Lucas Pratto was called up by Ramon Diaz to play for Argentina for South America World Cup Qualifying games against Venezuela and Bolivia.

Victor and Carlos were called up by Dorival Junior South America World Cup Qualifying games against Uruguay and Chile.​
 
This is great mate. Doing fantastically. I can't tell you how happy I am to see you've got Sherman Cardenas on the books! He was one of my go-to signings on FM07!! It was also off the back of all the hype around the "American Pie" movies so he was affectionately known as "the Sherminator" by me.

We should have scored many more goals tonight but we wasted to many opportunities. It make it worse, Atletico Paranaense had a very limited chances and they still manged to get one past us.

Gilberto, after a stint in MLS, scored the first goal of the game when he cleanly stuck a shot from close past Victor. Dodo had to leave the game after the 1st half with an injury and was replaced by Sherman Cardenas. Carlos tied the game in the 60th minute after a well executed shot from range and then Carlos gave Atletico Mineiro the lead 4 minutes later after a tap in. Sherman Cardenas after the game was holding his elbow and it looks like he will be out.

Both Dodo and Cardenas will miss some time with injuries and will really affect our attacking core. Guilherme when healthy or Felipe will replace Dodo and Tabata and Maicosuel will split time for Cardenas.

Next match will be against Fluminense at home.​

Our biggest Signing is Ramires for the season long loan from Chelsea and he has been playing amazing for us. The best signing was Felipe Santana for only £300K and has been a key defender for our club. Sherman Cardenas and Gaston Gil Romero have been great since joining us and I'm hoping they can continue to impress. Free Transfer Jadson have been an excellent pickup as a backup. Diego Claudino hasn't crack up the first team but I'm hoping for next season he will impress. Eron and Renan Henrique were brought in by our Head of Youth Development Manager Andre Figueiredo for our future.

Many of our players were loaned out for development but the key loanee are Ezequiel Cirigliano at Botafogo, Cleiton at Macae and Alex Silva at Flamengo. We made a record breaking sell for Luan after Benfica bought him and he has been playing great with 3 goals and 7.33 avg rating. Andre since sold to Palmeiras has not been great for them and at one point was left at the reserve squad. Currently is unhappy and wants to left the club. Giovanni Augusto has been used in every game since the 2016/17 Primeira Liga started for Martimo.​

Great game overall by the club, our Captain Leonardo Silva scored his 1st goal of the season to help us win. With this win, we are now 11 points away from winning the Brasileirão for the 1st time since 1971.

Leonardo Silva started the scoring in the 67th minute with a volley after Lucas Pratto head in the 18 yard box. Two minute, Jadson double the lead after taking advantage of Jean's error to score.

Next game will be against our hated rivals Cruzeiro.​

Cardenas easily became one of my favourite players to manage in FM. And Love "the Sherminator" nickname, don't get mad if I end up using that haha.

All good thing must come to an end. Unfortunately, The good thing ended for us and to make it even worst, it was ended by our most hated rivals. After going 23 wins and 6 draws, we finally lost our 1st match. But we forgot to show up of this game.

Jemerson started in the 13th minute when he scored with a close range shot. Lima tied the game with a powerful shot from close range. Datolo had to leave the game with an injury and was replaced by Marion. Lima scored his 2nd of the night with a fluke goal after Felipe Santana hit Lima with the ball and rolled in. Neilton scored Cruzeiro 3rd goal with a freekick from 24 metres. Neilton scored his 2nd and Cruzeiro last goal in the 81st minute with another freak goal after Jemerson cleared it wrong and deflected of Neilton.

Datolo is out for 8-11 days with a bruised thigh and as our Attacking core is now thin, I will have to have to make some formation changes to work around the available players.

Next game will be against Botafogo.​

WHAT A COMEBACK!!! I thought that we were going to lose our 2nd straight game and start a terrible streak but my players said that they were not going to give up.

Matheus Pereira started the scoring with a goal in the 25th minute after shot from close range. Matheus Pereira scored his 2nd of the night when he had a well executed shot from range to make it 2-0 Botafogo. Felipe pulled Atletico back to one when he header from close range after Jadson crossed it. Lucas Pratto scored 3 minute later to tie the game after he shot from close range. Tabata completed the comeback in the 77th minute after a well timed finished from range.

