last 3 films I seen (rented 3 for £10) were Scar, The Strangers and Amusement all horror gore films, and all decent budget films as well, no b-movie low budget style.
The Strangers - Not long come off the cinema and on to DVD, if have already seen this at the pictures, then I'm Truly sorry you had to sit through it, and if you walked out in the middle of the film that will have been the best choice of your life.
It starts off okay, with the suspense building by creepy knocking on the door at 4am, and seeing masked figures in th shadowss.
With Suspense to make it worth while something needs to happen, otherwise if nothing worthwhile is going to happen thats the point in the suspense. That sums up the feeling of the film.
That along with just about every bad horror film cliche shoved into one film.
Let me give just a few examples...........
Girl see's strange men outside house with masks on who have been knocking at her door, she does not call 911,she calls her boyfriend.
the boyyfriend arrives, and leaves his phone in the car ??
They find A gun, so the boyfriend leaves the girl on her own inthe house takes the gun to a shed to try to call for help ??????
what ????
See its hard to care about the film when they do not show a little bit of survival instint or will to live.
For a horror film to be scar I think the Charectors need to have realist reactions to sitiations put before them.
I may have spoiled some of the film for people who have not seen it, but trust me there is nothing to spoil.
Scar - We were wathing the 2D version on DVD, I should of known t film was not going to be good, as it was a rushed script with a 3D gimmick thrown in to sell the film.
So the 2D version is just a rushed film with no gimmick to soften the blow.
the films plot is about a killer who played games with people then killed them, many years passed in the town then there was a copy cat killer in the town cough cough (basically just my ****** valentine but not as good)
Th plot just asumes you will no things bout the charecters and other things about the killer, forcing you to make up bits of the plot the writers left gaping holes in.
In a nutshell the film makes little sense.
Amusement - The better of the 3 films we seen, but sill a poor poor film. The front cover had a freaky picture of a clown on it, so it looked promising. Turns out the clown is a small part of the film (about 10 minutes) the rest is about some bloke trying to track down this bunch of beautiful girls who bullied him when he was kid. Lots of things in the film dont really add up. Why the film got a decent budget I dont no, as the script is just a rip off of older good horror films. Avoid this film like your mum when shes drunk.
So those 3 films for now have destroyed my faith in horror films, can anyone recommend a decent horror film out there. One with some sort of charector development and orignalitly.
