Absolutely class mate. What a win against CSKA Moscow and hopefully you can do the same next time round. ^^)

After the excitement of their thumping win in the Russian Cup Final it was a return to league action for FC Moscow. The team currently lie in 3rd place in the league and are chasing their highest ever league placing having finished 4th in 2007.

drew 1-1 v Amkar
It was a close game at Zvezda today as Amkar and FC Moscow played out a 1-1 draw. The match was chess-like and the first half ended goalless. Amkar’s Bosnian striker Edin Junuzovic opened the scoring in the 59th minute as he turned defender Dmitry Belorukov on the edge of the area and let fly with a fierce shot. Dusan Tadic restored parity on 72 minutes when he finished from 6 yards after playing a one-two with Jan Blazek.

won 8-0 v Torpedo Vladimir (6th round of the Russian Cup)
For FC Moscow the Russian Cup means goals! Having put six past CSKA in May’s final today they went two better against first division outfit Torpedo Vladimir. A rare start for Ilaj Kukharchuk saw him grab a hat-trick today, whilst Moscow’s other goals were scored by Dusan Tadic, Alexandr Belozerov, Hector Bracamonte, Oleg Shatov and Jan Blazek.

lost 1-2 v Zenit St. Petersburg
FC Moscow were extremely unlucky to have lost today’s match at home against Zenit St Petersburg. The men from Moscow more than matched their opponents before being undone by a late goal. Moscow fans could have been excused thinking that ‘it was going to be one of those days’ when Zenit’s Senegal international Mame Biram Diouf scored after just 1 minute and 10 seconds. But their team showed character as their heads did not drop and a deserved equaliser came after 16 minutes. From Dusan Tadic’s corner Alexandr Belorukov scored with a bullet header. Despite both teams showing plenty of attacking verve neither could find the back of the net until 83rd minute when Szabolcs Huszti cut in from the left wing and snatched the winner. Zenit had defender Kirill Kombarov sent off for his second bookable offence after 86 minutes but it came too late to be of any real help to Moscow.

drew 0-0 v Rubin Kazan
FC Moscow outplayed Rubin, who were in front of their own fans, tonight but came away with only a point. FC Moscow had 65% of possession and 13 shots to their opponents 8, they also had an incredible three goals disallowed during the match. Moscow manager Dan Lake is to appear before the Russian FA after he made comments questioning the referee’s parentage during his post-match press conference.

won 3-0 v Spartak Moscow
This was a great result for FC Moscow against their city rivals Spartak, as they controlled large spells of the game. Not only did FC Moscow make the most of their chances but they limited their opponents’ chances to speculative long shots.
The pick of Moscow’s goals was scored by midfielder Roman Shirokov, his bending shot from 20 yards out made it 3-0 after 66 minutes. Moscow’s other goals came courtesy of Jan Blazek and Dmitry Belorukov.

Why the wait?
Since arriving at FC Moscow in June last year Dan Lake has won the Russian Cup and managed the team to 4th place in the league at the halfway point, but he still hasn’t signed a new contract. Lake’s existing deal runs out at the end of this season (December 2012) and the fan’s fear that he will leave the club just as they are starting to see an improvement in their team.

won 2-1 v Saturn (7th round of the Russian Cup)
The cup holders progressed here tonight by beating Saturn Ramenskoye 2-1 in a hard fought 7th round tie. FC Moscow drew first blood with Ilaj Kukharchuk scoring from a rebound after 5 minutes. There was little to separate the teams but Moscow increased their lead in the 75 minute as centre-back Dmitry Belorukov volleyed home Dusan Tadic’s freekick. Saturn pulled one back on 86 minutes as Sergey Belousov skipped past two defenders to finish from close range, but it was not enough to keep them in the competition.

won 2-1 v Kuban
FC Moscow kicked off the second half of the season with a win at Kuban, Krasnodar. Kuban actually scored first as Yury Zhenov found Milan Ivana’s 51st minute shot too hot to handle. Kuban fans were still celebrating when FC Moscow substitute Oleg Shatov grabbed the equaliser on 52 minutes. Pavel Komolov scored the winner after 69 minutes as he made a late run into the box and put away Shatov’s through ball.

