FA Cup 4th Round Replay

FM Base Pre Match Build Up

Guaranteed Starters & Likely Formation

View attachment 929846

Injured:
Del Conte, Donaghy, Litmanen

With our cup game being an away trip, we go for a more defensive formation. As above, only 3 spots are guaranteed the day before the match. CJ Lippo on recent form is simply undroppable, and we'll be looking for him to lead the attack from the left. The centre backs are also dead certs.

Up front is an issue, with Williams off the boil in recent matches. Both Deadpool and Roberts impressed off the bench last time, so it is likely to be between them for the one spot.

Del Conte's torn hamstring rules him out, so a CM spot is available. Mendez will be looking for a more impressive performance, whilst Patrik and Cameron are both pushing for starts.

As always, the keeper spot is unclear, with both players in serious contention.

You should try playing Pedersen, Natarr played the last time and we conceded 3 times. Not saying it was on him, but let's see if Pedersen can do better :)

32 shots, 7 on target. Seems Andy Carroll was in action!

Or the Burrito-Bullardinho partnership had 12 blocks each!

Penalty Shoot Out

FM Base to go first

Here we go then, penalties to resolve the last remaining cup tie. FM Base to take first, and it'll be Darren Trott to lead. The regular penalty taker, he steps up and... scores! Bottom left, keeper went the wrong way entirely. 1-0

Mark Noble up for the Hammers, and... scores! Down the centre, you can't help but feel Pedersen should have got to that. 1-1

Everyone's favourite Viking, Hellgrimsson, next and... scores! High into the roof of the net, I've no idea how that stayed in. 2-1

Aaron Cresswell, left footed... and we're level! Down the centre again, keeper had gone to his left. 2-2

Bold move here, Bullardinho the centre back next... proved me wrong! Stupendous penalty, I'm surprised he can even kick a ball after the shift he put in! 3-2

Almalfitano
... top left, another great penalty. Will that make up for his terrible performance tonight? 3-3

Cannon on penalty number 4 for FM Base... buries it! 7 penalties in and it has been a real masterclass. 4-3

And all square again. Nolan keeps this tie going with another good finish. 4-4

Time for a striker, Roberts to run up... high into the net. Keeper needed the arms of Mr Tickle to reach that. 5-4.

Pressure on for West Ham... or not. Gros finishes with aplomb. 5-5.

So, sudden death. No pressure then guys, only the 5th round at stake...

Ibrahimovic to take the sixth one then... send the keeper the wrong way. Advantage FM Base. 6-5

Valencia steps up... scores! Keeper gets a hand to it, but he's not saving that. 6-6

CJ Lippo next... poor penalty but in! Keeper should have done much better with that, it went straight through him! 7-6

Jenkinson... carbon copy of Valencia's pen, Adrian's blushes are spared. 7-7

Cap'n Scott next...bottom right, keeper nowhere near it. 8-7

Song
levels, the last 3 have all gone bottom right. Bit predictable? 8-8

And another for the bottom right, Burrito this time! Surely someone will change it up?! 9-8

Finally! Tomkins smashes it high into the roof of the net, nothing stopping that. 9-9

Pedersen up then... straight past his opposite number. Not sure the keeper saw that! 10-9

A howler! Distin's weak penalty trickles under Pedersen. As you were folks, this could be a long one. 10-10

George Lippo... top corner. All the pressure on Adrian now... 11-10

Off the keeper and in! Not the best penalty in the world, but Adrian won't care! 11-11

22 penalties, not one missed. England should hire these lads as specialist coaches.

Trott again... top left, no mistake. 12-11

Noble.. off the bar and in! Will this ever end? Will I ever see home again?! 12-12

Hellgrimsson
is back... top right and in! Solid penalty from the Viking. 13-12

Cresswell
.. down the centre again, a real case of deja vu. 13-13

Bullardinho
looks exhausted... still buries that one though. 14-13

And level... again. Almalfitano into the roof of the net. 14-14

Cannon.. coolly placed into the left hand side. 15-14

Nolan
steps up... and SAVED! There has been a save! Nolan sinks to the floor, the FM Base players charge towards Pedersen. Nolan tried to go centre, but Pedersen was having none of it. 15-14

So there you have it. 15-14, and FM Base have a home game against Leeds. A stupendous session of penalty taking.

The drama!!!!! Pedersen finally the hero! At least noone can blame us for being nervous at our young age!

My heart was in my mouth hoping poor Lippo didn't cost the side the "W" by missing his penalty!

Wow...what a shoot out!!

Brilliant composure from all of us in front of goal! Was worried Cannon was going to miss when reading through that, but managed to score 2. Great stuff!

I'll fill in with the rest of the match tomorrow, but over the 120 minutes, there were 6 highlights. In other news, the club bus has just been given a new 3 year contract.

Pedersen have just posted a message on Facebook:
First of I would like to thank our worldclass centraldefensive partnership, Burrito and Bullardinho. They must've blocked an insane amount of shots. Now to the rest of the team, you fought for everything you held dear, and to that I'm thankful. Together we managed to beat West Ham. I would like to thank Natarr for being a great sportsman, and for helping me prepare mentally for such an important game. Last but not the least, thank you to our amazing fans. This wouldn't be possible if it wasn't for your incredible support, you carried us all the way.
When it comes to my own performance, I'm very pleased to have helped our side to advance in the tournament. Having said that I must admit that I'm a bit disappointed that I didn't save more than 1 penalty, but luckily that was enough. Did you see my goal, I've been putting a lot of work into my penalty taking, hopefully the manager will let me take the next one ;)
Have a nice day,
Hans Christian Pedersen

Everyone's favourite Viking, Hellgrimsson, next and... scores! High into the roof of the net, I've no idea how that stayed in. 2-1
(...)
Hellgrimsson is back... top right and in! Solid penalty from the Viking. 13-12

And the keeper didn't see it coming the second time! Never change a winning formula... (H)

The Wall that is the Centre-back partnership stood tall against the onslaught! Good ratings for us both, and we must have thrown our bodies on the line throughout the whole game, as we were both completely exhausted :P
