FM17 Initial Thoughts

Anyone seeing continuous 1-on-1 chances being hit wide? Having a torrid time with Juventus. Both Dybala and Higuáin seem to 1 have composure during 1-on-1 situations.


Also majority of penalties are saved.. This shootout just cemented that thought for me after I had been missing them all season. I actually felt sorry for the AI...they were robbed haha.

Ps. I'm not saying the Match Engine is bugged. I'm just stating a few interesting scenarios I've found myself in.

Started a second save after my first seemed too easy. I got Hearts into the Group stage of the Europa League with little difficulty, and am unbeaten after 14 league games. Aberdeen and Hibs also got into the group stage easily, and Celtic are on 9 points after the 14 games.

I'm worried that the engine and game processing is flawed.
 
defence

I simply get my defence to tacakle or win the ball... I play as A.C. Milan with a fairly good defence. even Pescara got 24 shots on goal and i got 3 shots on goal, home. I tryed making the tactic as the assistant manager said. Nothing... Also offside. I tryed to make so many offside as possible with bacca. Havent seen one single offside in 10 matches?! haha! In fm16 offside where called as soon as you got the ball in the middle behind 3 defenders HAHA!
 
Really enjoying the game so far, but there's a coupe of small things which no longer seem to be in the game unless i'm mistaken.

When you set up a game in FM16, you could ask it to 'choose me a club' and it would randomly offer you a club to manage. I liked this as it would perhaps make me manage someone I wouldn't have otherwise considered.

Also, when selecting a club in FM16, you could click on a club and see their history and current setup etc.

Are these things no longer available, or am I just not looking in the right place?

EDIT:

Just realised that you can in fact still do both of these things, you just don't pick a club before clicking 'Advanced Setup' then it takes you through to the club selection part.

The "random club" feature is gone i think. If you choose "pick club later" at the very start where it asks you to pick a club, then it gives you the old FM16 list, where you can click on a club, once the game is loaded.
 
It still gave me the option 'Pick Club For Me' when i'd chosen to pick club later. Down in the bottom left when I was choosing my club.

I realised after posting my original message that both these things i'd mentioned were still available aha.
 
Has anyone's DoF actually done anything yet? Mine's set to do everything but accept transfers, but hasn't hired anyone, set scouting assignments, or shopped my transfer listed players.
 
This 64 bit thing, is that a setting you change or not? I've just got me a new laptop (i5 2.3ghz) and it's running 16 pretty quick with a lot of leagues loaded, will it run 17 similarly or faster?
 
what is everyones impression of the full game,i havent had time to play it yet but was wondering what changes have been made from the beta version if any?
 
I concede straight after scoring all the time. I have no idea how to stop it either.

Change the mentality of the team when scoring you can't just keep it on attacking. Also you can't expect the opposition to just sit back and not attack after conceding. Also factor in the team you are playing against. There are so many variables that could be a reason why you concede straight after.

It's literally from the kick off straight after. The last two have been Bournemouth away and Arsenal at home.
 
Is it worth buying! I'm just a little skeptic after the last pile of **** they released
 
it is amazing i am loving every bit of it except not being able to get rid of herrera & scheiderlin they just dont fit into my tactical style ffs gonna have to give em a few games n try flog em end of season lol
 
Concentration

I think its something to do with the players mental attributes e.g. Concentration.
 
on Concentration and DoF

love my DoF after handing over the signing of a big name defender where there was no "estimated cost" in the scout report. couldnt agree to a value and didnt want to overpay so I handed the negotiation over to my DoF, he managed to get him in to my surprised! (although I did have a sizeable transfer budget as Southampton - the guy, 5. Mauricio Lemos (great defender!) end up costing me 26 million - in a single payment.

Concentration - I've played since FM14 and never have I felt I have so many goals conceded from long balls by seemingly weaker teams because my 13million defender (in my case 17. Virgil van Dijk with a concentration value of 9) keep losing opposing team strikers. I just keep seem to have better defending records when I drop him for a lessser defender but much better concentration score. My plans are to slowly get rid of any players with concentration below 13. So Podolski with a finishing of 20 but cont of 8 was absolute **** for me.

Players are smarter when asking to leave as they won't let you agree to accept a bid if they meet your "reasonable asking price". since I have used to set it to 100million just to stave off any suitors - players actually actively negotiate the value you will be able to set for them.

team report is a monster of a tab for all the info you need about your team depth. absolute gem there.