And FC Moscow will face...
Today saw the draw for the UEFA Europa League’s fourth and final qualifying round, the winning teams from this round will be assured of a place in the EUropa League group stages. FC Moscow manager Dan Lake was present at the draw and would be hoping for a easy tie against one of the lesser known teams. But you can’t always get what you want and FC Moscow were drawn against SS Lazio of Italy, if Lake’s team are to progress to the group stages they are going to need to be on top of their game against the Italians. The first tie will be played in the Olympic Stadium, Rome.

In other news, FC Moscow today signed Kuban’s striker Amadou Ouattara for a fee of €9.75m. 20 year old Ivorian Ouattara has scored 11 goals in just 15 games since signing for Kuban earlier in the year, however, he is ineligible for the league match against Saturn and the Europa League games against Lazio.

drew 1-1 v Saturn
A recent cup tie between these two sides ended in victory for FC Moscow, but Saturn were in no mood to allow a repeat of that result today. Moscow captain Vartan Mazalov gave his team the lead with a powerful effort in the 14th minute. Midfielder Rene Mihelic then equalised for Saturn after 48 minutes with a wonderful curling freekick from the edge of the area.

lost 0-3 v Lazio (Europa League 4th Qualifying Round, 1st Leg)
In truth, the underdogs of FC Moscow never threatened to cause an upset as they succumbed to a 3 - 0 defeat at Olimpico. Moscow managed to hold Lazio to a goalless first half, but the Italians finally took the lead when striker Mauro Zárate lost vhis marker to score a fine goal on 66 minutes. Goran Pandev doubled Lazio's lead with a close range effort on 75 minutes and Cristian Ledesma completed the rout on 85 minutes as Zarate pulled the ball back in the Moscow 18 yard box and he finished with a well placed shot. FC Moscow only managed two shots on target during the whole 90 minutes and the fans will be disappointed that they did not test the Lazio ‘keeper more often.

won 1-0 v Terek
FC Moscow battled to a deserved 1 - 0 victory over Terek Grozny on a fine summer's afternoon in their Russian Premier Division game at imeni S.G. Bilimkhanova. Moscow captain Vartan Mazalov had a chance to score from the penalty spot for Moscow on the 45 minute mark but missed his spot-kick. However, Moscow's Alexandr Belozerov made the Moscow fans forget the miss by scoring a fine header from point-blank range shortly after. Moscow were often prevented from playing as they wanted to due to the number of fouls committed by their enthusiastic opponents.

Rubin want Lake?
Following yesterday’s 3-0 defeat to Krylja Sovetov, Rubin Kazan sacked their manager. According to sources within the club Rubin’s chairman wants to employ FC Moscow manager Dan Lake, furthermore, if he accepts the post he’ll be given 20m to spend in the transfer market. Bookmakers have already installed Lake as the odds-on favourite to be offered the job.

Where’s your manager gone?
FC Moscow manager Dan Lake failed to turn up for today’s post-match press conference following his team’s 1-0 win over Terek. This no show will do nothing to kerb rumours that Lake will quit his post at the club to become manager of Premier League rivals Rubin Kazan in the next few days.

Is the Rubin got a better side or richer than FC Moscow?

If not don't go ;)

Rubin are richer in money and history, but reckon the team needs a serious overhaul could be a couple of seasons before I achieve anything. (I could always do a Redknapp and take Moscow's better players with me!)

The offer on the table includes an €18m war chest and wage budget of 325k which is double what I got from Moscow at the start of the season. :S

Hm, if I was in your position then I'd go for the Rubin job. You may never get a better chance than now to build on your managerial career, and every ambitious manager wants to move onto bigger clubs ;-)

Walkouts, illegal taps and lawsuits...
Ever since Rubin Kazan sacked their manager, Andrey Kobelev, two days ago there has been talk of FC Moscow boss Dan Lake taking over. Many would consider the move a step up for Lake as Rubin Kazan can boast greater support, better resources and a richer history than their rivals from the Capital.
Events today begun with the FC Moscow board accepting Lake’s resignation, and ended with him being named as the new Rubin manager in an official press release from the club.
The move has led to much acrimony, however, as the FC Moscow chairman accused Rubin of “tapping up” his manager and threatened them with legal action. Whilst Lake blamed a lack of support from the FC Moscow fan’s as the main reason that he “never felt at home at the club.”

