How in the world is that even possible? Four goals in four minutes, huh.

I have no idea!! I've scored a spree of goals in limited time but I've never conceded that many in quick succession - I think three was my darkest hour... Honestly, at some point it just seemed the game switched into "must-lose" mode and they scored with literally every touch right up until I paused to conduct a substitution!!

Moyes signs long-term Carrick replacement

Gary Neville

Published at 7:52PM, August 21 2016

Manchester United have moved to secure a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick by sealing a 28.5 million pounds move for Paris Saint-Germain's Italy international midfield playmaker Marco Veratti (23). Marco is exactly the player to fit in a star-crowded Red Devils midfield with is skill set which includes frequent attempts to play through balls, one-twos mixed with long-range passes and general ability to dictate the tempo of a game. But most of all the Italian is willing to pass the ball rather than shoot himself which will complement the likes of Bale and Rooney pretty well.

Veratti joins a star midfield at Old Trafford

Marco has tasted success at the highest level when Italy won the World Cup back in 2014 and will surely have the perfect blend of hunger and know-how to help Man United achieve their ambitions for years to come.

Marco Veratti transfer verdict: 8.5/10 - it's not easy to acquire a quality player at such an early age and David Moyes has done just so - Marco is likely to slot in straight away and give much greater creative freedom to players around him.

Candreva leaves Arsenal
France experience too good to turn down

, Thursday 25 August 2016

Arsenal have agreed to sell cultured winger Antonio Candreva (29) to Lyon in exchange of a 8.25 million pounds fee. The Italy international spoke about his desire to taste a different culture while still at the best of his ability and that after 18 months with the Gunners the time had come to move on to a new challenge.

Candreva leaves Gunners

Antonio was a good player for Arsenal, scoring 14 and creating 12 more goals in 33 starts plus 14 appearances from the bench but increased competition for starting position probably threatened his chances of first team football and he didn't want to take the risk at this stage of his career.

Antonio Candreva transfer verdict: 2.0/10 - it's not nice to see one of your better players leave but it's even worse when you take more than a 10 million hit in transfer fees over less than two seasons.

Southampton star becomes latest recruit at Ewood Park

............................................................................................................

Blackburn extended their spending spree this summer even further by acquiring the services of Southampton loyal servant Adam Lallana (28) for a 17.75 million pounds fee. The flamboyant midfielder was always considered England material but surprisingly never got the call. He started the current season in style by scoring three goals in three games and the Rovers faithful will be very fond to see if he can transit this form at Ewood Park.

Lallana joins Rovers

It is rare to see players spend so long with their home club and Lallana was perhaps one of the best players of his generation to stick with a mid-level team so long. After 12 seasons with the Saints he was finally convinced he needed to make a move to realize his international ambitions.

Adam Lallana transfer verdict: 7.5/10 - the flamboyant midfielder is a versatile player and can really add something to an already very talented crew at Ewood Park.

The European Super Cup final was an all-English clash this year but it was pretty one sided. Arsenal seemed close to putting it to penalties but in reality they were lucky to even get that goal and that was their only shot on target in the course of the game. Commanding center back leaves Spurs for Blackburn
............................................................................................................
By Kevin Gallacher.........i-iii..........11:33 PM Saturday 27th August 2016 in Sport
............................................................................................................

Blackburn have probably completed their incoming transfer business this summer with the signing of Tottenham commanding center back Kyriakos Papadopoulos (24). The Greece international reportedly cost 13.0 million pounds and already expressed his excitement over the move with Rovers' ambition to go places the decisive factor in his decision to leave underperforming Spurs.

View attachment 408416
Rovers' brand new defender

Papadopoulos is a tremendous talent when it comes to defending as his marking, tackling, aggression, bravery, determination and work rate are the best you can get from a player. He has also won some silverware with Schalke back in 2011 when the German club secured a double by claiming the German Cup and German Super Cup.

Kyriakos Papadopoulos transfer verdict: 8.5/10 - the relatively young defender comes cheap considering his ability and he is arguably better than any other center back Rovers currently have!

Premier League predictions: Lawro v Phil Collins

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson is pitting his wits against a different guest each week this season.

This week he takes on Tottenham fan Phil Collins, English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, actor and writer, best known both as drummer and vocalist for English rock group Genesis and as a solo artist.

View attachment 408414
Lawro vs Spurs fan Phil

A correct result is worth ONE point. A correct score earns THREE points.

Manchester United - Q.P.R.
Phil Collins: This should be a walk in the park for the Red Devils. 3-0.
Mark Lawrenson: It seems Man United are unstoppable right now and I expect them to pile some misery on hapless Rangers. 4-0.

Stoke - Newcastle
Phil Collins: The Magpies should win this. 1-2.
Mark Lawrenson: This will be close and with Newcastle lacking belief at the minute it could spawn a surprise result. 1-1.

Tottenham - Blackburn
Phil Collins: We are completely equipped to get something from Rovers even though they have stolen a couple of our players in the transfer window. 1-1.
Mark Lawrenson: I'll back Rovers for a win but it will be a very tight game and could go either way! 1-2.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City games already played

Last week, Lawro got two results rights, with no perfect scores. His score of 2 was too poor for the predictions of Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher, who also scored 5, managing three correct results with one perfect score.

Total scores after Week Two
Lawro: 9
Guests: 11

Stoke - Newcastle 1-1
Ben Khalifa (pen 17); Balotelli (61)

This just ain't serious! We get penalty appeals turned down on FIVE freaking occasions and they get one at the slightest of touches!! Britannia at its best!!!

Important Message

All summer transfers concluded after the start of the season have now been included in the 2016/17 team squad posts located at page 133 of the thread. Let us know how you feel about the teams now that the transfer window has closed at least until January - has something changed in your expectations from our title contenders after you saw what they had to do in the first three rounds and the final days on the market?

A couple of things.

1st, could you show us the first teams of the 'big boys' of Europe or something? Just a screenshot of the squad, not individual players, perhaps an article by Roy Hodgson/Lawro/Wenger about how much better the english league is then any other league in the world or something.

2nd, I like the predictions and points thing, but I had an idea to show a league table as it would be if every one of Lawro's predictions were correct vs the guests version of the same table, just to compare to the real one towards the end, because we know Lawro outperforms the guests overall in the season, but does he ever think someone will overachieve and they fail? Just thought it might be interesting.

That would be quite tiresome to calculate, mate - if anyone is willing to go throughout the story and sum up all results to provide the data I'd be happy to write up a piece about it or let them post it themselves in any shape and form they see fit (as long as it doesn't detract too much from the story layout of course)!
