Back to Spurs - Under New Zealand Management

You dominate every single game, very good team also, keep up the good work :)

Thank you for your comments NunoPeixinho, they are appreciated!

JANUARY

2016 started with with high hopes, as my talented squad continued their dominant form in all competitions with a 4-0 win over Doncaster in the FA Cup 3rd Round kicking off the new year. Afellay's brace and a single each to Toulalan and Defoe ensured we were dominant winners.
View attachment 65358

First Premier League game of the year was another 4-0 win, this time at White Hart Lane where we beat West Ham. Vela, Corchia, dos Santos and Rodwell combined to thrash the Hammers, and the solid run of form is only increasing our gap over Chelsea in the league.
View attachment 65359

Still in the Premier League, and still pulling out 4-0 wins, as with the same scoreline we beat Newcastle at St James Park with a goal each from Defoe, Dzeko, dos Santos and Evans ensuring we converted our chances into goals and into valuable league points.
View attachment 65360

Next was Manchester United in a Premier League match, as we readied for them at White Hart Lane. A fairly close game, but we were the better side, as we romped to another 4-0 win. Edin Dzeko got us off to a great start after a minute, and we never looked back, as Modric, Vela and Diogo added to secure a terrific win.
View attachment 65361

Shortly after the United game, Spurs announced the signing of Toni Kroos from Bayern Munich for a Tottenham-record-breaking fee of £55m.
View attachment 65362
He sparked the fans interest in shirt sales, and we will receive a healthy boost:
View attachment 65363
Kroos is a fantastic talent, rated as a better player than Lionel Messi at this stage of the game, and he is only 26 years old, in the prime of his career with a few more years ahead of him yet. I am excited by this purchase, although I was hesitant at the price tag, I am sure he can produce the goods.

The signing of Kroos disrupted my four-nil streak of victories, as we found ourselves down two to one against Stoke in the Premier League. However in the 89th minute, Dzeko found the equalizer, and in the third minute of injury time, clutch striker Carlos Vela found the back of the net for the winner. Thrilling finish, but a game we should have buried easily.
View attachment 65364

Traveling right back to Stoke, for our FA Cup Fourth Round tie against them. A disappointing game, finishing 0-0, as we failed to convert our 22 shots into anything of value to us. We will be looking to dominate in the return leg and remove the poor performance from our minds.
View attachment 65365

Still not shaking our slump in form, we traveled to Villa Park for a Premier League match against Aston Villa, where a late goal from Pedro Leon cancelled out Dzeko's opener and we found ourselves in a 1-1 draw. Dropping points is NOT what we want to do, so we must sort this out.
View attachment 65366

Final game of the month, in the Premier League at White Hart Lane against Wolves. A better performance this time saw us overcome an early deficit to run out 3-1 winners. Hopefully this positive result helps us find our feet and get back into the winning and dominating form we had been in recently.
View attachment 65367

A lot of activity in the transfer market so far this year, with many players coming in. Most additions have been youth prospects, that I can hopefully train and will come through the ranks to produce for the first team in future years. Big signing is Toni Kroos, and although his arrival seems to have caused a form slump, I am confident he will be a solid addition to the squad, and shouldn't take long to adapt. I don't plan to use him too frequently in this season, but will let him settle and he can dominate when he is ready.

Into February, COME ON YOU SPURS!!

you paid a lot for Toni Kroos, although you are in 2016 :) never got that far

you are going very well mate, keep up the good work :D

Good job so far mate! Keep it up! (H)

Yeah I paid quite a lot for him, only time will tell if he manages to adapt to the league and play top football. From his stats I can see him merging extremely well with Dzeko and Modric.

Thanks heaps ! Cheers for the support :)

FEBRUARY

Them month started with the chance for us to make amends for the 0-0 draw in the FA Cup 4th round match with Stoke. The replay was at White Hart Lane, but the relegation candidates sitting on the bottom of the Premier League table managed to hold us goalless at the end of ninety minutes. We had a chance, when after 90+1 minutes, Toulalan stepped up to take a penalty, but his effort was incredibly saved and we were forced to play out extra time. In the extra period our class finally showed, as Granero scored after 6 minutes, with Lukaku sealing the win 9 minutes from time. The 2-0 win after extra time saw us through to the 5th round against Liverpool.
View attachment 66020

After the tough battle with Stoke, we had a Premier League fixture at DW Stadium against Wigan Athletic. We came out bland and paid for our poor efforts, as Wigan stunned us with a 2-0 victory, handing us a shocking defeat.
View attachment 66021

Second place Chelsea could smell a deflated squad as they traveled to White Hart Lane for our next Premier League clash, but the second placed side could not capitalise on the opportunity, as we held out for a 0-0 draw.
View attachment 66022

