March

Not alot of games this month but some very very decisive ones for us. We need to maintain composure for the big cup ties, if we do that then we can get the best out of ourselves.

Extremely frustrated. The local derbies are always difficult and we didn't perform to the best of our abilities. Very dissapointed with the lethargic half arsed effort here.

Last thing we wanted was a replay, we didn;t deserve to win this bore draw but neither did they.

Great performance that saw us run into a 3-0 lead within 25 minutes. A
Marcus Berg brace and a header from Vincenzo Rennella has all but sent us through to the Qtr finals.

Disastrous, we are really struggling at the moment and this loss was down to the self confidence at the moment. We were comfortably 1-0 up at the break and we just capitulated when they equalised. Very dissapointing, has not been the greatest month for us.

We have made it through but it has been in a desperately dissapointing manner. We made it hard for ourselves and the last 20 minutes were far more nail biting than they should have been considering the first leg.

March Overview

Wow,

We have certainly come off the rails as of late and the performances have seemed little bit hopeless. One of the biggest dips in our play since I have arrived at the club and it needs to be addressed urgently.

We have dented our Champions League qualification hopes but if we win enough of our remaining games I am hopeful we can achieve the impossible.

Incredible, you make the Premiership seem so easy! In previous saves I've spent years and years struggling to avoid relegation and you manage to top the league after a few seasons :O Respect!

April

This is definately our biggest month of the season, we have a lot of important matches that will determine the outcome of our season. This is time for heroes and hopefully all of the lads can step up.

They went ahead very early but it did not demoralise us, we pikced ourselves up and penned them in for a good 20 minutes,
Marcus Berg netted a brace to give us the narrow win.

We looked very tired today, there was no impotece in the attack and we were not decisive enough when the opportunities arrised. We've been dropping points too regularly lately and it is harming out hopes of Champions League Qualification.

Europa League Qtr Final Leg 1 -
Lazio (Away)

Lazio
1 Brentford 4

View attachment 38080

Fantastic display of counter attacking football today, we knew they would flood us out down the center so we played very wide and hit them on the break.
Marcus Berg put us ahead on the stroke of half time before they equalised but it seemed to rip roar us into life with Tomas Necid netting twice in 4 minutes before Jano Ananidze slid in the 4th to put the cherry on a very satisfying cake.

Europa League Qtr Final Leg 2 -
Lazio (Home)

Brentford
1 Lazio 1

View attachment 38064

We always very comfortable despite them taking the lead in the first half. The first leg score meant we needed to be professional and disciplined, the boys did that today so we were never really in trouble.
Marcus Berg made something out of nothing to equalise 15 minutes into the second half.

EPL -
Burnley (Away)

Burnley
2 Brentford 2

View attachment 38079

We were poor today and we should have beaten them, we showed how we could in the FA cup but we had another european hangover and it told on the pitch.
Tomas Necid put us ahead early but they scored 2 deserved goals and it looked like that was going to be that before Marcus Berg scored an equaliser with the actual last kick of the game.

Europa League Semi Final Leg 1 -
Atletico Madrid (Home)

Brentford
1 Athletico Madrid 2

View attachment 38062

They were better than us today and we weren't really on the ball defensively. We gave Aguero far too much space in behind the strikers and he exploited it setting up both goals. I feared the worst being 2-0 down under half an hour but we slightly raised our game and have given ourselves a small bit of hope with
Tomas Necid pulling one back late on. Still 2 goals conceded at home has made this very hard to turn around.

Finally a win in the league! Had been an awful slump in form in the league and we were losing a bit of confidence. We weren't great today but we did enough for the win with
Jano Ananidze setting us on our way before an own goal confirmed it.

Europa League Semi Final Leg 2 -
Atletico Madrid (Away)

Athletico Madrid
2 Brentford 1

View attachment 38061

Furious, we showed no response and let them do the exact same thing again. We were so poor defensively and were 2-0 down at the break again.
Rhys Murphy pulled one back but it was far too little too late. It's shame we lost this way but they are a very good side.

April Overview

It's been an extremely cluttered month for us. We won once and drew twice in the league which was okay but not great, we destroyed Lazio to get to the semi finals of the Europa League but Atletico swept us aside with ease and that is hard to take.

We have Chelsea in the FA Cup Semi final next month and that is a huge game, I am hoping we can pull out of the bag and reach our second consecutive domestic cup final which would be a fantastic achievment.

