IMO, THE Best.

I think this is the best on the site to be honest! I am trying to do similar with the Vale and am doing pretty well but I started off a league lower!

Great story Deano hope updates are coming soon

P.S Murphy seems to be scoring a few more as a deep lying forward but still not prolific! Thanks

Very nice update mate you will propably win the Ecc after 1 or 2 years if you keep going like that.

ithink this is the best on the site its amazing all roudn job you should get knighted for this lol

This is why I cant wait for the new patch to come out because I'm dying to get on with my Stockport one to try and do what you've done!

January

Following a fantastic year it is going to be tough to emulate that but we are in great shape despite the small squad, I fear that may come into play later on in the season.

FA Cup 3rd Round -
York (Away)

York
0 Brentford 2

League 2 opposition meant this was a must win and we performed slightly within ourselves but got the victory nevertheless.
Vincenzo Rennella utilized his fantastic finishing and put us ahead under 10 minutes which gave us firm control of the match. Anthony Vanden Borre finished a neat team move 10 minutes after the break which killed the game off.

EPL -
Tottenham (Home)

Brentford
1 Tottenham 0

View attachment 36911

It's always hard against Spurs but we grinded out a hard fought victory today. Chances were few and far between but thankfully
Rhys Murphy was clinical despite his lack of form this year to score the only goal of the game early on.

EPL -
Aston Villa (Away)

Aston Villa
2 Brentford 0

View attachment 36908

We were dreadful today and showed no desire in winning this game. Our play was predictable and one dimensional, we did ourselves no favours and they picked us off. Dire.

FA Cup 4th Round -
Birmingham (Home)

Brentford
1 Birmingham 0

View attachment 36909

Very difficult game as always against Birmingham but once again we dug in deep and drew out a vital in win in our quest for Champions League qualification.
Rhys Murphy was the difference again scoring a goal out of nothing.

EPL -
West Brom (Home)

Brentford
1 West Brom 1

Chris Wood likes to score against us and he did again today after
Javi Garcia's petulance put us in the mire via his red card. The lads showed great character to equalise quickly thanks to a header by Sebastian Rudy, we were unlucky not to win it after.

EPL
-
Bristol City (Home)

Brentford
2 Bristol City 1

View attachment 36910

We dominated this game after
Rhys Murphy smashed it home 5 minutes in. We opened them up with the fluidity of our passing and exposed them down the middle very often. Tomas Necid went through and put us 2-0 ahead. It was a nervy end to the game thanks to to Diego Renans penalty miss.

January Overview

Despite the slip up at Villa it has been a decent month winning 2 and drawing 1 of the other 3 league games was good. We have also maded it into the last 16 of th FA cup which is nice, cup runs always add a bit more spice. I am being optimistic in my hopes for Champions League football for the next season but I don't see why it isn't possible, we can grind out the results when required toowhich is something only great teams do.

Nice one Dean, top of the table with Brentford is a class achievement :)

Keep it up.

I should really stop reading this :L It gets me more annoyed that the new patch isn't out!

Once again, QUALITY Stuff

Great going Deano. Poor Wigan are clearly the whopping boys of the season :D

February

We are hitting the business end of the season and I am fearing a slump of form could derail all of our plans. We haven't had the same sharpness despite our good results and our fortune will eventually run out.

EPL -
Manchester United (Away)

Man Utd
1 Brentford 2

View attachment 37686

We were dire in the first half and we should have been more than one down. Thankfully we came out and moved the ball a bit better, when we played very narrow it frustrated them and we were slightly fortunate with the own goal but there was no luck in
Tomas Necid's last gasp winner.

EPL -
Hull (Away)

Hull
2 Brentford 0

View attachment 37685

Not very sure what happened here. It seemed there was nothing I could do to prevent defeat, all the lads were very lethargic on the ball and we had no ideas which was very dissapointing. Hull are good at scraps and they deserved their win.

FA Cup 5th Round
-
Everton (Home)

Brentford
1 Everton 0

View attachment 37678

This was a very hard fought game and a cup run in this competition was vital following our early exit to City in the Carling Cup. There was nothing in it the whole game before
Sebastian Rudy scored a 25 yard piledriver to send us through.

Europa League 1st Knockout Round Leg 1
-
Dortmund (Away)

Dortmund
0 Brentford 1

View attachment 37680

This was always going to be hard, they were very impressive early on but as the game wore on they seemed to slowly run out of ideas. The difference was
Marcus Berg's goal on the stroke of half time.

Europa League 1st Knockout Round Leg 2
-
Dortmund (Home)

Brentford
3 Dortmund 1

View attachment 37677

Another touch match against the Germans but we have made it through. We were much better this time round taking the lead through
Tomas Necid. They equalised and had a large spell of dominance which threatened to see us concede more away goals. We dug in deep again and second half goals from Franco Zucuilini and Rhys Murphy gave us a famous victory.

EPL
-
Newcastle (Away)

Newcastle
1 Brentford 2

View attachment 37687

This could be a huge result come end of the season. They will feel hard done by as they were well on top throughout the match, we couldn't pass and retain any possession. It was difficult to watch at times but the lads once again showed their character and
Anthony Vanden Borre equalised with 25 minutes to go before Vincenzo Rennella smashed it home in the last minute. Great way to end the month.

February Overview

Despite the horrible slip up in Hull we have been great this season. 2 league wins tied with getting to the next stages in both the Europa League and the FA Cup. The lads keep drawing strength from somwehre and it has even surprised me considering our squad size, if we can continue this and consolidate our top 4 finish. We are top but for some bizarre reason some teams have loads of games in hand so we will see what happens, the title is a very long shot with how strong City look at present.