Another FA Cup fixture was next, with Liverpool arriving at White Hart Lane for our 5th round clash. We were determined to avoid another replay, and Lukaku secured this for us in the 63rd minute with a great strike. Liverpool edged possession but we dominated the shot count, and this barrage strategy served us well in the result.
View attachment 66023

For our following fixture we traveled to Spain, to play Sevilla in our Champions League 1st knockout round first leg. A much more composed performance from the lads, and goals from Defoe, Dzeko and Rodwell gave us a very comfortable three goal advantage going into the home leg. A positive 3-0 win.
View attachment 66024

Next up for us was a Premier League fixture against the historically troublesome for us Portsmouth. Defoe put us ahead after 16 minutes, but Kladrubsky equalised 6 minutes before halftime. The scores stayed level until a late surge from our attack, as Defoe netted his second on 84 minutes, and Carlos Vela popped up to secure the result in the 88th minute with the third goal of the night. A 3-0 win that we will take, and hopefully build a new run of form from.
View attachment 66025

And build we did! White Hart Lane was the host in the North London derby for the Premier League match between Spurs and Arsenal. A solid first half from both teams saw us go into the break scoreless, but some inspiring words at halftime kicked life into the boys, as we came storming out with Diogo scoring a nice volley in the 58th minute. 10 minutes later, Modric had us up 2-0, as we started to show our class and control over the game. In the 76th minute dos Santos collected a corner and fired towards goal, which Bassong re-directed past the keeper to make it three, and four minutes later Edin Dzeko completed the rout with a powerful effort. A fantastic 4-0 victory over our London rivals should give us the boost we need to continue our great run this season.
View attachment 66026

We have found our feet again, and hope to continue our run of top results. We still sit atop the Premier League table and we are in great position to advance in the Champions League. We are undefeated in the FA cup for two years and three months, so we look to continue this run even longer and make it 3 successive titles!

COME ON YOU SPURS!

MARCH

March started just as February ended, with a 4-0 victory over Arsenal, but this time in the FA Cup 6th Round. Jermain Defoe got us off to a fantastic start after 3 minutes and we never looked back. An even game in terms of possession and chances, but we scored the goals, as dos Santos added one and a brace from Luka Modric completed the scoring.
View attachment 66048

Next up was our Champions League 1st knockout round second leg at White Hart Lane against Sevilla. Already leading on aggregate with three crucial away goals, we looked to close out the tie and move to the next stage. It looked to be off to a great start, with a penalty awarded on the 4th minute. dos Santos stepped up but had his effort saved, only for Vela to open the scoring a minute later. Dzeko and Diakite both added extra goals, as we won comfortably 3-0, taking us through 6-0 on aggregate.
View attachment 66049

Our first Premier League game of the month was against Liverpool at Anfield. Luka Modric and Edin Dzeko combined to have us two goals up after just 14 minutes, with Liverpool looking like they were sinking without trace. However, Torres ignited the crowd with a goal in the 23rd minute, and just 4 minutes later Glen Johnson had equalised. Liverpool had been set alight, and the game slowly turned in their favour, with the chances slipping to their side, but they were unable to find a decisive opening. Until the 76th minute, when Steven Gerrard slipped between the defence to fire home a rocket from close range and condemn us to defeat, 3-2.
View attachment 66050

Another tough Premier League game beckoned, with a trip to the City of Manchester Stadium for a match against Citeh. Jack Rodwell opened the scoring after just 4 minutes, getting forward to latch onto a through ball and make a tidy finish. A solid start, but on the 19th minute, Demba Ba slipped in to score an equaliser, and seemingly look to start a comeback as Spurs looked to suffer a defeat twice in a row!
However, Spurs were resilient, and didn't give up the fight. We edged possession but struggled to get shots on target due to a high number of blocks by brave City defenders. But in the 56th minute the determination paid off, when dos Santos arrived at the far post at the right time to net the winner in a well-placed fashion. A pleasing 2-1 win over tough opposition.
View attachment 66051

White Hart Lane was the site of our next Premier League battle, and this time we made no mistake. Up against Birmingham, we barraged the goal with 25 total shots, 14 on target, while restricting Birmingham to only 1 off target shot. This domination paid off, as we managed to score four times, through Dzeko, Defoe, Rodwell and dos Santos to secure an easy 4-0 win in the build up to our Champions League clash with Barcelona.
View attachment 66052

