My board recommend I offer him a new contract and I agreed, offered I think it was similar to £90K a week and he refused :S

booo, now hes a greedy mexican too!! any other clubs sniffing around so you can ignite a bidding war?

if not probs just play him anyway, once the window is closed and hes playing in a (hopefully) winning team he should settle again, then he might accept a new contract

Nobody interested anymore, new just come through that Luis Garcia's walking out of the club at the end of the season for free if he's not in my first team plans this season. XD you've cursed it mate ;)

maybe i did lol, im ready to welcome him with open arms at leonesa (A)

i find they dont often come through with those kind of threats though. could just be media bullshit too, did it say something like 'bbc sport understands that luis garcia will leave the club at the end of the campaign unless espanyol guarantee him first team action''

after seeing something like that ill go to the players info page and check his happiness, most of the time his general happiness is fine with no slight or major concerns....

Just read through this page of the story, you did fantastic to win the double mate, and you're doing well now, keep it up.

SEPTEMBER

Monday, 3rd.

0:00: Luis Garcia announces intention to leave Espanyol – I have a struggle to keep Luis Garcia happy as he faces stiff competition, with Soldado, Vela and Obinna all getting priority in the starting line-up. His contract runs out at the end of the season and is considering walking out on the club on a free under the Bosman ruling system.

Liga BBVA match 1: Real Zaragoza 0 : 1 ESPANYOLC. Vela (90+3)
With 17 shots altogether and only 3 on target, though from both forwards, it’s obvious that my strike partnership in Vela and Soldado hasn’t quite come together as of yet. Hopefully improvements will be made over the coming weeks. Carlos Vela scored the only goal from the 6-yard line.

Disappointed with the performance, happy with the result.

• Average Rating: 7.03
• Man of the Match: Carlos Vela, 7.5
• Number of goals scored: 1
Current league standing: 4th

Tuesday, 4th.

9:00: FC Bayern make Luis Garcia bid. Espanyol offered the unhappy striker for £3.9M, with FC Bayern the only club to bid. The offer was accepted, and has received a contract offer.

Luis Garcia is reportedly unhappy as Espanyol manager Wayne Thomas ‘doesn’t appreciate his contribution to the team’, and was made even angrier following Assistant Manager Manolo Ruiz’s negative comments in the post-match Press Conference.

Thursday, 6th.

22:30: Luis Garcia demands money to move. The distressed striker has asked for Espanyol to pay £4,500 per week until July 2013 to take a pay-cut at FC Bayern. Garcia’s demand was accepted.

22:45: Garcia set to sign for FC Bayern. Espanyol had accepted the deal, and Luis Garcia will join the German team on Tuesday, January 1st 2013.
Garcia is said to be ‘overjoyed’ at the opportunity to get regular first-team football after Wayne Thomas told him he has to settle for 4th-choice attacker.

Tuesday, 11th.

19:00: European Champions Cup title odds from Sky Bet – Espanyol given odds of 14-1, whilst the best possible odds are for Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus, all at 5-1.

Saturday, 15th.

Liga BBVA match 2: ESPANYOL 4 : 0 NumanciaR. Soldado (38, 46), A. Guardado (74), J. Verdu (90+1)
Roberto Soldado and Andres Guardado netted their first Liga BBVA goals for their new club, and Joan Verdu continues his spectacular goalscoring record for the club. Making sure Numancia were kept quiet, both centre backs and keeper deserve a pat on the back for their performances. The pick of the goals being Soldado’s first, a first-time volley from a tight angle.

Very pleased with both performance and scoreline, hopefully this can continue in the future.

• Average Rating: 7.43
• Man of the Match: Roberto Soldado, 8.8
• Number of goals scored: 5
Current league standing: 2nd

Tuesday, 18th.

Champions Cup match 1: Bursaspor 0 : 4 ESPANYOL - D. Beckham (pen 48), David (51), L. Garcia (75), B. Sahar (88)
The boys took their time getting into the match, scoring all four goals in the second half. Confident performance, and it was nice seeing Luis Garcia scoring a goal. Young starlet David got in on the scoring after Beckham opened with a penalty. Ben Sahar completed the rout late on.

Poor first half, good second. Confident performance as we banged in four goals. Happy with David and Luis Garcia.

• Average Rating: 7.47
• Man of the Match: David, 8.3
• Number of goals scored: 9

Thursday, 20th.

10:15: Vela requests transfer. Carlos Vela has surprisingly asked to be placed on the transfer list as he sees his footballing future away from Espanyol. The request was declined.

Sunday, 23rd.

Liga BBVA match 3: Murcia 1 : 4 ESPANYOLC. Vela (18, 66), R. Soldado (pen 40, 90+2)
Another match, another four goals. A fantastic display of true football, despite conceding first. With two goals each for Carlos Vela and Roberto Soldado, I think it’s fair to say they’re coming together quickly. Hopefully this scoring run will continue.

A great performance followed by a tremendous result. Happy with the amounts of goals being scored at the moment.

• Average Rating: 7.56
• Man of the Match: Carlos Vela, 8.9
• Number of goals scored: 13
Current league standing: 2nd

Wednesday, 26th.

Liga BBVA match 4: ESPANYOL 1 : 1 Athletico MadridS. Keita (86)
Not too downhearted with the result, although I expected a victory. A late strike – and a fabulous one at that – from Seydou Keita saved us from defeat, and it was the equaliser to At. Madrid’s early goal.