I cannot wait to see the end of the season :)

Absouloutely awesome! How long do you thin you can carry on with this before you get bored?
hopefully never!

end of season update today or tomorow.

thank you all for following.

Doing great Deano. Much depends on Man City's games in hand. Also had to laugh at Wigan, bottom of the table and 0 wins :D

Yeah mate, it doesn't get much better than that for them either haha.

hey great story mate btw what tactic did u use to make the impossible happen

May

Last month of the season and there is alot of matches to play. We have a tough end to the seson which doesn't help plus the fact it seems Man City don't look like dropping points any time soon so if we can finish in the top 4 I will be delighted.

We were outplayed here and this is a very damaging loss indeed. We usually put in a good performance against the top sides and we didn't turn up at all today.
Tomas Necid pulled one back but they scored 1 minute later to restore the 2 goal lead.

Away to the worst team in Premier League history (stastically) and it really showed. We were poor today and they never looked like threatening us.
Franco Zuculini scored a rare goal to put us in control before Rhys Murpy seealed it late on with a bullet header.

FA Cup Semi Final -

Amazing, over the moon to reach a cup final again but it was a very odd match with all the goals coming in the first half.
Marcus Berg netted a brace to put us in hysteria before they pulled one back. Rhys Murphy restored the 2 goal advantage in first half stoppge time only for them to pull it back again 2 minutes later. The second half was very tight, plenty of near misses but no clinical finishing like the first half produced.

Fantastic effort considering the slump we've had, Man Utd in the final is going to be very difficult though.

Dress rehearsal for the final and it was a very tight game. We matched them all over the park and both teams probably should have scored a couple each. They scored from a corner 83 minutes in, poor defending from Darnel Situ oddly enough.

It's always tough here for us and we were fortunate to come out with a win today. They were really up for it and the fans got behind them but we defended fantastically well again.
Anthony Vanden Borre scored what could be his last goal for the club 55 minutes in, the lad is negotiating with Man Utd so it seems likely he will go. Fantastic contribution if it is his last.

Man City had already won the league by the time this was played and it seemed both sets of players took to that. It would have been nice to win this game but the cup final is the priority now as CL qualification has been assured.

We started fantastically with Tomas Necid scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes and we should hve scored more in the half. For some reason we fell to pieces in the second and they dominated. Very poor way to end the season and we need to get our heads right for the final.

Overvierew

Well what can I say; it has been a great season for us in the league despite our little wobble towards the end we still managed to finish runners up which is an amazing achievment. If we win the FA cup it will be the most succesful season in our history so that is a mouthwatering prospect.

I think next season with the right guidance and transfers we could really dominate, we just need a bit more experience and we are getting there slowly but surely. We really came off the boil at the end there and I think that was down to fatigue and inexperience, we will be more than ready to take on City next season.

View attachment 39020

They dominated with a far superior goal difference, they have a great squad but hopefully next season we can match them.

View attachment 39022

Not a particularly high goalscoring season but Tomas Necid did well, Rhys Murphy got coupleless so neither were was prolific as before. Franco Zuculini was a beast for us as is showed by his tackling rate.

View attachment 39018

Very proud of this. I arrived with the club's valuation at
£3M and debts of £6M, now the club is worth £97M with no debt :) I believe this is due to me never spending all of my budget and the fact I never use monthly installments in transfers. We have never hit red since I have taken over and that says alot.

View attachment 39019

Marcus Berg getting the signing of the season accolade is nice but the real pride comes in the fact we are overachievers for the 3rd consecutive year :) It's a very nice accolade but my goal is to stop Brentford being considered an overachiever. I want this club to have world recognition.

thank you for following, the FA Cup final will be in the update along with the end of season stuff (player ratings etc). hope you will check that out, should be up tomorrow.

fantastic season mate!

I'm sure you will get the title next season :)

This is bigger than the Carling Cup final in truth, probably the biggest day in our history, and yes I never tire of saying that. We seem to struggle against Man Utd usually so it is definately going to be a big test of character but if we defend right we always have a chance.View attachment 39657

Pre-Match Team Talk

"They think we are here for the taking lads. Brentford are nothing but a "flash in the pan" team, a club without history. This is all we have been told since in the Premier League, we have been defying the odds, punching above our weight but last year we showed what we can do, how we can play against the best teams in this country, it's time now to prove we can maintain this.

