I may be repeating something you made have answered earlier in the thread but how can I get Messi dribbling and shooting more?

1)Should you tweak my team settings during the game i.e up the temp and width
2)Tweak a few of Messi's tactic

Well if U rly want him to do that then Run with ball often and muuuch creative freedom. Dont make him hold up ball either.

And arikubis, did you notice how 3 of your attackers were sitting behind the tight opposition defense?(Go to 0:16 and play) Now compare that to real life Barca and tell me is it so.

Play the vid from 0:16 and take a look at your 3 attackers. Where are they standing? Notice their movement. Your game in that vid drags between Busquets & Xavi + your wingbacks when it should be more of Xavi, Dani Alves and your AM - section.

okay i think i got what you mean mate, correct me if im wrong. From what i saw is, first they are moving down the pitch try to help xavi then when xavi had pass the ball to busquets they are moving up and then they are standing next to opps defenders waiting for space to be openm and then when one of defenders have been drag away from his position xavi released through balls to the open space and messi run for it. Thats what i got from the video. Ohh yeah and one more thing, from what i saw its not only between Busquets, xavi and dani, there is also iniesta there

maybe its not relevant but, from many barca games that i have watched, to be honest such a condition often occur if the opponents park the bus/plane. although i hate to see barca play in matches highlights, besides i loved to see barca games in full i have to say that there is more from barca that cant be shown by highlights. But i think in this forum thats the easiest way. cheers

the game against sociedad in the first minutes of this highlights have almost the same scenario with the one from my barca save, the opposition play deep and most of barca players sits behind opposition defense if thats what you mean, and from 1:11 messi do that also

Most of the time they moved instead of standing next to their defender or if they didnt, they were in a position on which you could pass to. But you cant create this fluidity in the movement what barca possess. IN terms of FM, U can only make it by altering run from deep.

but before i can help you, could you explain in more detail what is the problem is. Does he never try to dribble past the opponents or releasing shot although only once or twice?

Well he is sort of dribbling, just not that much. In some games when he does dribble a lot, he seems to shot and score more. I have been trying to encourage him to dribble and I'm nearly there!

It may seem mad and crazy but I have gone the complete oppersite to what Gump said. I have lowered creative freedom to 3 clicks. This way he is sticking to what I want him to do, I have also got runs with ball often and passing on long. The passing is long simply bcos he has high decision attribute so instead of making a stupidly long pass, he runs and shoots.

If you think there is a better/more effective way of increasing his dribbling and shooting I'd love to hear. Btw I really enjoy this tactic, its great for tweaking and just dominates teams

Yes mate, i also do believe that current ME cant produce exactly the same fluidity like what barcelona produced IRL. Because after all this is just a game mate, a game is made of a series of code that taken and written down after analysing what real players do. While IRL players movements is influenced by many aspect, like the height of the grass, water conditions in the field, their health, their mind, their imagination, and also their skill. As i said this is just a game, and i do believe with current technology no way a game could produce the same level of fluidity as players in real life do either it is FM or other football games. Especially what barcelona do, because they do extraordinary things even other players from other big teams hardly produced that kind of play and they admit it. Nowadays many teams inspired by barca and they want to replicated it but they no where near the level of barca.

But, i personally loved this season fm and i do not have any troubles with it, i do enjoyed it. because eventhough we couldnt yet produced what exactly the same thing as IRL players do but this season fm is nearly to that better that previous season. We have give credits to SI for their wonderful job. I just think that this game lack of one thing, why our players cant do lob through balls? because IRL that is another way to break park the bus/plane tactic or maybe i just havent seen that thing yet...

Thats it mate!! thats what im going to say earlier. Okay will try to answer your previous question
1. yes you can also try to tweaks your team instruction, the quicker the tempo is will make your players try to make goals as quickly as possible. so no wonder if your teams will produced many amounts of shots. Not sure about width, because it depends on how you play especially how the opponents play. But you have to be careful with this because tweaking team instruction will affect all of your players not just messi.

2. Yes like what you have said. Lower your messi creative freedom, then make him run with ball often. It will make messi shut up and follow all of your instructions like good dog LOL

The reason is because messi have a good attributes to become a players who can dribble past opponents as shown by his good dribbling, technique, etc attributes. And also a good attributes to become a good playmaker who can control tempo and released a perfect through balls, as shown by his good passing, etc attributes.
And it is also supported by his PPM, because this game is highly influenced by PPM. He has cut inside, runs with ball often which will make him a beast inside forward but he also has Comes Deep to Get the Ball, plays one two, tries killer ball often which will make him a good playmaker also.
So if we give him much creative freedom he has two options in his mind, whether he will dribble past the opponents, cut inside and shot to score. Or he will comes deep to get the ball, plays one twos to help build up play with his team mates and released perfect through balls for his team mates
But because messi is also extremely intelligent players as shown by his good creativity and his decision attributes. So if we give him much creative freedom he has two option in his mind as stated above and he definitely will choose one of it if he thinks that is the best to do on the pitch whether he will run past the opponents or become a playmaker for his team. He is a very versatile players he can be a really good forward and also a good playmaker. He is not the kind of players if given much creative freedom, which will always try to beat all of the opponents (dont wnt to mention any specific players cos dont want to insult other players fans) and also not a pure playmaker like xavi, iniesta, or ozil which job is to control tempo and feed other players. But he has good attributes and PPM to do both job perfectly but because he also extremely intelligent players he is the one who can choose his two options based on what he thinks the best to do on the pitch

So if you want him to dribble a lot, yes i do agree with you. give him much lower creative freedom so instead of thinking on his two options on the pitch he will follow your instruction for sure. Give him runs with ball often and long pass so he wont give too many simple pass to his team mates.

ive decided to try ur tactic as I absolutely love AMs and it just looks really interesting. i took my pretty imba liverpool team and tried. first game i absolutely ripped a parking-the-bus-norwich side 7-0 with the villa role scoring 4 and having an scary game. second game against an attacking aston villa i was struggling to get a 2-1 result. i assume its because the team is not familiar with the tactic but i thought this tactic actually compliment the villa/sanchez role more then it compliment the messi role like it actually shoud. ill report again later! amazing work mate

arikubis also im abit confused , you said your using this tactic on Athletic Bilbao so where does llorente play in this ??? is he playing where david villa is playing ??? am also using ur wonderfull tactic on my liverpool save and im wondering where to put luis suarez ( my main striker ) and gotze ( messi role although he has the worst finishing when he comes infront of goal ) also also using charlie adam/christian eriksen/gerrard in xavi's/iniesta role so i was wondering what you would recommend on where these players should go and who are your playmakers and target man ??????

P.S i just got beaten 3-0 with man utd with this tactic they destoryed me , they were attacking all over the place like i was a smaller team and yess i did your advice which was to increase the tempo since they playing with high defense line and still no change not even a goal i got from that match also like you said increase the wide play and also time waste , i didnt get anythink out of it.