Next match will be against Coritiba for the 2nd leg of Copa do Brasil.​

Dominating win over Coritiba and I'm happy for our first big win since our 4-0 win over Santos early September. Carlos had a huge game today by scoring all 4 goals today. With this win, we head to the Semifinals and will be face either Cruzeiro or Internacional.

Carlos scored the first goal of the game with an effort that also hit the post before it went in. It was 2-0 after Carlos scored his 2nd with an accurate finish inside the box. Carlos made it 3-0 with his 3rd after taking advantage from Reginaldo error and took a shot from long range. Carlos scored his 4th of the night after a close range finish.

Next game will be against Palmeiras at home.​

And the semifinal match that we will be facing is no other than Cruzeiro. Yes our rivals Cruzeiro for the 6th time this season. This will be the 2nd time that both teams have met each other in this competition. The other time was in 2014 when Atletico Mineiro defeated Cruzeiro in the finals 3-0 on aggregate to win their 1st ever Copa do Brasil title. Both teams have won the competition with Atletico Mineiro once in 2014 and Cruzeiro (tied with Gremio with most title in this competition.) have won 4 times in 1993, 1996, 2000, and 2003. The 1st leg will be on October 26th at Mineirao with Cruzeiro being the host.

Excellent win over Palmeiras tonight as we ended their 18 game unbeaten streak. With this win, we qualified to the 2017 Copa Libertadores and guarantee a top two finish for this competition.

Lucas Pratto scored in the 8th minute after an accurate finish inside the penalty area. Pierre double the lead when he scored with a close range effort. Lucas Pratto took advantage of Gabriel error to score a tidy shot from 15 metres to make it 3-0. Leandro Pereira pulled back one for Palmeiras in the 54 minute after Maicosuel's mistake and scored from close range. Diego Lugano, who retiring at the end of the season, scored the final goal of the game with a close range effort.

With the win, we qualified for next year Copa Libertadores Group Stage.

Next match will be the 1st leg of the Copa do Brasil Semifinals against Cruzeiro.​

We are in a hole now that we lost the first leg of the Semifinals. Even worse now that we lost 2 in a row against them. For the return leg, we need a big game by everyone if we want to win this competition.

Adrian Ramos scored in the 27th minute after a simple finish from close range. Neilton double the lead 4 minutes later when he scored a tidy shot from 11 metres. Guilherme had to leave the match with an injury and will be out for 4-5 weeks.

Guilherme is out with a Twisted Ankle and will be out for 5 weeks. He also may miss the rest of the season as their only 1 month left. Dodo and Felipe will split time in the minute until Guilherme is back and match fit.

Today match will be Clube Atlético Mineiro vs Associação Atlética Ponte Preta in the 33rd game of the 2016 Brasileirão season. Atletico is in 1st place with 81 points and Ponte Preta is 14th with 35 points. What so special about this fixture? Atletico need only a win to secure their 1st title since 1971.

Today match will be the Estádio Independência and it will feature a majority of the Galo fans. Last meeting between these two teams ended with a 3-2 win for Atletico Mineiro at Estádio Moisés Lucarelli in Campinas, São Paulo. Atletico needs on a win to win the Brasileirão as Sao Paulo can only get 83 points if they win their remaining 6 games.

Our Squad today is a mix of the first 11 and reverse as I'm focus on the return leg for Copa do Brasil. We need to be aware of Fernando Bob and Renato Caja as they are the main force of the team.

As the officials go to the middle, they signal both goalies to see if they are ready. Ponte Preta will start the game.

8th minute: Marcos Rocha played the ball down the line to Cardenas. Cardenas see Ramires open in the left and plays it to him and immediately gives it to Atletico's Felipe. Felipe sees Cardenas running into the box wide open and gives a through ball to him. Cardenas gets the ball but Ponte Preta's Felipe slides across Cardenas and dispossess him cleanly and it out for a corner.