No more flash in the pan.

They've been ***** this season, we know that but it hasn't stopped them from beating us in the league and there's no room for mistakes lads, they still have top players. Rooney can win the game on his own, push him out wide, we cannot let him dominate the middle.

You all know what to do, we know how to hurt them, we are the underdogs now let's bite them."

FA Cup Final - Man Utd (Wembley)

3 Minutes
Zuculini tugs down Anderson just outside the box, Tosic whips a ball into Rooney only for him to head narrowly over.

26 Minutes
Fabio advances with the ball,
Situ and Kilgallon continue to invite him on, he delivers a ball to Tosic who strikes it towards Henderson forcing a save out of the Irishman.

36 Minutes
Coleman with a first time ball down the to Zucuilini, he runs with the ball before laying it off to Javi Garcia who quickly despatches it to Ananidze, he finds the ball to Sebastian Rudy out wide who lays a pin point pass for Tomas Necid to strike on the half volley........GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Cracking goal strike by Necid

Brentford

44 Minutes

Half Time

56 Minutes
Neither team are on top but Man Utd get a rare sight at goal in the second half. Jonny Evans plays a long ball down that
Kilgallon gets all wrong. Valencia gets the better of him sweeping an effort at goal for Henderson to palm out wide. Phew.

72 Minutes
Both sets of teams are looking more tired and it seems to have taken its toll.
Rhys Murphy went in for a challenge with Rafael and has come out injured. The former Arsenal man is replaced by Marcus Berg.

76 Minutes
Sebastian Rudy aims a cross towards the far post, Necid manages to climb higher than Vidic forcing Foster into a fantastic save. So close to sealing the win.

84 Minutes
United have a corner kick, Tosic whips one in and
Javi Garcia manages to connect with it only for it to fall to Vidic, Zuculini comes in with a crunching tackle to disposess him only to give it away to Rooney. He plays it wide to Fletcher who half volleys it into the path of TOSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man Utd equalise with 5 minutes to go!

Brentford
1 Man Utd 1

89 Minutes
Kilgallon moves the ball out to Rudy who keeps the ball going, he finds Zuculini the middle who delivers a beautiful through ball for Necid to cling on to....NECID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRENTFORD HAVE WON IT!....oh no it's been dissalowed, the linesman has raised his flag very late here and the Brentford players are furious.

90 Minutes

FInal whistle

Extra Time

97 Minutes
Fabio creates himself some space, he skins
Diego Renan and hits it hard at Henderson who pulls off a miraculous save only for it to fall to ROOONEY.....another fantastic save from Henderson. Brentford are still in it.

100 Minutes
Nani goes in for a challenge with Tomas Necid and comes out of it far worse. Physio's have raced on immediately and it seems the lads game is over.

Half Time in Extra Time

105 Minutes
Half time in extra time and it still all square here. Penalties are looming.

112 Minutes
Anderson
gives a neat pass to Fletcher in space, he delivers a wonderful ball for Rooney who strikes it hard at
Henderson only for him to pull off yet another save.

120 Minutes
Some tidy play in the middle from
Zuculini and Sebastian Rudy allows Marcus Berg to clean through on goal....Berg to win it.....SAVE from Foster. Brentford were inches away from glory there. The full time whistle has just gone and it is going to Penalties.

Time for heroes.

Fabio to start things off here......GOAL! Cool as you like.

Brentford goal scorer
Tomas Necid must score here to keep Brentford in it. He places the ball down and takes a few steps back.....GOAL! Nerves of steel, Necid keeps Brentford going.

6-
6

Rafael steps up now in sudden death. His twin scored the first but that feels a very long time ago now. Rafael strikes it....SAVED! Not a good penalty struck right down the middle making it easy for
Henderson to make the first save of the shoot out. Advantage Brentford.

6-
6

Brentford Captain
Darnel Situ places the ball down. The French international has become a huge hit at Griffin Park since his arrival and now has a chance to make Brentford history

....
SITU........

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
Wembley errupts as Situ scores the winning penalty sending the Brentford fans into euphoria.

Brentford have won the FA cup against all the odds! The first FA cup in Brentford history and it cannot get any more dramatic! The stewards have done well to prevent a crowd invasion!

Brentford have made it to domestic cups in two consecutive years! A fantastic achievment for the football club.
