Thanks for the test mate and the detailed review on the Sir Goalalot one ;)

mate, did you test tff tactic with man marking?

No I didn't, please see post 18 where I did mention the performance could be better when used with man marking. However OI's were used as instructed.

Noticed when you tested Puskas you had Noble as MCL and Song MCR. Due to footedness or? Zyndar recommended a defensively better player on the MCL spot so Song would of probably been a better choice as MCL and Noble as MCR

Very good point. As you might have gathered the only changes I have made to the West Ham team is to mirror players feet. Noble is now left footed. I looked at the player instructions and decided it would be better for a naturally left footed player to play MCL, as it is easier to launch all types of attacks, especially counters if the ball is on the stronger side. Also if you look at Noble's stats, he is not bad defensively at all, he is described as a tireless defensive midfielder. Stats are good, not quite as good as Song's but I believed his natural footedness was better suited to the position.

I guessed that was the "issue". Don't get me wrong he's not bad but you answered it yourself. Song is better so the results might have been different if Song was left footed and Noble right footed. Just thought I'd point it out, y'know, throwing spanners and all that :D

Constructive criticism and feedback is more than welcome. I don't do this to inflate my own ego but to give something back to this fantastic community, who I have relied on for so long to make up for my own tactical deficiencies.

Finished testing Annihilator v7, Black Knight and Deep Tribute.

We have a clear leader and a test league winner. After testing almost all the popular tactics on the forum, I didn't believe it was possible for any tactic to conquer the test league, however this has now been accomplished. The winner is TFF's Plug and Play 4-4-1-1.

Also I have tested a number of tactics for three rounds just to see the consistency of the db. The average result is around 10 points +- deviation, so if annihilator v7 scored 10+ and plug and play -10, then they would be on an equal footing. Tactic testing is not an exact science, however it gives a good indiciation of how well the tactic can perform given the right circumstances.

I will continue to test tactics with the same db until I have finished working on the new one. Once the new db is finished, I will switch over and start testing tactics on that one.

All tactics are tested with the OI's instructed by the author. You can also see the OI's used for each tactic in the dropbox screenshots folder. I always use the OI's, team selection and set piece guidelines instructed by the author of the tactic.

Did you use any OIs on Date 442 test?

I have finished testing almost all the popular tactics on this forum with the modified West Ham test team. West Ham were predicted to finish 8th in the test league, so this would replicate a solid mid table/top 10 team. Although I have modified some of the AI manager tendencies so some teams will always attack and some will mostly defend, one test is not enough to declare a clear winner.

I have slightly modified my original db, hopefully it is now even more accurate. I will re-test all the tactics which scored 135+ points in the West Ham test with Liverpool. I have again slightly modified the Liverpool team by changing a few roles and mirroring players feet to ensure fairness to all tactics. The Liverpool team is predicted to finish 4th in the test league, so this test will replicate the usage of these tactics with a top 4 Premier League team. All other attributes remain the same as previously explained. As with the previous test team, all PPM's have been removed.

I have added Wrath v5 attacking to the test queue. I will test with the West Ham db and if it scores more than 135 points, I will add it to the next test.

by far the best tactic I have used in my personal saves

I've never used Wrath v5 attacking in my own saves as I usually get good results with the v5 balanced. I have added it to the West Ham queue along with Knap's Crunge.

I'm just about to update the spreadsheet with the first result from the top 4 test. I am testing bottom to top, so the tactics which scored least on the first test, are being tested first or something like that.

Hey Core2FM.

This is not my tactic, nor will I take ANY credit for it.
But I find this tactic so fun to watch, and give me great results, that I want to see it tested in the league.

Tactic is Luke's Strikerless.
More information can be found -> The Strikerless Revolution: Part One | Football Manager 2016

The way this tactic plays, with overlapping fullbacks and with no strikers, seems to confuse the AI and gives way to great goals.
Personally I've now used this tactic with :
- Lewes FC for 2 seasons, with back 2 back promotions.
- FC Midtjylland for 1 season, won the championship plus the cup. (I was unbeaten throughout the regular season)
