S.L. BENFICA APPOINT CARLO ANCELOTTI AS JORGE JESUS SUCCESSOR UNDER NEW CHAIRMAN

Sky Sources understand that the appointment of the newly announced Benfica manager has been in place as early as yesterday night.

In a shock move from Real Madrid to Benfica, this is the first time Carlo Ancelotti has managed in the Portuguese league.

Benfica chairman, Joshua O'Driscoll gave us a short statement about new Benfica manager, Carlo Ancelotti:

"I and the board have thought long and hard on the manager role, as it is not an easy decision to make. However, once we knew that Carlo Ancelotti was interested in joining us, we jumped on board and instantly started contract negotiations.

"Carlo Ancelotti is well known within the game, and his great success of 3 Champions league trophies with 3 different clubs will, I believe, make us a competitive club in the Champions league in the future.

"Last of all, to the fans, I know you are all eager for the club to show the money to our transfer targets, but rest assured, we will get who we want before the transfer window shuts."

Carlo Ancelotti is set to be unveiled in the coming days.

Vote below where you think S.L. Benfica will finish in the Champions league under 3-time Champions league winning manager Carlo Ancelotti.