9th minute: Datolo takes the corners and swings it to the middle. Cardenas jumps very high and heads it...... JUST OVER THE BAR!!!

11th minute: Victor Luis plays the ball down the line to Geraldo. The play is stopped because Marcos Rocha fouls Geraldo. Renato Caja immediately takes the freekick while Atletico players were still preparing themselves. The ball goes to the middle but Felipe Santana reacts quickly and clears the ball for a corner.

12th minute: Renato Caja takes the corner and swings it to the middle but Victor grabs the ball in the air.

15th minute: Atletico's Felipe passed the ball into the penalty area looking for Cardenas. Cardenas, from a tight angle, shoots a hopeful looking shot.... JUST GOES BY WIDE!!!

19th minute: Pratto has the ball and feeds it to Gil Romero. He sees Ramires open and rolls to him. Ramires goes up and laid it to Atletico's Felipe and he takes a shot from long range... SAVE BY DARLEY and pushes away for the corner.

19th minute: Felipe takes the corner and swings it to Cardenas. Cardenas attempts to volley it from a very tight angle... BLOCKED BY DARLEY and Bruno Silva clears the ball out for a throw-in.

19th minute: Marcos Rocha takes the throw-in and plays it down the line for Cardenas. Cardenas runs up and curls the ball to the middle. Pratto jumps and heads it.... JUST GOES OVER THE CROSSBAR!!! The Galo fans are now singing as they know that their team is very close of scoring the 1st goal of the game.

23rd minute: Marcos Rocha takes the throw-in and plays it to Cardenas. Cardenas tries to shoot the ball from an angle. The ball flies to the net and Jemerson forces the ball to the net... HITS THE CROSSBAR!!! Ball comes back and Felipe Santana heads in the rebound... HOW DID HE MISS THAT!!! Somehow Felipe Santana manages to not score on a open net. Goal kick for Ponte Preta.

24th minute: Freekick for Atletico Mineiro. Datolo takes the freekick and plays it to Gil Romero. Gil Romero takes a shot from the volley but its short and lands to Ramires. Ramires tries a speculative effort... JUST GOES BY WIDE!!!

29th minute: Pablo plays the ball left first time to Bruno Silva's feet. Silva gives it to Ponte Preta's Felipe who immediately see Victor Luis open and rolls to him. Victor Luis goes inside the area and passes to Geraldo. Geraldo takes a shot... SAVE BY VICTOR!!!

33rd minute: Corner kick for Atletico Mineiro. Datolo goes to take the corner and swings it to the middle. Gil Romero jumps over Victor Luis and heads it... JUST GOES BY WIDE!!!

36th minute: Throw-in for Ponte Preta. Victor Ferraz takes the throw-in and give it to Pablo, who immediately gave back to Victor Ferraz. He goes up and plays it Joao Paulo. Joao Paulo takes a chance to the net... JUST GOES BY WIDE!!!

39th minute: Atletico's Felipe plays the ball in the area for Pratto. Pratto run and crosses the ball to the near post. Gil Romero out jumps Victor Luis and heads it... JUST OFF THE POST!!! Pablo goes in and clears the ball away for a corner.

40th minute: Datolo takes the corner and swings it to the middle. Pablo clears it but Atletico Felipe gets the ball and gives it to Ramires. Ramires sees Cardenas wide open and plays a great ball to him. Cardenas from a tight angle shot the ball... SAVE BY DARLEY!!! and ball goes out for a corner.

40th minute: Atletico's Felipe takes the corner and passes to Cardenas. Cardenas sees Lucas Pratto and gives to him. Pratto tries to shoot from an angle... SAVED BY DARLEY!!! But Darley lets the ball free. Lucas Pratto takes his own rebound... SAVE BY DARLEY AGAIN!!! This time Darley clutches the ball into his chest.

43rd minute: Freekick for Ponte Preta. Junior Cesar upends Victor Ferraz by tripping him over and the referee shows Cesar a yellow.

45th minute: The 4th official shows 2 more minute of extra time.

45th + 2 minute: The official calls Half time.

