1-1 draw away at Ipswich isn’t too bad and it means that we go into the draw for the semi final of the FA Cup with the replay being played in the next week or so. Hopefully we can get past Ipswich and into the Semi Final of the cup

Poor draw really at home to a team that we should be winning really. We had all of the chances and all of the possession but we just couldn’t capitalise on the domination.

MARCH REVIEW

View attachment 189030

Kind of a half and half month really for the lads, with 1 win, 2 draws and a loss at home to Chelsea. In to the semi final of the FA Cup if we beat Ipswich on Wednesday

PLAYER OF THE MONTH – Idrissa Gueye

View attachment 189029

Gueye has had a brilliant month for the team this month. With 2 MOTM awards after 2 games. He has performed well the whole season, and I hope he can keep it up for the rest of the games.

Still in 9th position, which is absolutely brilliant for the lads. Hopefully we can keep our position in the top 10, but it will be a tough time with hard teams to come up against

A game that we well and truly deserved to lose really, and it was a deserved 2-1 victory the blue side of Manchester. Jack Grealish picking up another MOTM as well for the boys.

Brilliant win for the boys that takes us to Wembley and into the Semi Final of the FA Cup against what is sure to be a very strong Arsenal side. Hopefully we can get a result against them and take us to the final

Another win for the lads against a strong Newcastle side, and it came due to a rare goal by Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom. Jordan Amavi picking up a 9.0 rating is brilliant for the lad as well.

I’m proud of the boys for getting to the Semi Finals of the FA Cup, and it was quite obvious really how this game was going to in the end. This gives me confidence for next season for how well we could play

I guess a 2-2 draw against Norwich isn’t too bad, but I’m slightly disappointed by the fact that we conceded a goal in the 93rd minute. Another goal for Chuba Akpom, which is good to see near the end of his loan with us, and a nice goal from Jordan Veretout

Probably the best win of my reign so far as manager of Aston Villa. An incredible 3-1 away victory at White Hart Lane shows how far we have come since I took over in July 2015. 2 goals from Jordan Veretout and 1 for Ayew wrapped up the victory

APRIL REVIEW

View attachment 188716

75% good for this month really. The only 2 losses coming against strong Man City and Arsenal sides. But the victories over Tottenham, Ipswich and Newcastle cement our place in the top 10 so far, but with 3 games left, anything can happen.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH – Chuba Akpom

View attachment 188712

Akpom has had a brilliant month for the team this month. With 3 MOTM awards after 3 games, and numerous goals helping the team through games. He has performed well in the last few months, and we will have to see if we keep him after the summer.

Brilliant result to finish the season off. Another goal by ever-present Jordan Ayew and a rare goal for young full back Jordan Amavi gives us a brilliant 2-1 win to finish off a majestic season for the claret and blues

END OF SEASON REVIEW AND AWARDS

View attachment 188693

Brilliant way to finish off the season with an unbeaten May, capped off by a brilliant finish in the league. 7 points from 9 on offer is always nice to see, and hopefully this type of form can continue over into next season.

TOP GOALSCORER – Jordan Ayew

View attachment 188690

Another season where Ayew has come out on top in the goal scoring charts. With 16 goals this season, he has come out on top with Joaquin Larrivey and Jack Grealish following up with 9 and 8 respectively.

MOST ASSISTS – Martin Frydek

View attachment 188689

Frydek hasn’t been an ever-present player this season, but when he has played, he certainly knows where the play the pass and who to look for on the pitch.

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON – Jordan Amavi

View attachment 188688

A absolutely brilliant season by Amavi this year, with contributions at the back of the pitch, and at the front, collecting 4 MOTM Awards with 2 goals and 4 assists to cap off a brilliant season for Jordan

PLAYER OF THE SEASON – Jordan Veretout

View attachment 188687

Jordan has been brilliant this season with contributions in the middle of the park, and going forward and back hopefully his form can continue into next season, but it might be tough to keep such an influential player with teams most likely going to come in and try and take him.

Brilliant season for the lads finishing in a outstanding 8th position when predicted to finish 16th. hopefully we can build on this next season and stay consistent and carry on the great form that we finished this season with

I can't believe that we have qualified for Europe in only our second season at the club. i thought that finishing 8th meant that you wouldn't qualify for Europe, but I'm guessing one of the big teams did well in a cup or something, which meant that we qualified for the Europa League

Absolutely amazing! extra money and the ability to attract better players from Europe will really help push you forward, Maybe you should apply for the Villa job in real? :p

haahaa wouldn't that be a fun thing to do. i would have to persuade them to play Jordan Ayew more as well due to his goalscoring records for me

4 IN, 4 OUT

View attachment 188569

Aston Villa have already starting reshaping his side for the upcoming European Competition this season. 4 transfers in, and 4 transfers out as Lane looks to improve his squad for the 2017/18 season. 1 of the players coming in is 24-year-old Juan Fernando Quintero from FCP on a free transfer after his contract had run out at the Portuguese side. The Colombian international has arrived to rival Jack Grealish on the left and right hand side of the field. When asked about his new signing, Lane said, ‘he adds depth to the side, and pace down the wing. The only issue is that he was unable to collect a work permit, but he should be able to receive it sooner or later and make an impact for the club.’

Another signing made is 22-year-old Naby Keita from FC Red Bull Salzburg fro 3.5 million. The Guinean international arrives to shore up the midfield and add some defensive ability to the side. ‘He is very strong and very young, so he has loads of time to grow. Hopefully he can get some game time, but the form of Veretout and Gueye may cause some competition for the midfield places.

Further, Villa have signed 25-year-old Gino Peruzzi from PSG for 5.5 million. The Argentinian full back is most definitely going to be starting for the side, with Crespo and Richards not being as influential as they were in previous years. ‘Perotti is a great steal from such a big side in Paris St Germain, and he is definitely going to be our starting right back’

Finally, Villa have brought in 24-year-old Cican Stankovic from FC Red Bull Salzburg. The Austrian goalkeeper has been brought in to challenge Brad Guzan, as they haven’t really had a player that has challenged Guzan in the past seasons. ‘being only 24, and a stand out keeper already, he is certainly going to be in and around the first team for years to come.

In terms of the outs, there have been 4 of note to speak about. The first being Aly Cissokho who has been sold to Brighton for 1.2 million. The form of Amavi, Crespo and Armero has pushed Cissokho away from the first team. Another sale is the joint sale of Scott Sinclair and Gabby Agbonlahor to Championship side Ipswich Town. 1.6 million and 2.6 million respectively for each player. The increase in age and the younger players coming through has limited the chances for the 2 players in recent years. Finally, Martin Hansen has been sold to Burnley for 50k. The arrival of Stankovic has pushed Hansen even further away from the first team, so it was right to let him go now.
