Right now the pain is real!!!! :P

Both my games so far have been absolutely fantastic to be apart of and even though I am glad to see the back of Buffon, Cech also made some very keys saves which should not go unmentioned. Your half-time subs definitely made an impact and shows that no one should become complacent against you.

I was actually surprised at how much my defence was able to keep Messi quiet throughout the game considering my practice match with Disclaimer (the scoreline will remain a secret).

Thanks Brendn for the game and good luck in your last fixture and hopefully we can play each other in the knockout stages at some point to settle the draw. I think we will both eagerly anticipate Stonecold and Born's game as neither of us are through yet.

Let the record books show that Lewie did correctly predict the scoreline (he really wanted you all to know that :P)

Hmmm the temptation....nah, we shall keep it to ourselves! haha

Seems like it what happened mate you were the favorite to win the group? ;)

Nah no excuses - the better player won on the day. I always maintain you've got to learn from your mistakes and in both my games I paid for being too cautious at times - need to play a bit more adventurous I think against Yiliang.

Also the two games have highlighted, to me, positions in my preferred shape that I need to make a point of emphasis when drafting my squad if I make the cut for the next iteration that I neglected this time round.

Fair enough mate yea, you better hope yiliang and I draw though :)

Best motto to have!!

Yep he is back 1 PM GMT next Wednesday; I'm still waiting on Yiliang for when we can play our match :) what about the rest of you guys?

That's a very accurate time! haha

I will be sat ready to play next Wednesday at 1pm GMT for as soon as he walks through his front door :P

EDIT: Just thought we could have played our game early and just to revealed the score after the end of round 1. oh well.

PFC Sporting Take Convincing Win

It would be Sporting who came out the better side in this encounter between themselves and Malaysian outfit Sunlight Sky. Right from the get go, Sporting would have the majority of possession, and in the 24' minute Sturridge would play a lovely through ball to Lucas Moura, who disappointed last match, yet would have a lovely placed effort in the bottom left from the edge of the area.

This dominance would continue, when barely more than 10 minutes later, Ozil would find Sturridge, who once again played a brilliant through ball, this time to Marco Reus, who executed a near-exact replay of the first goal from the opposite side. This scoreline would stay the same going into the halftime break, with two clear chances taken by PFC.

Just eight minutes after the restart, a corner would fall to PFC, with Moutinho playing it short to Lucas Moura, who did a one-two with Moutinho, found Sturridge with acres of space, and Sturridge easily placed it in past the flailing arms of Timo Horn. 3-0.

However, this would come with a bittersweet moment soon after, as Sturridge was injured in the 60' minute, meaning that he will miss PFC's next game, a huge blow to the side.

The only other major opportunity in the match would fall to a freekick rebound for Sunlight as Nkoulou missed from an almost impossible angle.

Overall, it was clinical finishing that saw PFC Sporting take the three points, yet without Daniel Sturridge, it will be interesting to see how they cope against group leaders Living on FM FC from Wales next week, knowing that a single point would put them in to the next round. As it stands, the most adequate replacements for Sturridge are Aubameyang, who came on off the bench this match, or El Shaarawy, who has yet to be called up to the matchday 18. One thing is for sure: next week will be a nail-biter in Group D.

PFC Sporting MOTM: Daniel Sturridge
Sunlight Sky MOTM: Phil Jones

Good game to Yiliang and very fun to play against, he is a worthy opponent. Cheers mate, and good luck with the rest of your tournament. Bummed about the Sturridge injury, especially with more to play for (qualifying OR winning the group) but now I feel Nomadic and Disclaimers' pain. Oh well, again, GG to Yiliang.

Angry Burritos rage on

The Angry Burritos take Group C by the balls by beating injury plagued Out on Bale

In the second game of Group C, predicted underdogs Angry Burritos ended up convincing victors in an entertaining game
View attachment 231192
Out on Bale came into the game missing their key midfielder Mateo Kovacic, and had to field a slightly weakened side. As the game progressed, injuries to Konoplyanka (out for next game) and Sergio Ramos (a knock, ready for next game) also plagued the side that struggled to string together the passes.

The Angry Burritos came flying out of the starting blocks, and had 9 attempts on goal within the first 15 minutes. It seemed only a matter of time before the breakthrough would come, and after 25 minutes, they got their reward.
Hard-working forward Carlos Tevez, who scored 2 penalties in the opening game of the group, was played in by Kwadwo Asamoah, and turned Phil Jagielka who was left standing like the Bronze statue Nani has of himself in his livingroom. From 16 metres, Tevez smashed the ball into the top corner with his left foot, leaving Handanovic with no chance. 1-0

The Burritos pushed on, and had several attempts to increase their lead before half time, but Handanovic stood strong, and the teams went into the break at 1-0. The Burritos had truly been Angry in the first half, firing 18 shots to the 2 of Out on Bale, and picking up 3 yellow cards.

Manager Disclaimer must have given his team the hairdryer treatment at half time, because they came out of the break on fire. Only 5 minutes into the half, Diego Costa was played clean through, but Manuel Neuer saved his first attempt, and then stopped the second attempt with his feet with the goal gaping. Costa had his third helping as well, but was blocked by the defence.

The second half was tighter than the first, but the injuries weakened Out on Bale in key positions, and in the 56th minute, Coutinho showed Costa how it's done. Another key pass by Asamoah found him just outside the box, and he curled a delightful effort into the far corner. 2-0

At this point the game was all but over, but Carlos Tevez was still hungry. 10 minutes from time, Borja Valero played a hopeful ball into the space between the two CB's of Out on Bale. And a struggling Ramos could only limp towards the ball as Tevez ran past him. Ramos attempted a tackle, which ended about 5 metres away from the feet of Tevez, who brought the ball into the box, and finished calmly past Handanovic. 3-0

10 minutes later, the ref blew his whistle, and ensured that the Angry Burritos are all but secured to go through from Group C.

Another 2 goals from Tevez should put him in contention for the Golden Boot, and another MoM performance from surprising star Kwadwo Asamoah makes him a candidate for player of the tournament this far!

Credits to Disclaimer for a very well played game. Good humour and spirits in the chat can make even a loss (almost) enjoyable (as I noticed in our Random Card Game :P). If it wasn't for his injury problems, this would have probably been a much tighter game. Now Nomadic, go on and win your game to set up a Group final in our last game!

A very nice victory! Although i will have to take some credit for injuring Kovacic in the opening round :P.

We will have to wait until Wednesday to see if I can set up that group decider, but it wont be easy!
