Will me and Eds get a say in the appointment of the U21 and U19 coach or will you be making that choice.

Last night wasn't good. A mixture of anxiety, nightmares and ****** vuvuzelas kept me awake. We're in the knockout stages of a World Cup. What if it goes to penalties?! We'll manage. Won't we?

The team is back to its best and I don't see why we can't win this one. I'm looking for a solid performance all-round and particularly in defense. Pavluychenko and Arshavin is a world-class strike force, we need to calm it down.

And Micah Richards has pretty much cemented his place as first choice RB, he's been phenomenal both on the floor and in the air. Especially with GJ just coming back from injury, I can't see much changing in the right-back cordon.

Hargreaves has been immense and has been an integral part of my "spine". That extra man to defend has really stopped the goals leaking through.

Rob Green and the defense as a whole have been very good. Only conceeding two goals in three games, but I suppose their real test will be today.

YES! WHAT A WIN!

Robert Green, you have just put us through into the next round of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Take a bow son, take a bow.

Brilliant performances all-round. We didn't miss a single penalty, something we've struggles with in previous major tournaments.

The defense was insane today. Richards was winning everything in the air, Terry was mowing down anyone near him, Ferdinand was making everything and Cole was up and down the wing like there's no tomorrow.

Hargreaves, Lampard and Gerrard. My three key midfielders who just controlled the game, Hargreaves fed the "ards" brilliantly and allowed them to simply spray it up and wide. Brilliant.

Young and Cole were whipping in crosses all day that floated brilliantly. Fair play to Akinfeev, he did make some brilliant saves.

And then there's Wayne. Wazza Roo. No goals today, but he's the best player int he world at the moment. He'll get so many more before this tournament is over.

And the best thing about it is, in the Quarters, we've got Ireland. We can go all the way.

Lets not underestimate Ireland now lads, they have some class players... But on a bright note when I managed Scotland I beat them 3-0 and 2-1 to qualify for the WC, so we really shudnt have much to worry about =D

World Cup Quarter Final. Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. There's been many great moments in my life. But this is huge, really huge.

The lads are tired, but they know they're the better team today. They've been playing brilliantly and there aren't many games left. I have lots of faith in them.

I see no reason to change the formation or the team. The guys have really been the best team at this tournament, and I see no reason why this team can't win, and win well, today.

Joe Cole's lack of stamina means either Aaron or Milns is goind to need to come on, but we will come to that when we get there.

Stevie G and Wazza Razza have both been in magnificent form, Wayne leading from the front and Stevie setting a captain's example. Long may it last.

WOAHHHHHH!!! WORLD CUP SEMI FINALS HERE WE COME!

WOOOOOOO!

Ashers and Wayne put us on our way after we couldn't quite finish it, two goals after being 0-0 at 80 minutes is no mean feat.

We really did dominate this game; and I really do think I've found the solution to the Lampard/Gerrard problem. They're playing brilliantly together.

Joe Cole gets the Man of the Match award today. He was often closed down, but he skipped away from his men as if they weren't even there. He whipped balls into the middle constantly, and got himself two assists.

Shay Given had a good performance, considering the amount we tested him. I'd like to see us test whoever is in goal for the Italians next game. Yes, we've got the Italians.

We're going to need all we've got to beat them.

Woo, and the Italias are beatable, especially if there squad is as old as IRL, if it is perhaps using our pacy players may be a good idea, just a thought.

Their defense isn't actually all that slow. They've got Grosso, Chillieni, Santon and Felipe as their back four. None of them are really slow as such. I'll give you their midfield are slow though.