Appearing in another Champions League Quarterfinal first leg, hosted at White Hart Lane. Barcelona were the opponents, and we looked to have a tough game in store to advance to the next round. We began brilliantly, with Rodwell opening the scoring on 8 minutes, and Diakite heading in another just 10 minutes later. We seemed to control the match from there, until an error from Sebastian Bassong led to Mesut Ozil's goal being deflected in, and this put our position in jeopardy. Seeming to have done enough, Brazlian striker Welliton decided it wasn't, and slipped past Bassong to fire a powerful effort in off the post, leaving Ochoa with no chance. A disappointing 2-2 draw, leaving us with an uphill battle to secure the result at the Nou Camp.
View attachment 66053

Another month passes, with Spurs holding commanding position in the Premier League table, 8 points clear with 6 games to go, and another title looks likely. We are charging on in the FA Cup as well, drawing West Ham in the Semifinal, but the focus in the start of April will be securing the return leg against Barcelona and reaching the Champions League Semifinal.

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!

APRIL

A fantastic month for Spurs fans, as we progressed in all competitions, and secured a major trophy for the third consecutive season.
The month started with some crucial starters being rested, as Afellay and Toulalan combined to secure a 2-0 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane in the Premier League. A simple result, but we hold a substantial lead in the Premier League and our players are focused on the upcoming Champions League game.
View attachment 66391

Then came time for our difficult trip to the Nou Camp, where we would compete with Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg. Luka Modric got us off to a flyer after just four minutes with a wonderful goal, only for Barcelona to take the advantage and lead on away goals rule with a header from Ozil. However, Modric had bossed the midfield all game, and did it himself to beat Valdes in the 66th minute and drove the team to hold on to the 1-2 victory (4-3) on aggregate and advancement to another Semi Final appearance!
View attachment 66392

Spurs were on their way to Wembley for the FA Cup Semi Final against West Ham United. We further extended our unbeaten streak and our streak of over two years without conceding, but were made to work for it, as it looked like extra time was looming. Despite having all the ball and all the chances, while restricting the Hammers to one total shot, which was blocked, we failed to score. Until 5 minutes from time, when Spurs fan's hero Giovani dos Santos once again netted a crucial late goal to see us into the final with a 1-0 victory.
View attachment 66393

Next up was a Premier League fixture at West Brom, where we produced a distinctly average performance, but good play from Martin Galvan and Jermain Defoe ensured we managed a 2-0 victory, and took us one step closer to winning the English Premier League title.
View attachment 66394

Fans arrived at White Hart Lane for Spurs Premier League match with Bolton, knowing more than just points were up for grabs. A win in this match would move us out of reach of second place Chelsea and secure the title!
The players knew what they had to do, and didn't waste any time. Luka Modric got us off to a flyer with a great goal after 19 minutes. Just 2 minutes later, Edin Dzeko powered the ball in to put us two up, and on the stroke of halftime, Carlos Vela put us up by three. We started the second half dominate, with dos Santos smashing home a penalty in the 54th minute, and Dzeko adding his second in the 77th minute to make it five. Just to add an exclamation point on the win, Diogo scored in injury time to cap a fantastic game, a 6-0 win, and we celebrated as we secured the Premier League title for another season!!

Unfortunately Luka Modric and Jack Rodwell were injured in this match, and will be out for 2-3 weeks and 14 days respectively. Hopefully we can rally without our inspirational captain and our hard working ball winner.

And here is a look at the premier league standings:
View attachment 66396

Still buzzing from our third consecutive Premier League title, we had to travel to Leverkusen in Germany for the first leg of our Champions League Semi Final tie. Both teams were very evenly matched, with the strong defensive unit of Leverkusen proving difficult for Tottenham to penetrate. Rene Adler was superb in goal for the hosts, and we had trouble moving the ball past Miguel Veloso and Song in the defensive midfield.
An even game that could have ended in a draw, but for a lapse in the 54th minute, when Lukas Sinkiewicz pounced to score the only goal of the match, and give the Germans a 1-0 advantage.
View attachment 66405

With the Premier League title secure, the entire first eleven squad was rested to allow them to be fully fit and ready for the return leg against Leverkusen. A team containing a few debutantes managed to fight to a 1-1 draw with a resilient Sheffield United side, with prolific scorer Ched Evans managing to score yet another goal against us. He is a major threat for this club, and I am surprised the bigger clubs have not come knocking yet.
View attachment 66402