All change please...
English born manager Dan Lake officially took over as manager of Rubin Kazan today but spent little time acclimatising, instead he was busy re-organising his playing and coaching staff. When Lake agreed to come to the Central Stadium he requested that all members of the existing coaching staff were relieved of their posts. He wasted no time in bringing in an all new backroom team including Dmitry Kos’lov, his assistant manager at Moscow, and former Czech international defender Tomas Ujfalusi as tactic's coach.
Lake was active in the transfer market too, and as the window drew to a close he brought in eight new players spending €42m in the process. From the English Premier League Lake made two loan signings in midfielder Edu Ramos (from Manchester United) & striker Fred Hofstede (from Manchester City). Lake also went back to his old club to sign defenders Dmitry Belorukov and Gia Grigalava, together with 18 year old ‘keeper Vladimir Perfiljev. Lake’s biggest signing was Belarusian playmaker Anton Putsilo who he purchased from Locomotiv Moscow for a fee of €13m (although it is thought that much of that cost has been spread over future payments and special clauses).
To help balances the books somewhat, nine players left Rubin for a combined fee of over €24m. The former Serbian international striker Mirko Pantelic was also released on a free transfer.

About Rubin...
Founded in 1958, Rubin Kazan are a professional Russian club currently playing in the Russian Premier Division. The club play their home games at Central and possess good training facilities and an average youth setup. The club retains a fierce rivalry with Krylja Sovetov Samara.

As a club which enjoyed its best spell of success during the 2000s and their last competition win coming as recently as 2010, Rubin are a club with a growing history. Rubin won the Russian top division for the only time in 2008 and finished runners-up a year later (when they also lost in the Russian Cup Final). The “Rubinovye” also won the Russian Super Cup in 2010 and have appeared in the Champions League group stages twice.

won 2-0 v Spartak Nalchik
An efficient performance by Rubin Kazan's players saw them confidently overcome a lacklustre Spartak Nalchik 2 - 0 at Central. Star signing Anton Putsilo gave a man of the match performance justifying his 13m fee. Putsilo got Rubin off to an absolute flyer by scoring a powerful effort from the edge of the area on 2 minutes. Many have been critical of Rubin’s Argentinian forward Alejandro Dominguez’s performances this season, but today he worked hard and capped a good showing with a goal on 77minutes.

Ones for the future
Rubin Kazan had seven players called up for international duty, including three players to the Russian U21 squad. Valdimir Pelfijev, Artem Galimov and Vladimir Shubin give the Rubin Kazan fan’s reason to be optimistic about their club’s future.

won 2-1 v Baltika
There were debut’s for Rubin’s Spanish midfielder Edu Ramos and young stopper Vladimir Perfiljev in the team’s 2-1 win over Baltika Kaliningrad. Anton Putsilo made it two goals in two games since joining Rubin as he scored after 10 minutes. It was a superb solo effort and Putsilo looked delighted. Fred Hofstede then seized on an error by Hamouda El Bashir to score Rubin’s second. Hofstede is currently on loan from English team Manchester City. Alejandro Dominguez thought he had made it 3-0 but saw his 66th minute strike ruled out for offside. Winger Oleg Vlasov's 83rd minute strike renewed Baltika’s hopes and they pressed for an equaliser without success. After the game Dan Lake got news that Rubin’s Brazilian centre-half Renato would receive a four match ban for serious foul play in an earlier league game.

lost 1-3 v CSKA Moscow
Rubin Kazan will be wondering what might have been this morning after a close encounter with CSKA Moscow turned into a 3 - 1 victory for their opponents. A brace from Vagner Love helped CSKA Moscow to victory. Vladimir Perfiljev was outstanding in the Rubin goal and a string of fine saves kept his side in the game, but they weren’t without their chances at the other end. When Rubin midfielder Dmitry Tarasov leapt onto a loose ball and kept his cool to make the score 2-1 in the 82 minute a draw looked possible, but their hopes were dashed four minutes later as Pavel Mamaev restored CSKA’s two goal cushion.

won 2-0 v Ural
Rubin Kazan overcame a resilient Ural Yekaterinburg side in the Russian Premier Division game at Central this evening. Rubin offered little attacking play in the first half but were defensively sound then, in the 76th minute, Dmitry Tarasov turned the ball into an empty net after Anton Putsilo drew the ‘keeper out and slid the ball across the area. Tarasov scored Rubin’s second goal, and his third in two matches, in added on time with an unstoppable rocket from 25 yards.

