Is Diaz a stop gap?

River-Plate-Pin-Badge.gif

Reports coming out of Argentina today suggest that River Plates new manages, Ramon Diaz, has signed just a six month contract. All though it hasn't been made public, behind the scenes he is called "El cuidador", which translated to the Caretaker.
When Diaz took over at River Plate, it squashed rumours that Boca head man, Mr Drezzy, was Next in line to the River throne.
How ever, these reports may add more fuel to the fire, and if true, blows everything back open

Before todays game with Lanus, Mr Drezzy was asked about the current River Plate situation. Mr Drezzy Replied "What situation? River appointed a new manager, i'm still manager of Boca Juniors, there is no situation! The only situation we have on our hands is Boca regaining the Premier Division! Any other talk regarding my future will have to wait until the end of the season. I've made it clear, i'm contracted here until the end of the season, and i will stay until then. I hope and i pray to God that I'm here longer, but the Board need to offer me a new contract first"

Boca Juniors 3 - 0 Lanus
Aguirre own goal (11), Lucas Barrios (17), Dodo (31)

wpid-Boca-Juniors-vs-Lan-s.jpg

Boca hosted a strong Lanus side today and Boca knew they had to be on top form. They pressed from the very start, not giving Lanus much room to play. They pinned them back and the pressure caused Lanus to tremble. On 11 minutes, Pastore whipped in a free kick with Lanus defender Aguirre swiping at the ball, but it came of his shin and ended up in the back on his own net.
Boca continued to press, this time Lucas Barrios getting on the scoresheet on 17 minutes, playing the ball under the Lanus goal keeper. Boca still pressed on, and on the half an hour mark, Dodo hit a left footed Volley to put Boca 3-0 up.
Boca then began to play a passing game, limiting Lanus to just 6 shots, one of which was on target but Romero easily saved. Boca should have scored more but it didn't matter, they'd picked up a good 3-0 win

Mr Drezzy was delivering extremely good results, with most fans believing his words before the game, how ever, you could see the stress on Mr Drezzy's face, it looked like he was hiding something, a dark secret that he didn't want to reveal

Boca_vs_Velez_Sudamericana.JPG

Boca had always had a tough time against Velez, and today should have been no different. But Boca were confident they looked good in possession and defended well. Santa cruz scored his first goal of the night on 24 minutes, Smashing the ball home from close range. It was Maxi Rodriguez, the former Liverpool man, who doubled the score, curling in a free kick.
Boca came out strong, Velez didn't have any answers in the second half. Zapata put the ball through his own net three minutes after the start, to give Boca a 3 goal cushion. But the night wasn't over, as Santa Cruz headed home his second of the night on 53 minutes. And towards the end, Santa Cruz scored his hat trick and Boca's fifth of the night, a delightful 15 yard shot, leaving their keeper with no chance. Boca took a big lead to Velez, favourites to qualify for the semi finals.

historial.png

Boca faced a difficult away trip to Rosario Central today. They were stubborn and tackling hard, having a man sent off and picking 6 yellow cards. Boca also picked up 6 yellows when hitting them back hard. The game nearly over boiled into a fight after Galeano headed in from a Piatti corner. Boca walked away with a narrow win and were lucky no one was seriously injured.

Mr Drezzy was happy Boca picked up the 3 points, but he was angry with Rosario's approach to the game, but he declined to comment on the referee because there will surely be a F.A investigation

Boca cruised through to the next round, thrashing Velez 8 - 1 on Aggregate. Mr Drezzy made 9 changes to the team, confident Velez couldn't score 5 or more goals. It was Conca, who hadn't been dropped, scoring the first goal on two minutes. This virtually ended any Velez come back. Velez folded and on ten minutes, Correa wrapped up the tie, with a curling effort.
Just before half time, Razzotti scored a header but it didn't matter, Boca were 7-1 up and had two away goals. On 75, Jo scored another trademark header.
A pretty slow game, with Boca killing them off within the first ten minutes

SuperClasico...Just days away

6c4d6dc59bf3.jpg

These two teams from Buenos Aires, Argentina are the protagonists of what is known as, Superclásico (Superderby Spanish, clásico –meaning classic– is the word used instead of derby in Argentina). Boca Juniors is traditionally regarded as the club of Argentina's working class, in contrast with the supposedly more upper-class support base of cross-town Atlético River Plate. The rivalry between Boca Juniors and River Plate is most intense, and the team's fans usually take to distribute posters to tease the other after a defeat between them or even a loss in any major competition, or to show off after winning the local league or an international championship.