Then came the return fixture against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League Semi Final, with Tottenham having the advantage of playing in front of the White Hart Lane faithful. And it proved to be a helpful advantage, as it took just 13 minutes for Diogo to head home Gareth Bale's pinpoint cross to equal the scores on aggregate. We were having the more chances throughout the game, but Leverkusen were edging possession and once again their defensive play was difficult to break down. It took a set piece to finally break the resistance, as a corner was played to dos Santos, who controlled before firing a shot towards goal. The ball beat Adler, but rebounded off a defender, with Vela just missing a shot, before Diakite raced into the melee in front of goal. His effort was almost heroically cleared by Daniel Schwaab, but unfortunately the clearance hit the post and went in for an own goal, and a lead for SPurs on aggregate. A fierce drive from Song was blocked for a corner by Diogo, and a last effort from Leverkusen from range was tipped over by Ochoa, as we held on for the 2-0 win (2-1) on aggregate and advanced to a second consecutive Champions League final!
View attachment 66403

Final game of the month was against Stoke, where another resting Spurs team played in a meaningless Premier League match. Ochoa saved a penalty in the highlight of the match, as we played out a goalless 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane.
View attachment 66404

A fantastic month, with the Premier League secured for a third consecutive time, and we have participation in the Champions League Final against Real Madrid, and the FA Cup Final against Manchester City at Wembley.

Ten time FA Cup winners Tottenham Hotspur head into Saturday's final against Manchester City looking to lift the trophy for the third consecutive time.
If they manage to achieve this difficult feat, Spurs will no doubt look back proudly on their tremendous victory over Liverpool as the defining moment of this years run.

Meanwhile, six times FA Cup winners Manchester City look to halt Spurs dreams, as they gear up for another final.

Tottenham Hotspur are undefeated in 19 FA Cup matches, dating back to January 2014, and have not conceded for 12 consecutive FA Cup matches, since January last year.

Match Report

Tottenham Hotspur line up in their lily white home strip, while Manchester City come out in their sky blue home strip.

Spurs took the attacking initiative in the opening 10 minutes, and tested the City defense early, but unable to find the decisive finish to put themselves in front.

The next ten minutes was owned by the Citizens, as they pressed back, and tested Ochoa with two shots on target, both gathered comfortably by the Mexican shot stopper. In the 19th minute, Edin Dzeko fired a shot from 25 yards that fizzed over the bar.

The breakthrough came in the 26th minute, with Carlos Vela capping a nice passing movement with a nice finish. The move started with dos Santos making a run across the defence, but being unable to find an opening and laying it back to Bale on the left side of the pitch. The Welsh wing back looked for Jack Rodwell out left, who came forward and played the ball right to Vela's feet. A good move took Vela past Micah Richards, putting the Mexican international in plenty of space to place a shot past Julio Cesar and take a 1-0 lead.

The next chance came after 37 minutes, as Micah Richards scrambled clearance was intercepted by Diogo, who immediately played Dzeko into the penalty area in acres of space, only for his powerful effort across goal to fizz agonisingly wide of the left post.

Just before halftime a good run from Sebastian Corchia to the byline gave him good crossing position to send a ball into the area, which Dzeko won the race to, only to head the chance a whisker over the crossbar.

Halftime score: 1-0

The second half opened with a yellow card for Joao Moutinho, and 10 minutes in Bale was making a good run down the left wing to reach the byline, where he swung in a good cross towards the penalty area. Once again Dzeko beat his man to the ball, and headed an effort on target, only for Julio Cesar to make a great save a push the effort over the bar for a corner.

On the hour Tevez made some good movement in the Spurs box to create an opening for Adebayor to run in and get a shot, but his effort was right along the ground at Ochoa for a simple save.
Ochoa immediately distribute the ball via throw to Gareth Bale, who looked to start the counter attack and knocked the ball up towards Carlos Vela, who sprinted past Vedran Corluka in the City defence and ran down the left side of the pitch towards the penalty area. As the support arrived, Vela turned back to set up position to send a ball in, but Corluka stuck out his leg and brought down Vela inside the box for a clear penalty.
Giovani dos Santos stepped up to take the penalty, and coolly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner of the net, out of Julio Cesar's reach to take a 2-0 lead.

Another Spurs chance came in the 71st minute, as Dzeko was fouled by Joao Moutinho about 30 yards out from goal. Modric quickly took the free kick, laying the ball off for Diogo to blast a banana shot on target - but was well held by Julio Cesar diving to his left.

With three minutes left, Demba Ba fired off target, but he was ruled offside so the effort was for nothing. Tottenham had been enjoying a dominant spell of possession, controlling the ball in the midfield with fluid passing and not letting the City defenders get a sniff.

The remaining time was not enough for Manchester City, as Tottenham Hotspur held on easily to ensure the win and clean sheet streak in the FA Cup continued, but more importantly secured the third consecutive FA Cup win for Spurs!

Tottenham will be looking to win the Champions League for the second time in a row when they face Real Madrid C.F. in Saturdays' final.