Atletico Mineiro is trying to score but Darley is playing like a wall and will not let anything go through.

2nd Half: The official gets ready for the 2nd half. Atletico Mineiro will start.

46th minute: Freekick for Atletico Mineiro. Datolo runs to the ball and takes the freekick. Datolo kicks the ball to the area but Bruno Silva intercepts the ball and heads it away. Ramires regains the ball and gives it to Cardenas, who plays back to Ramires and gives it to Datolo. Datolo runs in the area and crosses the ball to the middle. Cardenas sees the ball coming in and taps it in... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL!!! Sherman Cardenas aka the Sherminator (thanks Yeti01) makes the game 1-0 and closer to the title. The fans are jumping and singing knowing that in less than 45 minute they will win the title.

46th minute: Substitution for Ponte Preta. Ronaldo comes off and is replaced by Dede.

52nd minute: Felipe Santana laid the ball to Cardenas. Cardenas goes up and finds Gil Romero open and gives to him. Gil Romero found Datolo open and gave him the ball with a pass. Datolo tries his luck with distance... JUST OVER THE BAR!!!

54th minute: Geraldo upended Felipe Santana and referee tried to give him an advantage but called a freekick. The official calls Geraldo to him and shows a yellow card.

56th minute: Datolo takes the freekick and swings to the area. Pablo jumps and clears it. Gil Romero jumps over Bruno Silva and headed pass to Cardenas. Cardenas hits the volley... SAVE BY DARLEY!!!

64th minute: Freekick for Atletico Mineiro. Felipe Santana takes it and flicks it to Cardenas. Cardenas runs and gives it to Gil Romero, who immediately passes to Atletico's Felipe. Felipe puts the ball forward and tries a long range effort from 25 metres... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLL!!! As the Brazilian calls it "GOLAZO" This strike will be highlighted all over the world. Felipe make it 2-0 and one step closer to winning.

68th minute: The referee shows Ramires a yellow card after penalizing him for a trip on Victor Luis.

68th minute: Substitution for Atletico Mineiro. Junior Cesar comes off and Emerson Concaicao comes in.

69th minute: Substitution for Ponte Preta. Renato Caja comes off and is replaced by Ferrugem.

73rd minute: Datolo needs medico attention after being challenged by Ferrugem but will return to play.

75th minute: Substitution for Ponte Preta. Bruno Silva goes out and Raphael Silva replaces him.

76th minute: Substitution for Atletico Mineiro. Ramires comes off and Pierre comes in.

85th minute: Freekick for Atletico Mineiro. Datolo goes to take it. He plays it to Atletico's Felipe but Ponte Preta's Felipe knocks the ball out. Cardenas runs to the ball and shoots... SAVE BY DARLEY!!! But the ball is loose and Felipe Santana get the rebound... SAVE BY DARLEY ONCE AGAIN!!! The ball is out for a corner.

86th minute: Atletico's Felipe takes the corner and swings it to the middle but Ponte Preta defender clears the ball.

90th minute: The 4th official added 2 more minutes for extra time.

90th minute: Substitution for Atletico Mineiro. Datolo comes off and Tabata comes in.

90th + 3 minute: The official calls it full time. ATLETICO MINEIRO WINS THE BRASILEIRAO FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1971!!! Now with 5 games remaining before the season ends, they can now focus on Copa do Brasil. The title presentation will be on November 27th when Atletico plays their final home game of the season against Chapecoense.

October Results

This month featured 8 games including 2 Copa do Brasil matches. This month also featured losses that was handed by our hated rivals Cruzeiro. Cruzeiro gave us our first loss of the Brasileirão after 29 games unbeaten. But against Ponte Preta, we clinched the title with 5 games remaining for our 1st title since 1971. For Copa do Brasil, we defeated Coritiba easily and made it to the Semifinals where we lost the 1st leg 2-0.

With 5 games remaining in the season and with the title already decided, I want to focus on Copa do Brasil. I will start featuring younger player in the remaining games are a tryout to see who makes it next season. Our first game of the month will be against Cruzeiro for the 2nd leg of the Copa do Brasil Semifinals and it will be at home.
