ALDRIDGE ERA COMING TO AN END?
By Gary Neville

Liverpool's most successful manager since the days of Bob Paisley and Bill Shankly's tenure at Anfield may be coming to an abrupt end.

The Liverpool manager has four years remaining on his contract, however a boardroom row with chairman Thomas Werner over funds has left the Scouser in a problematic situation.

This summer, Aldridge has been forced to sell players and to halt the clubs ever-growing debt.

The Liverpool legend had asked Werner for a new stadium to be built in honor of the club's 125 year anniversary, the chairman had said that he would plan the stadium and purchase a plot of land. However he cancelled the plans and forced Aldridge to sell players leaving the boss frustrated.

LIVERPOOL FANS CAMPAIGN FOR ALDRIDGE

View attachment 461825View attachment 461824

Drama in Liverpool today as fans march through the streets protesting against American owner Thomas Werner.

They were protesting due to growing concerns over legendary manager John Aldridge's future at Anfield.

The likeable manager, 59, has won a remarkable 10 trophies with The Reds in five years and is ranked as one of the best managers of all time.

However a recent dispute with the Liverpool owner has left his future uncertain and chairman Werner has spoken of the situation.

"Obviously losing John would be disastrous for the team but if he continues speaking out, we may be forced to take drastic measures." He said "any allegations that I have accepted offers over his head are unbelievable, however in these rocky times we must take certain measures financially and I merely suggested the possibility of making more money on transfers."

Aldridge has been uncharacteristically mute about this situation, however it is believed he is angered by the sale of four-time Fans Player of The Season, Dede and Champions-League winning striker Danny Welbeck to title-rivals Manchester City for a combined fee of ?43m and central-midfielder Keisuke Honda to Atletico Madrid for ?20m.

Troublesome Pre-Season

The team were troubled by the ongoing protests in Liverpool and the European Championship blighted the pre-season, meaning we could only have two games to prepare ourselves for a third title defence.

Derby County 0-2 Liverpool
Eriksen, Jose

New-boy Christian Eriksen and young centre-half Charles Jose scored to beat The Rams

Southampton 3-0 Liverpool

Review-All in all I'm pretty ****** off at Werner for sanctioning these sales without my say-so. I had plans for both Sterling and Honda in the coming season however he put a definite stop to them, he also basically raped my midfield meaning a total rebuild of it with the signings of Martinez and Eriksen.
