for Argentinos Jrs. before his switch to St. James' Park, but Magpies fans everywhere will be hoping for a bit of that South American flair from the two players.

Newcastle United have now signed an astonishing 6 players in the January window with 2 of them being pre-contract deals, is this just the start of some big changes at St. James' Park?

South American duo Carlos and Iván Bonetto netted their first goals for Newcastle United as the Magpies overturned a 2-0 defecit to take a 3-2 victory in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final tie vs Liverpool at Anfield. The Toon will now take the lead back to St. James' Park with every chance of reaching the Capital One Cup Final.

Liverpool took an early 2-0 lead through Davy Klaasen before Carlos, Fellaini and Bonetto fought back for the Tyne-Side club with fans showing their appraisal for the new players.

Elsewhere, Manchester United secured a 2-1 home win over Chelsea in the first leg of their semi-final tie to put themselves in a commanding position as they look to book their place at Wembley.

Newcastle's 3-2 win over Liverpool gives them a great chance of reaching the League Cup Final, their first since 1976.

Newcastle Scrape Past Citizens

Newcastle United once again overturned a cup deficit as they came from behind to beat Manchester City 2-1 in the 4th round of the FA Cup.

Antoine Griezmann got the away side off to a great start when he poked home Jack Grealish's corner after just 16 minutes but the Citizens posed no real threat after the goal and allowed the home team to have a large share of the possession, ultimately this cost them an equaliser when Hatem Ben Arfa fired home from 20 yards, a fantastic strike from the Frenchman and a well deserved equaliser.

City themselves had chances to find a 2nd but Spanish winger Iker Muniain could only watch as his two glorious efforts whistled past the post. Newcastle's attacking threat once again paid off in the 74th minute when Pablo Sarabia was chopped down by Matija Nastasic inside the 18 yard box, the referee pointed to the spot before booking the Serbian defender.

New signing Carlos stepped up to the plate as he buried the penalty, sending Joe Hart the wrong way to give Newcastle the 2-1 victory, that's now 2 goals in 2 games for the 22 year old as he looks to fire Newcastle to cup glory.

Newcastle United will now be drawn into the 5th round draw, with the Magpies looking to end a lengthy streak without a major trophy.

FA Cup 5th Round Draw

46d579ef694c7fe29e5df33729a96523.png

Newcastle United will play Tottenham Hotspur in the 5th round of the FA Cup at St. James' Park and having won against Chelsea and Manchester City in the previous rounds things don't look to be getting any easier for the North-Eastern Club as they are produced with another tough ask.

Newcastle United have had it tough in the draws so far and have already played Chelsea and Manchester City in the FA Cup with a 2nd leg match against Liverpool to come in the League Cup, a tough run of games for the Magpies, but one that shows their character!

Newcastle United have secure their ticket to Wembley despite a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool at St. James' Park. Daniel Sturridge scored the only goal of the game when he slid the ball under Tim Krul in the 47th minute, however despite playing 120 minutes Liverpool were unable to find a 2nd goal and ultimately the Magpies progressed via away goals, having scored 2 at Anfield last week.

The progression means that Newcastle United will now take part in their first League Cup Final since 1977, and having lost to Stoke City in the FA Cup Final last year the Magpies will be looking for a change of fortune as they look to end a 49 year trophy drought.

Newcastle United will now play Manchester United in the Final at Wembley on 4th March.

Newcastle manager Paul Clement took to the media to express his delight following the aggregate win over Liverpool.

P.Clement: "We've been excellent throughout this cup run and have proven that we're a side who yearn for Silverware. But the work's not done yet, sure we've made it to the Final which is tremendous but we have to play Manchester United, which is an extremely tough ask. But we'll give it our all!"

Re-Capping January

17fadc7168eb7d4fe78c4574ed0553b9.png

January was a very congested month..8 games in total over a 4 week span so we averaged 2 games a week which is always gonna take it's toll on the players. Overall I'm extremely pleased with how we got on, we only lost twice and both of those games were to big clubs but we scored a lot of goals throughout the month. Not only that but we've made it to one cup final while remaining in the other cup, all of this while staying competitive in the league.

Not the best of months but we remain in the top 6 with 2 games in hand, we've had a lot of games to play this year and I'm happy with how our young squad is performing despite the huge challenge of fighting off fatigue. If we can continue to win our games we'll definitely book a place in Europe, even if it's only the Europa.

We also only have one injury and that's Paco Alcácer, so we'll soon be back to having a fully fit squad.

Transfer Overview

Transfers In

630ccb35f8c884616686cf8325cedabe.png

4 players signed during the window for a combined total of £27.1m, I'm pleased with the business as we've managed to bolster the squad in all areas of the field which will certainly help our cause as the season progresses. Bonetto is easily the bargain of the season.

I've also signed a couple of youngsters who will be arriving in July on free transfers, one from Germany and one from Dinamo Bucharest, but as they're being scouted I don't have all of their attributes noted, but here's a look at the most scouted youngster to this date.

Wolfgang Strehmel

ba16c6cb3e7d23052640028b4ee7d439.png

A promising looking winger who currently plays for Hannover 96, he's got some good potential and some good attributes, hopefully we can develop him into a good little player.

Expect more updates as I continue to scout the youngsters.

Transfers Out

572080a68d2ccf093c784f7948026fdd.png

2 players out in this window, both were big players at the club but I'm not going to stand in the way of their desired switches, we've managed to replace them and I'm more than happy with how we've manoeuvred the market.

4d4fac20ac45f9308579fad69a002a3e.png

Cheikh Tioté also looks to be on his way out after agreeing to move to CSKA Moscow for £2.5m, he's a player I'd have liked to keep but he's not happy with his number of minutes on the pitch and I can't drop Kranevitter or Gil Romero just to please Tioté, so he'll be leaving come July.

Overall we've made a lot of transfers this year, a lot of money brought in and a lot of money spent as I look to rebuild the squad, hopefully it all pays off!