Not a bad start at all for the new club, seriously looking forward to when you play your old team though, should be interesting.

Some top notch signings there Dan, that one on loan from City looks quality, good luck with Rubin.

After four games in charge Dan Lake has led Rubin Kazan to three wins and a plucky defeat against Locomotiv Moscow, but with the honeymoon period over can he sustain this run of form?
Lake won’t be helped by the news that left-back Gia Grigalava has pulled his hamstring and will be out for 3-4 weeks.

won 3-2 v Shinnik
Due to injuries and international call-ups Korean striker Lee Chung-Yong got his chance to impress the Rubin management against Shinnik here today. On 12 minutes Alejandro Dominguez played in Anton Putsilo and the midfielder drove in the first goal from an acute angle. Debutant Chung-Yong made it 2-0 to Rubin on the stroke of half time as he beat the keeper from 20 yards out.
Whatever the Shinnik manager said to his players at half-time it had an effect as they first scored through Oleg Kozhanov on 52 minutes, and then equalised thanks to Mersudin Ahmetovic’s run and shot in the 59th minute.
Rubin Kazan were forced to raise their game and restored their lead with a calm finish from Chung-Yong on 76 minutes.

won 2-1 v Locomotiv Moscow
The two sides played out a classic in the rain here at Locomotiv this evening. With just five minutes of the first half remaining Locomotiv’s Diego Tardelli beat the Rubin offside trap and pulled the ball back for Milan Badelj. Free in the area Badelj had an easy job to score the opening goal. But the teams went in at the break level when, on 44 minutes, Alejandro Dominguez collected a long ball over the top and kept his cool to put the ball under the Locomotiv keeper.
Well in to a captivating second half Dominguez broke away after a corner at the other end and got clean through on the Locomotiv goal. The keeper parried Dominguez’s first effort but the striker put away the rebound, a goal that proved to be the winner.

won 3-2 v Amkar Perm
The gloves were off in the run up to this match as Amkar manager started a war of words with his Rubin counterpart. Lake told Rashid Rakhimov that “everyone is entitled to their own opinion no matter how misguided it is, everyone knows that my team are superior to Amkar!”
17 minutes into the game, Fred Hofstede skipped through the Amkar defence and picked out Alejandro Dominguez who finished from close range. And Dominguez was on hand again to make it 2-1 after 36 minutes, this time he latched onto a pass from Edu Ramos and scored after Amkar failed to clear a corner. It was 3-0 on 55 minutes when Hofstede scored from Tarasov’s knock down in the area.
With Rubin controlling the match it came as a real surprise when Amkar’s Nikolay Zhilyaev scored from the edge of the area on 61 minutes, and Dmitry Molosh got a second from a freekick on 69 minutes. But, in truth, the score-line flattered Amkar as their opponents managed 16 shots on goal to their five.

lost 0-1 v Zenit St. Petersburg
A close and feisty game was played out in front of 60,000 fans at the Gazprom Arena, St.Petersburg. In the 41st minute Edu Ramos scrambled the ball into the path of Ivica Olic who accepted the gift gladly and put the ball in the back of the net. Rubin’s Gia Grigalava got his marching orders in the 60th minute for his second bookable offence and then team-mate Anton Putsilo also saw red after minutes. Down to nine men the Rubin team battled bravely and showed great deal of spirit in the face of adversity.