Should Tottenham manage to lift the trophy, they will surely look back at their memorable victory over Spanish league runners-up F.C. Barcelona on April 5th as the defining moment in another glorious cup run for the club.

Meanwhile, eleven-times European Cup champions will be gearing up for another appearance in the final. They will be without the suspended Xabi Alonso, but superstar Cristiano Ronaldo -who has strained knee ligaments and was not expected to feature in the match - has been named in the starting line-up for today's final.

Match Report

Tottenham Hotspur will be playing in their white home kit, while Real Madrid have come out in their dark navy away kit.

The match kicked off to huge cheers from both sets of fans, as two great clubs face off in the Champions League final, the Champions of England against the Champions of Spain.

The first chance came in the 6th minute, when dos Santos got his head to a Gareth Bale corner, to force Casillas into action. The Spanish keeper did well to tip the ball over the bar for another corner, which Rodwell headed over for a goal kick.

On 14 minutes Real Madrid got their first chance, with Ashley Young latching onto a pass from Marcelo and cutting inside Sebastian Corchia inside the box, only to smash the chance high and wide of the goal.

Madrid were keeping up the pressure, and another chance went by as Papastathopoulos headed over the bar from Marcelo's cross.
Just minutes later, Vela and Dzeko got caught up in each other and the ball rolled to Cristiano Ronaldo, who quickly moved the ball to Benzema. The French striker played the ball to Gonzalo Higuain, who had Modibo Diakite beat and raced down on goal, only for his effort at the top corner to fly wide of the net.

Real Madrid's extended pressure was rewarded as in the 26th minute, Higuain drew first blood. The move started when Ashley Young was quick to start a counter attack, moving the ball up field to Benzema, who beat Diakite for pace and raced through into the penalty area. His effort was saved well by Ochoa with his fingertips, but the rebound fell to the right foot of Higuain on the volley, who powered home to take the lead.

Looking for a reply just 3 minutes later, Jonny Evans narrowly headed over a Gareth Bale corner, as a determined Spurs side wanted to even up the match.

Halftime score: 1-0

The second half started with Tottenham surging out of the gate, as Luka Modric sliced the midfield with a pass to Vela, who saw his effort saved superbly by Casillas and cleared by the defenders.

On 51 minutes Madrid almost doubled their lead, as nice play from Higuain teed up Benzema in space to fire a powerful effort at goal, only to be denied by a fine save from Ochoa.

Then in the 59th minute a nice pass from Carlos Vela to Diogo in space gave him time to blast an effort on target, which was met by Casillas and tipped over the bar.

Benzema once again found the beating of Diakite in the 61st minute to blast a good shot on goal, which was brilliantly saved once again by Ochoa in the Tottenham goal. The clearance fell to Dzeko, who headed to Vela, but Sergio Ramos fouled from behind as Vela tried to play the ball. The referee called the Spanish right back over and showed him his second yellow card, reducing Real Madrid to 10 men for the final 25 minutes of regulation time.

The loss of a man didn't faze Benzema, as he once again found space past Diakite and fired a powerful effort that beat Ochoa, but rattled the post and rebounded clear.

Then on 68 minutes came the equalizer. Edin Dzeko beat everyone to the ball to powerfully head Gareth Bale's corner into the back of the net off the underside of the bar! 1-1 in an exciting match.

Right away Madrid came hounding back, with a ferocious effort from Benzema just being pushed over by Ochoa with another top save.
Los Merengueswere enjoying all the possession since the goal and looking to hold the balance of power in the match, but in the 72nd minute one moment looked set to change the game. Giovani dos Santos controlled well to confuse Higuain and create some space, where he moved the ball out right to a wide open Kyle Naughton, who then moved unopposed into the box and fired a shot from a tight angle. Casillas got to the ball, but could only push it out front, where Carlos Vela beat Ashley Young to the ball to fire in a first time shot with his left foot just inside the post, to give Spurs a 2-1 advantage.

On 83 minutes that advantage was increased from Dzeko's second of the match. Luka Modric moved with the ball down the right wing and swung in a cross to the far post. Dzeko arrived unmarked to beat
Papastathopoulos to the ball and head the ball in off the diving Casillas. Tottenham lead the final 3-1.

Ashley Young fired an effort well wide after some good work with Benzema on 88 minutes, as Real Madrid looked to fight until the end.
Three minutes of injury time were announced, and in the first minute, Madrid had reduced the deficit to just one goal. Ashley Young received the ball in the centre of the pitch from Higuain, and played a wonderful ball that split Diakite and Evans to reach Benzema in the box with plenty of space to place the ball into the corner out of Ochoa's reach.

No late magic came for Real Madrid, as the final whistle blew that sealed a 3-2 victory for Tottenham Hotspur and a historic second consecutive Champions League trophy!!!

