Ames announces 23-man England Squad

After a long, hard year for Ed Ames and his England side, it's all boiled down to this. These are the 23 young gentlemen he'll be taking on the plane to South Africa with him.

Ben Foster (Manchester United)
Robert Green (West Ham United)
Joe Hart (Manchster City)

Wayne Bridge (Manchester City)
Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur)
Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United)
John Terry (Chelsea) (vc)
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Micah Richards (Manchester City)
Glen Johnson (Liverpool)

Owen Hargreaves (Manchester United)
Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) (c)
James Milner (Aston Villa)
Ashley Young (Aston Villa)
Joe Cole (Chelsea)
Gareth Barry (Manchester City)
Michael Carrick (Manchester United)
Aaron Lennon (Tottenham Hotspur)

Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
Peter Crouch (Tottenham Hotspur)
Gabriel Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
Jermain Defoe (Tottenham Hotspur)

We, here at 4-4-2, think this squad is perfectly capable of going far. It's got everything it needs, quality and quantity. Ed Ames had this to say:

"The World Cup. Wow.

I think everyone involved with England Football is hopeful of a good performance. The players deserve it, the board deserve it, the fans deserve it and every Englishman willing their country on deserves it.

There are no real suprise exclusions from the squad. It's fairly well known I like this group of players, and I think that a first XI could probably be drawn up from this fairly easily.

I'm delighted with the squad we've got and it's capable of going places. Thanks, and see you later. I've got a plane to catch."

2 and half cb is dodgy and even if you play richard cb still very risky mate

Great squad mate!

I won't be doing another interview untill tomorrow.

He's got 3 centre backs and Richards doee? Good squad, minor suggestion of using Agbonlahor as an impact sub along with Walcott both did wonders for me in my England save (H) good luck, hope you keep your job!

Yeah, that's exactly why I've brought Gabby along. Him and Aaron Lennon on the bench = pace.

king is half a cb because he will more than likely get injured ;) na you should be fine just scaring ya

Woooah didnt realise the Pace + Accel Gabby had 20 in both, thats in your's aswell right?
Anyway, have you even started the World Cup, im itching to see some results after like the hour we spent discussing the squad :P

I can confirm I have started the World Cup. The diary entry for the day of the match against Bosnia and Herz. will be up in around 25 minutes, at the latest.

I've decided I will be appointing a Youth Coach after the WC, in which they will start a sperate game, full of youngsters, not playing any of the senior squd, and they will feedback on who the good young players are.

When can i apply :D and would it be posted on this thread as its easier for Eds to see feedback