Good solid performance, and a very exciting game to watch.

• Average Rating: 6.85
• Man of the Match: Seydou Keita, 7.9
• Number of gaols scored: 14
Current league standing: 4th

Sunday, 30th.

Liga BBVA match 5: Hercules 0 : 2 ESPANYOL
Hercules was up for this as much as we were, and they gave us a tough fight, especially in the first half. A header from Andres Guardado and a close-range finish from Soldado proved to be enough for us.

Despite the lack of goals expected, pleased with the result and performance.

• Average Rating: 7.11
• Man of the Match: Roberto Soldado, 7.9
• Number of goals scored: 16
Current league standing: 2nd

Pleasing points of the month

• Settling on a deal to sell Luis Garcia.
• Scoring 16 goals in 6 games (all competitions) and 12 in 5 in the league.
• Current standing of 2nd in the league.
• Roberto Soldado, Fernando Gago and Andres Guardado starting well.
• Unbeaten so far in all comps.

Disappointing points of the month

• Luis Garcia announcing intention of walking out of the club.
• Carlos Vela requesting to be placed on the transfer list.
• The amount of goals conceded first.

nice new layout mate, a great story so far, i love it, its one of my favourites

Cheers guys, yup, Vela's increasingly getting on my **** now! I need him to stay, he's my best player, along with Soldado.

Wednesday, 3rd.

Champions Cup match 2: ESPANYOL 0 : 3 Olympique Lyonnaise
Nothing much to say here, other than (and in the words of Alan Pardew): I got raped! Not one player had a good night, and for that it cost me dearly. NOTE I did rest more than half of my first teamers as I have Real Madrid AWAY this coming weekend.

Disappointing all-round.

• Average Rating: 6.39
• Man of the Match: Miralem Pjanic, 8.9
• Number of goals scored: 16

Saturday, 6th.

Liga BBVA match 6: Real Madrid 1 : 1 ESPANYOLValdo (pen 90)
In this 1st vs. 2nd league match, it was important to come out fighting an on top. Unfortunately, Madrid were on top all of the match, until Metzelder gave away a penalty in the 89th minute. Valdo tucked it away nicely, and gave us the draw, much more than what we deserved.

Very good performance against an even better Madrid. Pleased.

• Average Rating: 6.73
• Man of the Match: Xabi Alonso, 7.7
• Number of goals scored: 17
Current league standing: 2nd

Sunday, 7th.

13:00: Espanyol announce new kit plans. Espanyol have revealed their plans to bring out a new kit, starting January 1st 2013.

The club will release teaser pictures every month, showing more of the kit each time.

Sunday, 21st.

Liga BBVA match 7: ESPANYOL 6 : 0 GetafeC. Vela (12), R. Soldado (22, 24), A. Guardado (45+1, 53), V. Obinna (81)
A must-win match to stay in the top-half of the table and challenge Real Madrid early for the top spot. Fielding my strongest possible team, Getafe had a few injuries in the positions where my best were attacking, which was a delightful help. Vela started the scoring on 12 minutes, then Soldado scored two in quick succession 10 minutes later. Guardado scored right before half time, and added a second 10 minutes after the break, and Obinna rounded off the rout late on. A result I was totally unaware of would happen - I expected a low-scoring draw.

Delighted with both performance and result. Hopefully this will continue throughout the campaign.

• Average Rating: 7.67
• Man of the Match: Andres Guardado, 8.9
• Number of goals scored: 23
Current league standing: 2nd

Today’s match is the first of four within 10 days. We’re in for a bumpy ride as we have Juventus away on Wednesday.

Wednesday, 24th.

Champions Cup match 3: Juventus 2 : 1 ESPANYOLR. Soldado (89)
A match in which the odds were heavily stacked against me, it was important to contain the Juventus attackers. When Alan Hutton got himself sent off in the 18th minute for Juventus, I fancied my chances to run the home team into the ground there, but it wasn’t to be. Juventus too strong for us. Soldado got the consolation towards the end.

Decent performance, not too downhearted by results.

• Average Rating: 6.96
• Man of the Match: Amauri, 7.4
• Number of goals scored: 24

Monday, 29th.

Liga BBVA match 8: Villarreal 1 : 1 ESPANYOLV. Obinna (73)
Another disappointing result. A draw is not what I needed, but was probably imminent after playing two games in the past week. Villarreal are always good at home, so scoring first was important, and Obinna did just that. We conceded a penalty only 4 minutes later to give them the chance to equalise.

Disappointing result and performance.

• Average Rating: 6.95
• Man of the Match: Henrique, 7.5
• Number of goals scored: 25
Current league standing: 4th

Wednesday, 31st.

Spanish Cup 4th Round Leg 1: Melilla 0 : 4 ESPANYOL Valdo (2), R. Soldado (44), M. Moyano O.G. (66), S. Keita (84)
A good all-round performance by us in what was a match we were expected to win. Luckily for us, we have enough reserve players to fill the void of the first teamers. Valdo, Soldado and Keita all scored great goals, and the other coming from a Melilla player, a Moyano own goal.

Good result in the first leg.

• Average Rating: 7.35
• Man of the Match: Valdo, 8.4
• Number of goals scored: 29

Pleasing points of the month

• Plans for new kit.
• 1-1 draw away to a solid Real Madrid.
• 6-0 demolishing of Getafe.

Disappointing points of the month

• Getting thrashed by Lyon.
• Away draw with Villarreal.