FINAL SCORE
Tottenham 3-2 Real Madrid
Dzeko ('69, '84), Vela ('73); Higuain ('27), Benzema ('90+2)

Can I get a screenshot of your squad/tactics please? :)

Of course you can :)

I play an aggressive, yet disciplined 4-2-2-2 that aims to control the ball up the pitch while scoring goals.
View attachment 67456View attachment 67457

The team produces some beautiful football at times, with the class of Modric at Advanced Playmaker and the skill of Dos Santos as an Inside Forward splitting even the best defensive units wide open. Dzeko is the key man up front as a Complete Forward, with his lethal touch serving to score and assist most of our goals. Vela aims to attack in a Poachers role, and often supports by roaming out to the wing to set up opportunities.
In midfield Rodwell is the Ball Winner, fighting to recover lost possession and the Deep Lying Playmaker in Diogo(regen) provides a link to recharge attack after attack with his good vision operating deep.
Wing backs Bale and Corchia have a huge task, as they are responsible for the wings, and they are both top class in getting forward for attacks and getting back to make the crucial interceptions.
Evans and Diakite are strong in the air and solid on the ground, but my aim is to shut down attacks before they reach scoring range.

Thanks a lot, really detailed description there. Quality team you have, well done on your successess :)

AUGUST & summer summary

A summary of the preseason fixtures:

at America (MEX) WIN 1-0
at St. Johnstone WIN 2-0
at Partizan WIN 4-0
at Koblenz WIN 3-0
at MK Dons LOSS 0-2

at Hamilton WIN 5-0

A good run of results, where we only conceded 2 goals, both in our single defeat, and this game didn't feature our strongest team at all. Another solid preseason getting everyone up to fitness and bringing the newer guys up to speed on the system we play.

Up first was the Community Shield match against Chelsea at Wembley. A fairly bland game, with both teams having good chances denied by the opposition keeper, but despite edging the possession and shot count, Spurs were unable to score and the match went to penalties. Chelsea scored all four, while Dzeko and Ben Arfa missed for us, as we lost 0-0 (4-2) on penalties to Chelsea.

After this game, two major injuries were suffered in training, with Ochoa going out for at least 2 months with a slipped disk; and Edin Dzeko breaking his collarbone and being ruled out for 4 weeks. Hopefully the team can rally and the replacements will combine to produce top results.

The first Premier League game of the season was against Aston Villa at Villa Park. Adam Matthews scored from the spot in the 22nd minute, after a blatant foul by Bassong in the area. Lukaku managed to equalize before halftime, but that was the last goal of the game for Spurs, as the attacking combination's up front did not seem to be working. Matthews popped up again 6 minutes from time to secure a good win for a solid Villa side, as we suffered a 2-1 defeat.

Next up in the Premier League was Everton at White Hart Lane. This time we put up a more respectable attacking performance and managed a 2-0 win, thanks to first half goals from Carlos Vela and Jermain Defoe. We truly dominated this match, and didn't give Everton a sniff of goal, and it showed in the result.

Our third Premier League game of the season, and our third loss of the season, as we fell 2-0 to a strong Chelsea side at Zola Stadium. Chelsea completely dominated this game and deserved to win, we will look to regroup and take revenge in the reverse fixture later in the year.

A chance for some silverware to boost spirits was next, as we traveled to Paris for the European Super Cup match against EURO Cup winners Juventus. 19 year old Tom Adams was handed the start in goal, after less-than-impressive performances from Foster since Ochoa's injury saw him dropped to the bench. And he put in a solid performance as we started to find the goals, defeating the Italian side 3-1 with goals from Bale, Vela and Afellay helping us to win our first trophy of the season.

Back to England with high morale after a positive win, and we needed it as we prepared to face Manchester United at White Hart Lane in the Premier League. After a good performance against Juventus, Tom Adams was handed his debut Premier League appearance. But he could not be blamed as United took the lead, with Rooney beating Evans and blasting an absolute rocket across the goal leaving Adams no chance. However, we were back on level terms in just 5 minutes, as Nemanja Vidic conceded a penalty with a rash challenge in the box, and Dos Santos drilled home the spot kick to level the scores.
The attacking play was looking much better, and we looked the better side, rewarded for our pressure when Carlos Vela took the lead just before halftime. Luka Modric beat the United keeper Potter to the ball to score a third, as we turned out comfortable winners after a good game. Notable points were a debut given to 15-year old German promising striker Mario Lehmann (who was on the bench thanks to injuries to Dzeko, Lukaku and de Melo in reserves) and an injury to Jonny Evans, who suffered a broken collarbone, and looks to be out 6-7 weeks, leaving me with a gap to fill in defense.