River+Plate+vs+Boca+Juniors+Live+Stream.jpg

In 2004, British newspaper The Observer made a list of 50 sporting things you must do before you die, with Watch Boca Juniors Play River Plate in Buenos Aires at the top of the list. Due to their huge fan bases (Boca has 40% of the Argentine population and River 33%), contrary to the popular claim that Boca is club of the half plus one (la mitad más uno), and remarkable success, the enmity encompasses a major part of the country's populace. Known worldwide for the passion of the fans, the stands of both teams are loaded with passionate songs (often based on popular Argentine rock band tunes) against their rivals, fireworks, flags and rolls of paper. Sometimes ending in riots between the hardest supporters of both sides or against the police. Tourists from around the globe come to Argentina to watch the match, sometimes even with packages that include a ticket to the Superclásico

He didn't want to lose this one and when Boca scored their first, a Galeono header, he made the point of jumping around like a maniac. Three minutes later, he was at it again, this time after Formica hit a brilliant shot, which beat the River Keeper.
River were jumping in every where, collecting alot of warning and yellow cards, but Boca were not put off, with Damian Diaz scoring from just five yards out. River rarely threatened and it was Boca who walked away with the bragging rights

boca-juniors-vs-river-plate.jpg

Mr Drezzy looked like a Boca fan during the game, jumping for joy, screaming for more goals. His side had won, and now were on route for a Second Opening Stage title

Boca had most of their players away on international duty, so to get something was fantastic. Piatti, over looked for Argentina, slotted home a penalty after he was taken down in the area. The game could have gone either way, but Boca ended up with the slender win. Boca will have alot of work to do in Brazil if they are to reach the finals.

A tense local Derby for Mr Drezzy and his Boca team. The atmosphere at the Pedro Bidegain was awesome, you couldn't hear your own voice. It was like this last season, and it was the same last time. It took only twenty minutes for Boca to open the scoring, Lucas Barrios heading in from close range. San Lorenzo pushed on but couldn't find an equaliser, but at the same time, Boca didn't make their chances pay. It was at the end of the game when Boca wrapped up all 3 points, With a left footed volley, Rodriguez continued his good form. Boca won 2-0

He also went on to rip into national hero, Diego Maradona. Mr Drezzy questioned if Mr Maradona was back to his old habits. How the **** would he bring Tevez and Messi to Boca? Tevez was looking back at his best in Manchester, and Messi would never leave Barcelona. Mr Drezzy went on to add that if Diego was such a huge Boca fan, then maybe he should support them rather then trying to get a job in between his cocaine binges!

Monzon (51)

Atletico%20Home%20Stadium.jpg

Boca were bullied around the pitch for the first half, in this tense Semi Final. The Brazilians came close on numerous occasions and Boca can count them selves lucky for going into the break level.
But after half time, Boca came back out and refused to be bullied, passing the ball around. arse_boca_recopa.jpg

If Arsenal could keep playing the way they were playing and sign a few decent defenders, then they could be one of the best teams in Argentina. They took it to Boca in the back and forth match, never letting their heads Drop. Torres scored a tap in on 11 minutes but Arsenal came straight back and Obolo equaled the scored tow minutes later.
After the break, Campestrini headed into his own net, but yet again, the scores were equal as Arsenal didn't let their heads drop, and hit Boca on the break, Franzoia scoring a lovely left footed shot. It looked as if the game would end in a draw, which would have been a fair result but Conca had different ideas, volleying in the winner 6 minutes from time

Boca got the better of Arsenal again today, but Mr Drezzy knew it was only a matter of time that Arsenal were getting the better of them. With the win, Boca had almost captured the Opening Stage championship again
