We pick up this story in January 2019. After securing promotion back to the Premier League, Aston Villa have gone from strength to strength. After improving league performances, the Villains find themselves challenging in the Europa League, their first continental competition since their first round elimination in 2011.
Villa manager, James Clark, faces a number of difficulties in the upcoming window, with the proverbial vultures circling his squad.

Will Clark be able to keep the spine of his squad happy? Rumours are already circulating of a dressing room rift, after an apparent bid of £9m for Amavi from Real Madrid was turned down. Madrid, who have previously attempted to sign the Frenchman, appear focused on getting their man. An insider has revealed the bid was perceived to be insulting from the Spanish club, and Clark has been insistent that unless they meet his valuation of the player, no deal will be done. The fullback is unhappy with this decision, and this could just be the first player to be alienated by the strong position taken by the young manager.