A tale of two cities...
With four games of the League season left Rubin Kazan have a real chance of achieving a Europa League placing. Since taking over as boss Englishman Dan Lake has presided over six wins and two defeats, and most agree that the team are playing an attractive brand of football.
In contrast, since Lake left his previous post at FC Moscow the team have won just one of their eight games.

won 4-1 v Kuban
Rubin Kazan enjoyed near total domination over a distinctly average Kuban Krasnodar side at Central this afternoon. Although striker Hwang gave Kuban the lead in the 12th minute, it would prove to be short-lived. Rubin’s Brazilian centre-back Renato Silva then equalised for Rubin in the 16th minute with a powerful header from Vladimir Shubin’s cross. Local lad Shubin then put the home side in front in the 46th minute with his first ever goal for the senior team. Alan Kasaev made it 3-1 with a cracking effort from 25 yards or more, and substitute Alejandro Dominguez had the final word as Shubin’s accurate pass found him in the area and he calmly put the ball past Ilja Abaev in the Kuban goal.

lost 2-3 v Spartak Moscow
Spartak Moscow battled their way to a 3 - 2 victory in this evenly-matched contest between two hard-working teams. The highlight of the game was undoubtedly a superb hat-trick from Spartak Moscow's forward Welliton. The Brazilian caused Rubin no end of problems and got his team back in the match after twice going behind. He clinched the winner in the 76th minute with a thumping header from a deep freekick.

Mission to Moscow...
won 2-1 v FC Moscow
All eyes were on Rubin Kazan’s manager Dan Lake today as he returned to the club he managed for over a year before taking the job at Central. During his time in the capital, Lake won the Russian Cup but had a fractious relationship with the fans who never really warmed to him. Former Moscow players Dmitry Belorukov, Gia Grigalava and Vladimir Perfiljev would also be returning today, all three followed Lake to Rubin in the summer.
Rubin played the better football and got the win they deserved, their two goals came from Alejandro Dominguez and loanee striker Fred Hofstede. Moscow’s goal was scored by Dusan Tadic, a player that Lake brought to the club in 2011.
After the match Lake said that he had enjoyed the day immensely before adding “I almost went into the wrong dressing room at half-time though!”

Last day drama...
Only the team finishing fifth in the league can be assured of an Europa League place next season and currently Rubin Kazan are in the driving seat. The only team who can deny them a place in next year’s European competition is Saturn who currently lie 6th, one point behind Rubin. This weekend the two teams face each other in the final round of the season, in what will be a “winner takes all” tie.

Rubin Kazan go into today’s crunch match against Saturn with a growing list of absentee’s. The team will be missing Sergey Parshivlyuk (DR), Marcus Vinicus (DC), Dmitry Tarasov (MC), Anton Putsilo (AMC) who are all suspended and Renato Silva (DC) who is injured. Rubin need to avoid defeat today to qualify for next year’s UEFA Europa League.

There were no goals today at Central, as Rubin Kazan and Saturn battled it out for the last Europa League qualifying place. Rubin had several “B” team players in the starting line up today due to suspensions and injuries, but should be no excuse though for the over cautious approach they adopted. Saturn were equally disappointing today and one could easily have mistaken this match for an unimportant mid-table clash.

The draw was enough, however, for Rubin Kazan to secure 5th place and qualify for European competition.

2012 comes to an end...
An eventful year for manager Dan Lake, he started the year in charge of FC Moscow and in May he won the Russian Cup with that team. But by August he was on the move to Premier League rivals Rubin Kazan. Rubin are hoping for a return to the glory days of the mid 2000's and by the end of the seson Lake had assured them of european football for next year.

Dan Lake has been in charge at Rubin for 12 matches, he has won 8 of these, drawn 1 and lost 3. His team have scored 23 goals and conceded 15.

Congratulations on Euro qualification mate, time to prepare for next season.

Thanks guys,

Rubin have a good setup and more potential in the transfer market, although the big names aren't keen on coming to a freezing cold Russia (wonder why?!)

I am going to carry on my game, but still unsure about the story... if anything the move to Rubin is making the decision tougher as I think I could be on the brink of something! :S

(Please let me know if you are following and think I should continue)

Rubin Kazan made just three additions to their squad in pre-season, bringing in two players under the age of 20. Manager Dan Lake’s biggest signing was that of 19 year old Argentine striker Mario Acosta, who he bought from Brazilian club Atletico Mineiro for €14.5m
Lake also brought in 16 year old Andrey Demchenko from Ural (€3.2m) and Locomotiv’s playmaker Nikola Drincic (€4.8m), Lake has made Drincic his club captain. Dutch forward Fred Hofstede also joined Rubin on loan from English side Manchester City, it will be his second spell at the club.

In other news 11 players left Central, amongst them the popular Alejandro Dominguez who refused to sign a new contract at the club.