In the transfer market I was very careful to bring in more money than I spent, and managed to make a €17.25m profit from the summer window. Notable departures were players I picked up on free transfer - Jonathan dos Santos and Oscar Ustari - being sold for €7.5m to Spartak Moscow and €7.25m to Wolves respectively. Fantastic value for Jonathan, who is far too overvalued. Also out was Ben Arfa to AC Milan, another free transfer, on loan for a fee of €1.3m with Milan hopefully choosing to purchase for €5.5m during the loan period.
I spent a combined €1m on three promising youth players, who have great potential and look to grow through the ranks. I have built a very strong under 18 team and this will help me in the long run, as I will be able to promote more players through the youth system and save some money in the market.

Looking to overcome these injuries, with starters Jonny Evans, Edin Dzeko and Ochoa out of action for more than 5 weeks, so hopefully I can recover my poor 50% start to the Premier League season.

COME ON YOUR SPURS!

SEPTEMBER

A nervy start to September as we still tried to find our feet in this season, with a 2-2 draw at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland in the Premier League. We found ourselves two goals down at halftime, but a fight back from the team through dos Santos and Modric helped us to equalize and earn a hard fought point.

Next White Hart Lane hosted our Champions League Group C match against AEK. A thumping four goals from Modric and Defoe with Lukaku getting two, helped us to the confidence-boosting 4-0 win and hopefully we have found our goalscoring ways.

Another home game, but in the Premier League against Hull was next. Modric and Diogo scored for us as our superior finishing helped us to edge the victory on a nervy day. We would like to be more dominant in possession, but the rash of injuries means we have to makeshift Rodwell into a centre back and have lost some of the dominance in midfield with him back in a defensive role.
View attachment 69742

Then the reserves came out for the League Cup against West Ham, but were soon embarrassed as we got a bollocking, suffering a 5-1 defeat and ensuring I went another season without the League Cup in my cabinet.

Back in the Premier League, and we managed to put up consecutive wins by beating Stoke away by a two goal margin, with the final score being 3-1, thanks to goals from youngster Ian Adam, Modric and Carlos Vela.

Final match of September was against Sevilla in my Champions League Group C match. Wilson Palacios was up against his old club again, but was dismissed with a second yellow card on the hour mark. dos Santos had put us ahead from the penalty spot on 22 minutes, and against 10 men we extended that advantage with a Lukaku goal three minutes from time.

We are starting to string together some consistent performances, and the team are only going to get stronger, with 4 first team players due back from medium term injuries over the next 2 months. Importantly the return of Dzeko, Evans and Ochoa will strengthen the squad and help us achieve better results.

COME ON YOU SPURS!

OCTOBER

Another slow month as we crawl our way into the season, but we managed to at least get this month kicked off with 3 points, in a 3-1 victory at White Hart Lane over Burnley. A brace from Carlos Vela and a rocket from Toulalan confirmed the three points and a confidence boosting win.
View attachment 70977

Next up still in the Premier League was a trip to the Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers. A goal from Dzeko was not enough, as we spluttered to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of a strong Wolves side. Marc Crosas stole the three points on 90 minutes with a nicely taken goal, amid some lapse in the defence.
View attachment 70978

Another disappointing result followed as we traveled to play AZ in our Champions League Group C match. A 1-1 draw was the result, leaving with us in top position in the group, but we still should have taken all the points.
Niko Kranjcar salvaged a point with his late goal after AZ had taken the early advantage.

The much anticipated North London Derby against Arsenal had it's first meeting at White Hart Lane in the Premier League next, and the fierce rivals managed to steal a point from a poor Spurs effort. We had an astonishing 31 shots in the match, with only 9 managing to hit the target, and from that 2 found the back of the net. We squandered our clear cut chances, only managing to convert one of them as Carlos Vela and Luka Modric gave us the lead after Djourou's headed opener, but wonderkid Robert Young's strike on the hour secured the draw as a disappointing performance was wrapped up.

A better performance followed away at West Brom in the Premier League, as we won 3-1, but still conceded a goal. The return of Ochoa next month should help prevent this and stabilize our backline. Modric got two and Diogo added a third as we cruised to the win over lesser opposition, but we shouldn't have conceded from Graeme Blair's 77th minute effort.

Hopefully we can get back on track, and I am considering a tactical switch in formation and strategy to get our spark back. Valencia C.F in Spain is looking like a possible switch for me after this season, I have enjoyed dominance in the Premier League and will be looking to move to a new challenge if I can win all the trophies again.
Currently looking interesting are Real Madrid and Valencia, as I want to move to a Spanish team not called Barcelona!

