After that Copa Libertadores match that we were so close to winning, we are back focusing on Brasileirão and it was a great win overall. We finally beat Chapecoense since I started this story.

After a tight 1st half, Pierre broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute with a close range shot after a terrible giveaway by Ze Mario. Flavio doubled the lead with a close range effort. In the 90 minute, Renato gave away a penalty and Dodo scored to make it 3-0.

Next match will be against Goias.

Goias keeper Renan had one of the best performance that I ever seen from an opponent. Only 1 goal in 15 shots today and I was very impressed with their keeper. Also we finished the 1st half of the season undefeated with 16 wins and 3 draws in 19 matches.

The only goal of the match was in the 75th minute when Sherman Cardenas scored a well timed close range shot.

Next match will be against Macae at home.

Easy win against the newcomers Macae but I wish that we had scored more goals today. But a win is a win. Now with Sao Paulo draw against Criciuma, we now have a 10 point lead.

The first goal of the game came in the final moment in the 1st half when Flavio scored from close range. 6 minutes in the 2nd half, Jadson double the lead with a penalty shot after Davi Ceara gave it away.

Next game will be the 1st leg of the 4th round of Copa do Brasil against Criciuma.

1st leg of Copa do Brasil is done and we have a 2 goal lead coming back home. Lucas Pratto with 2 goals today and his 30th goal of the season.

Breno Lopes helped Atletico with the first goal of the game with an own goal in the 4th minute. Guilherme scored the second goal with a deftly execution finisher. Diogo Barbosa brought back Criciuma to one after a close range finisher in the 68th minute. Lucas Pratto regain the 2 goal lead after a nice effort from 13 metres. Criciuma came back again to cut the lead to one after Roger Guedes nice effort from close range. But Pratto ended Criciuma hopes with a goal in the 85th minute when header inside the 6 yard box.

Next game is a Brasileirão match against Flamengo.

Very tough game against our rivals Flamengo. I glad that tied against them but I concern that where are not scoring a lot in our previous games. But I'm still happy with the draw.

Marcelo Cirino started the scoring for Flamengo with good effort from close range. Marion scored the game tying goal after great executed shot from close range.

Next game will be the 2nd leg of Copa do Brasil agaisnt Criciuma at home.

As I tried to make my team attack more, they did what I told them but wasted too many opportunities. 1 goal in 28 shots is not the greatest thing in the world but a win is a win. With this win, we are through the next round of Copa do Brasil.

The only goal of the game was Lucas Pratto effort that was also deflected to make the game 1-0.

Next game will be against Coritiba at home

After defeating Criciuma 5-2 on aggregate, we were drew against Coritiba in the Quarterfinals. This will be the first ever encounter between the two teams in this competition. Atletico Mineiro has won the competiton in 2013 while Coritiba is a 2 time runnerup in 2011 and 2012. The 1st leg will be played on September 21st.

Also there was the draw for the Semifinals of Copa do Brasil:

Finally a game that we score more than 1 goal. In a very convincing win over Coritiba, Maicosuel scored a beautiful freekick from 20 metres.

Maicosuel started with a goal in the 36th minute with a placed shot from close range. Tabata double the lead while taking advantage of a Pedro Ken's error. Maicosuel ended the rout with an amazing freekick from 20 metres.

Next match will be against Internacional in Porto Alegre.

August was a great month as we won 7 of our 8 games this month. We finally beat Internacional but it was still a loss as we did not win Copa Libertadores. In Brasileirão, we only allowed 1 goal against in 5 matches this month. We also started our run for Copa do Brasil title run by eliminating Criciuma in the 4th round.

The 2016 Summer Olympics or officially known as the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, are the thirty-first Summer Olympic Games, the world's largest international multi-sport event that is held every four years. The host city of Rio de Janeiro was announced at the 121st IOC Session held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 2, 2009. The other finalists were Madrid, Spain; Chicago, United States; and Tokyo, Japan. Rio will become the first South American city to ever host the Summer Olympics, and the third city in the southern hemisphere to hold the games, after the 1956 and 2000 Olympics, both held in Australia.

The games will open on August 5, 2016 and the closing ceremony will be on August 21, 2016. But the sake of this post will be only about the men's football competition.

So the teams that qualified to the Knockout stage were France and Colombia from Group A, Germany and USA from Group B, Chile and Japan from Group C and Holland and Brazil from Group D. No Surprises in the Group Stage but there is a shocking result in the knockout stage.

So the Knockout stage results are:

France wins their 2nd Olympic Gold in football and their first one since 1984 in Los Angeles. France had to go through USA in the Quarterfinals and won 4-0 before facing the host Brasil in a thrilling 3-2 win. France met the 1976 Olympic gold medalist Germany and after down 2-0, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Paul Pogba, and Yassine Benzia helped France to come back and win 3-2. Brazil finished with a Bronze Medal after defeating Japan 6-0 but the most memorable moment was the 11-1 win over Chile that was the biggest win since Denmark defeated France 17-1 in 1908 Olympics. This match featured 2 hat-tricks by Carlos and Talisca.

I so happy that we did not lose this game as we all know that I have a terrible record against them and we maintain that undefeated record to 23 games. In terms of this game, it was really a borefest and nothing exciting happen.

No goals or big moment were in this match.

Dominated performance against Santos today and a great playing by Gil Romero. With this win and a Sao Paulo loss to Cruzeiro, we now have a 16 point lead over them.

Gaston Gil Romero scored the first goal of the game after with a incisive finish from 12 metres. Cardenas 18 metres freekick gave Atletico a 2-0 lead after 30 minute. Gil Romero scored his 2nd of the night with a great effort from 15 metres. Felipe Santana completed the rout when finished a well time shot from close range.

This was a very disappointing game as Carlos really let his team down today. Even though he scored, Carlos was caught diving (Which I Don't support) and was sent off.

Carlos scored in the 30th minute after scoring a incisive shot from 14 metres. Carlos was sent off before the half after getting his 2nd yellow when he was caught diving. Cleber Santana scored the equalizer on a penalty shot after Leonardo Silva gave it away.

Another draw but this time it was a Copa do Brasil match and I don't really mind we got important away goal even though we didn't really score it.

Former prodigy Keirrison scored in the 50th minute with a shot from 11 metres. But in the 80th minute, Cardenas shot was poorly handled by Coritiba keeper Victor Brasil and went it, giving the keeper an own goal.

With this win, we officially became the first team since the 1979 Internacional team that went 26 games unbeaten (But were the only team to win the title undefeated (record 19-7-0)). But this game was very close that certainly made the neutral fans happy.

Felipe Santana scored the first goal of the game with a diving header from close range. Lucas Pratto double the lead just before the half whe n he shot a powerful shot that also hit the post before it went in. Former Atletico Mineiro winger Fernandinho made it a one goal lead when he scored from close range. Geuvanio did the comeback in the 78th minute after a powerful that went through Victor. But Jesus Datolo pulled the game winner in the end of the game after a long range effort. Datolo also had to leave the game with a Bruised Rib and will be out for 7-10 days.

This month was a bit off a let down as we only won 3 of the 6 games played. The highlight of the month was the draw against Internacional in Porto Alegre as we have a terrible record against them. The match against Criciuma was disappointment was I felt that we should have won that.

After 27 games, we are on top of the table with 69 points with a 15 point lead over Palmeiras. Sao Paulo has fallen a bit since the beginning of September. Title holder Corinthians are still free falling even with the coaching change, I don't see them coming back to a respectable finish.
