Cardiff slipping towards relegation

After only 1 win in 5 Cardiff could end the season in the relegation zone. February started with a 1-1 draw at home against QPR in a match we could have won as we dominated both possession and chances. The next game was a 1-0 win against Sunderland thanks to a first minute goal from Kenwyne Jones. The stats show that Sunderland dominated but that is skewed by the fact that we had a lead to hold onto from the first minute. The last game of February was at the Emirates where we lost 5-2 to Arsenal. Goals from Javi Guerra and Kenwyne Jones were not enough as we were thoroughly beaten here.

March had only 2 games and it started disappointingly with a 1-0 loss at home to West Brom. Gomis’ early strike was enough to secure the points as we couldn’t break down a tight West Brom defence. The final game of March was against West Ham where we drew 2-2. Charlie Austin got back on the scoresheet for the first time in a while but it wasn’t enough as Danny Welbeck scored a late equaliser to cost us 2 vital points. This result leaves us just 4 points above the relegation zone with 8 games to go.

The end of April sees us play both Man City and Chelsea so the first 3 games of April are vital. We first play Swansea and then follow that with Hull and Middlesbrough. All 3 of these teams lie below us in the league so each of these games are going to be vital in the battle for survival. 2 out of 3 wins from these games should see us survive for this season but that might not be enough to save Russell Slade’s job as he has not lived up to the pre-seasons expectation set by the board.

Appearances: 19(7)
Goals: 23
Rating: 7.75

Verdelli's success stems from his creative attacking displays through narrow counter attacks, and his general philosophy seems to get his team roaring.

Well, that could've gone a lot better...
Not 100% sure when my last update was, but I'll cover from January in this one.
The major departure in January was Petr Cech's wages as he was finally moved on :D
He was replaced (temporarily for now) by Nicola Leali from Arsenal.

I'll do this by competition:

Barclays Premier League
At the end of December we were back top, what has happened since has been a disastrous run of form that has seen us drop out of the Champions League places!! Unacceptable, changes WILL be made. Clearly José let his new £150k p/w contract go to his head...
I won't list all the defeats, that would take far too long. Instead I'll leave this little stat - Since January 1st, Chelsea have only obtained 5 (!) points in the Premier League... 5 points in 3 months?! That's worse than relegation form!

(Emirates) FA Cup
Slightly redeeming as we comfortably progress to the semi-finals with victories over Luton, Norwich, Hull and Derby to set up a Semi-Final with West Brom (which is ever so conveniently situated between two games against Barcelona...). We'll probably play a weakened team and get knocked out :(

Champions League
We thrashed Monaco 5-1 on aggregate to set up a meeting with Barcelona - managed by PSG's favourite (In my games anyway...) Unai Emery. Still - at least we can say we got further than City :P

As a result of Chelsea's abysmal league form in 2017, skyBET are offering reduced odds on the following managers moving to Stamford Bridge soon:
Luis Enrique 5/1
Jurgen Klopp 4/1
Carlo Ancelotti 9/2
Roberto di Matteo 2/1
Julen Lopetegui 10/1

Place your bets now!

P.S Sorry for the short update, still pretty **** busy...

Chelsea FC - Manager Announcement

Following an emergency meeting of the Chelsea board, we have decided to remove José Mourinho from his position as manager. He has moved to QPR and we have no doubt he can continue his current form with his new club.

As to the new manager, we knew we needed a big name manager. We also wanted someone who has knowledge of Chelsea, either as a past manager or player.
We narrowed our shortlist to 3:
Roberto di Matteo, he wasn't given a fair shot after winning the champions league.
Carlo Ancelotti, big name and an attractive style of play.
Jurgen Klopp, although not related to Chelsea before he could be a good fit for a club like us.

We quickly decided that di Matteo wasn't ready for the pressure of the last 8 games and, after a long drawn out process decided that the best fit was...

Carlo Ancelotti!
We all welcome back Carlo and we hope he can repeat the successes of his first stint. His first job however is to ensure we get Champions League football from this season, a trophy would be a bonus.

#WelcomeBackCarlo

In fairness mourinho has said if he got fired he would stay in the prem and moving to qpr would mean he wouldn't have to move his family so not completely unrealistic

If it was a c2c-deal, no worries about reputation! And also, there have been a couple of appointments that have been more unrealistic in my opinion. I think Laurent Blanc went from PSG when they were 1st in the league and in the semi-finals in the CL, to manage a mid-table team in our chairman game :P