But for now...

COME ON YOU SPURS!

NOVEMBER

First up in the penultimate month of the year was a match against Dutch side AZ in our Champions League Group C match, held at White Hart Lane. A 1-0 victory thanks to a superb strike from right wing back Sebastian Corchia ensured we qualified to the knockout stages of the competition for another shot at the Champions League trophy. Now we just have to starve off Sevilla for the first place in the group.

Another home game followed, this time in the Premier League against Liverpool F.C. A rampaging Spurs side barraged Reina's goal as we unleashed our pent up frustrations on the Merseysiders. The fabulous front four of Vela, Dzeko, Modric and dos Santos all scored, as we romped to a 4-0 victory - which could have been more if not for an in-form Reina between the sticks.
View attachment 71602

Continuing our rampant form, we tactically dissembled Fulham at Craven Cottage in the Premier League with a 3-0 win thanks to goals from Vela, Modric and Kranjcar. Once again the scoreline could have been much higher with some better finishing, but the result is a positive sign that we have found our dominant form.
View attachment 71603

Still in the Premier League, with a typically challenging fixture against Manchester City up next. Despite not controlling much of the possession and being out-shot 8 to 3, we managed to eke out a 3-1 victory, with a late Carlos Tevez goal ruining our clean sheet in injury time. Our form has been top class, and hopefully we can maintain our dominant performances.

AEK in the Champions League group C match was next, and we were looking to send out a second string side to enable the first team players to rest. They performed admirably, taking a two goal lead into the final 20 minutes, but unfortunately ran out of legs as AEK equalized to end the game at 2-2. A dominant possession performance was pleasing and we are looking to finish in first place, unless Sevilla can beat us in the final group match by an obscene scoreline.
View attachment 71605

The final match of the month was against Newcastle United in the Premier League at St James Park. Diogo and Modric scored goals to have us up by two inside 20 minutes, and the only other goal came from Gilardino on the half hour mark, as we were comfortable to cruise to victory with a 2-1 scoreline.

The Club World Championship looms next month, and we will be looking to collect an easy, morale boosting trophy in the competition. I will be looking to modify the tactics and formation to open up more space in the attacking third, and will be implementing and testing this strategy at the CWC. At present the clogged attacking third with a concentrated effort down the middle results in their defense clogging all the lanes and neutralizing my skillful, speedy players. A wider, more open formation should create the space to produce some brilliant attacking football.

COME ON YOU SPURS!

DECEMBER

A terrific 2016 draws to a close, with some great results to finish the year on a high.

Starting the month on a high, with a 2-0 win at home against Ipswich in the Premier League. Evans and Modric scored the crucial goals to secure the three premiership points and continue our string of positive results.
View attachment 71608

The final game of our Champions League group C stage was against second place Sevilla, who were not going to realistically catch us for first. We managed a 2-2 draw against a surging side, and this ensure we qualify first from the group and travel to the Club World Cup in good spirits.
View attachment 71609

Arriving in China for the Club World Championship, our first game was against local side Shandong. With an astounding 72% of possession we played a solid game of keep away and ran out dominating 3-0 winners, admittedly over some average competition.
View attachment 71610

The final of the Championship was next, at the iconic "Birds Nest" stadium made famous by the Olympic games in 2008. The same "second string" team from the previous game lined up to face USA side New York. Kranjcar had us 2-0 up after 13 minutes, and that proved to be all we needed as we dominated the game and ran out comfortable winners and secured our second consecutive Club World Cup trophy!

It is important to note that our new formation had been implemented, with the attacking midfielders playing wider in the new lineup. This creates more space for our skill players to work in and has produced some dominant possession and beautiful football!

Returning to England from China for our Premier League fixture at Fratton Park against Portsmouth. We completely controlled this game, and only an out-of-this-world goalkeeping performance from Bosnian keeper Asmir Begovic prevented the score from hitting double digits. The match finished 3-0, with dos Santos netting twice and Vela once, and me getting a new goalkeeping transfer target for the summer!

The final Premier League game of the year showcased our attacking dominance in all its glory, as we thumped a tough Aston Villa side 6-0 at White Hart Lane, with Dzeko and dos Santos getting two each and Rodwell and Diogo getting one each in a sublime performance. 61% of possession suffocated our opponents, and we look good value to continue our dominance.

Last match of the year was in the FA Cup Third Round against League One side Doncaster. The reserves ran out keen for some competitive football, and a hattrick from Ibrahim Afellay confirmed what was already known before the match - a Spurs victory, as we won 4-0 and advanced to the next round. It is worth noting we are still undefeated in 21 FA cup matches and have not conceded in 14 straight FA Cup games.
