LIPPO'S LOSERS STAND FIRM TO DENY CARLISLE CITY

View attachment 231622

Lippo's Losers (Pink QPR) put in an excellent defensive showing to take a point from an entertaining encounter against Carlisle City (Blue QPR)

Carlisle City had the first big chance of the game in the 15th minute, when the ball eventually broke to Arda Turan from a Jordi Alba cross, but his effort from just over 6 yards out was superbly saved by Joe Hart. The resulting corner ultimately fell to Hernanes on the edge of the box, who dinked a pass inside and found Cerci, who volleyed towards goal only to again be thwarted by Hart. The ball was parried out to Alba, but his effort was tame, and the Lippo's Losers keeper held comfortably.

Carlisle City came forward again after half an hour with Cerci, who cut inside from the right and curled a shot which hit the post and bounced back into the path of Higuain, whose effort was somehow saved again by Hart. Carlisle City had another chance just moments later when Hernanes found Toure on the edge of the box, allowing Toure to fire a driven shot which Hart tipped wide of the post. The resulting corner was played short to Turan, who teed up Hernanes just inside the area, his effort was palmed out by Hart into one of his defenders, and Siqueira was on hand to clear off the line.

Lippo's Losers had a golden chance of their own in the very same passage of play, when Mario Gomez was set up 6 yards out with a cross, but his first time effort was superbly saved by Enyeama. Carlisle City eventually made the breakthrough in the 39th minute when Hernanes drilled a shot from the edge of the area which hit Siqueira on the way through, deflecting past the dive of the despairing Joe Hart to make it 1-0.

Lippo's Losers were not going to go down easily though, as David Silva's early cross just after half time found Gareth Bale, whose initial effort was saved by Enyeama, only for the rebound to fall right to him, allowing an easy finish to level the scoring.

Carlisle City thought they had regained the lead with 20 minutes to go when Cerci was played in by Lars Bender and his effort struck Thiago Silva and past Hart, but they were left disheartened when the linesman had his flag up for offside.

Carlisle City eventually managed to fashion a great chance in the 75th minute, finally beating the defense of Lippo's Losers when Turan played a through ball to Berbatov, but the Bulgarian could only blaze his shot over the bar.

Carlisle City had the better of the game but were restricted mainly to long range efforts, as they found it especially hard to break down the wall that was the back line of Lippo's Losers.

Thanks to Lippo for the game, i'm glad it went a little better for me than our Ashes game, although i'm again a little gutted i didn't win, either way, i'm eagerly anticipating the Matt v Jamie result!

Once again, Craig has gotten a little unlucky but if there is one thing I can do, its organise a defence. :P

Unlucky Craig your next match is definitely a must win game. Almost through Lippo, as long as you don't lose your final game.

The group of death is certainly living up to its name. There is just no easy games. Whoever gets out will be suitably prepared for the nervous knockouts!

Underdog Match of the Round, Stuntcock FC vs Living On FM FC on at 1pm British time.

Living On FM FC Qualify for Quarter Finals

(Sorry if the image is a bit large)

Living On FM FC (Red + Yellow) gained a hard earned victory over Stuntcock FM (Pink LOFMFC) in typical FM fashion, with Stuntcock dominating, yet Living On FM being more clinical and at the same time, extremely lucky.

Luis Suarez got the only actual "goal" of the game, but Stuntcock got the first goal of the game, and after that, Living On FM got 2, yes, 2 OWN GOALS and the Suarez goal to make it 3-1 FT.

LOFMFC MotM - Juan Cuadrado
STCKFC MotM - Steven Gerrard

Jamie, clear your inbox! :D

Also, if you're available before 10pm GMT PM me on Steam and I can play you :)

Can't wait for these games, Yiliang and I will probably play sometime later this week, Group A is so close, especially if Matt wins.

So I imagine Brendn & Taskers are playing as we speak........Oooooh the anticipation!

Well done to Lewie and congrats on making the quarters. Iwas saying to Lippo after the game mate that you've improved a lot since the Ashes. Keep that up and you might make some serious noise in the latter stages!

We played out a very entertaining draw. Brendn's side had most of the possession, his wide play keeping hold of the ball with over 400 completed passes but Taskers forward line cut Open the Mendez defense more times than he'd care to admit. It took a truly world class display from Buffon to keep the result within reach.

Ibrahimovic scored just before half time to send Taskers team into he break with a 1-0 lead.

Brendn subbed Busquets at half time and brought on Kevin Gamerio to move into a more
attacking shape. This payed off as the striker leveled the game in the 55th minute.

Taskers could have been forgiven for feeling the game was won when Ibrahimovic excellently put the ball wide of Buffon to nestle the ball in the bottom left corner. 2-1 with only 2 minutes of regular time remaining.

In what can only be describe as a dramatic finish to the game, Brendn's side won a corner in the dying minutes of the game, and Bastian Schweinstiger headed in the equalizer in the 2nd and final minute of injury time.

2-2 the game finished, both sides sharing the points.

A great game. Taskers side were the better team and I'll be the first to admit we stole a point.
Buffon proving the difference as he kept out so many. Without him, the game could easily have finished 3-2
or even 4-2.

GG. Thanks a million to Taskers for the game.
Best of luck in your remaining fixture :)

Wow! Very late drama in that match. I was seconds away from actually getting a tip right! :P
