Lol Liverpool/City should be 'walking' the Europa League? Underestimating the other teams that are in it,tbh.

The way the two english teams saw it was they didn't really want to win a competition that offers so little prize money compared to Champions League, in Citys case (they are challenging to qualify for it) and in Liverpools case, they need to focus on the league to rectify a **** start to the season.

Also, the teams in the Europa aren't as bad as some people make them out to be. Most qualified for Champions League but failed at the first hurdle, such as Braga, and Dynamo Kiev rape their league every year, don't think anyone else has won the Ukraine league apart from them. So they aren't bad teams, and for the English teams, its a matter of focusing on the league rather than winning a European competition that they feel doesnt mean much to them.

City would rather have champions league football next season and dont need the extra fixtures that the europa would bring to them, and Liverpool need to focus on their run in and end up in a decent position to qualify for the same competition next year/sort their season out.

What a great post. But i think Mancini wanted to win. But maybe the players were a bit tired after all those euuropa and FA cup games. Now they dont have that much fixtures anymore so Mancini cannot say that the player are tired this season again.

This is not a big loss to fall from a competition that offer so little prize money and this competition have even more fixtures than the CL.

I loled at this. Do you happen to know a little team called Shakhtar Donetsk? oO)

About the rest of your post - I agree with Madridista, Mancini wanted to win this. He needs silverware to justify his position and this competition was winnable.

Silverware is overrated. Would players join Man City because they were UEFA Cup winners or would players rather join them because they qualified for the Champions League?

Whether the incentives are right Liverpool and Man City are both teams that should be looking to reach the semi-final or final in this competition.

A European cup is a European cup, you still have to beat good times to win it.

It's silly some English teams don't consider it a priority

Liverpool are Currently the 5th best ranked side in Europe..! This would indicate they should be beating a side like braga and winning the 2nd rate europa league. no?

A trophy is a trophy. ask the city fan who havent won anything for 35 years, what a trophy would mean to them, also Mancini wanted to win this,

Liverpool win this, they get into Europe next season. so this is anohter route they could of gone with, and what better way to make up for that start, with finishing lifting a trophy.

A trophy is a step in the right direction, Winning is a habbit, in all competitions.

Yeah I just saw it. Villarreal is going to be a tough one. Then again, I'm proud that both Dutch teams got so far with the limited money they have.

that was what 8 years ago now, and the point is teams like Liverpool and Manchester City should be wining thes with ease, yet never seem to perform.

So United should be winning the Champions League with ease? We had Agger, Kelly, Gerrard and Suarez out for this game, Agger. Gerrard and Suarez being some of our most important players and Kelly is our best right-back and is a ****** good player.

If you think Liverpool (in a rebuilding stage, with important injuries) should be winning teams in the Europa with ease there is something wrong with you. Benfica, Porto, Villareal and PSV are all Champions League standard sides, and Spartak Moscow smashed Ajax 3-0 last night, 4-0 on aggregate. Yes,we underperformed slightly, no we should not be winning with ease.

That being said the performance was poor, I lost count of diagonal balls played to Carroll although with Suarez, Gerrard and Agger in the side we will have so much more movement and passing rather than long balls. Also, why the **** is Pacheco never given a chance? Top scorer and best player in the U-19 World Cup, outshining the likes of Canales. oO)

Can you all GO TO **** YOURSELVES? This is about ******* LE , stop comparing Liverpool to the teams there ffs!

No, I've never heard of them. :@

He doesn't need silverware like that when there's champions league football at stake which I bet you is what's promised to all his superstar overpriced players.

What? Is that aimed at me? If so feel free to VM/PM me. :)

i am talking to everyone. dont try to get me going like you want... you're jsut mad cause liverpool is out. they got beaten by a better side in that game. so shut up and talk about Europa League.

What are you on about? Of course I am dissapointed about going out, quote me where I said we were better than Braga, and quote me where I am not talking about the Europa League? Idiot.

TBH with the squad city have got and the money they have spent they could have won Europa and also finished top4. But that is for another day.

I'm eagerly waiting for Porto Vs Benfica finals with Porto winning it.

Andre Villa Boas FTW..

And Rangers are out! :D
Historical night for Portuguese football! 3 teams in the QF! This is excellent for the coefficient. Liverpool are **** at the moment, sorry :( I watched most of the match, and tough Liverpoll was slightly superior, they are not what they used to be. tough im sure they'll rise again ;)

Thanks to Benfica, Porto & Braga eh ;) Funny how you say Liverpool are **** however when sporting lose you say they are by far more better than the team that put them out and come up with excuses why they didn't win. Why don't you do the same for Liverpool ? Oh yes I forgot because your a sore loser :D Amen.

Silverware is overrated. Would players join Man City because they were UEFA Cup winners or would players rather join them because they qualified for the Champions League?

Ask Tevez why players join City ;) Think we all know the main reason why they join City and it has sweet FA to do with Europe.

edit: Nothing against Benfica, I want PSV to win and go onto win it then we can say we lost to the winners, Don't think they are good enough to win it tbh and wouldn't mind seeing Braga or Benfica win it. Good draw for the portguese teams avoiding each other.

Interesting draw

Benfica - PSV -> honestly I think Benfica will go through
Porto - Spartak Moscow - will be a nice match to watch I think
Villareal - Twente - Villareal goes through
Braga - Dynamo Kyiv -> IMO Dynamo Kyiv goes through
