April Updates:
Chivas have finished the season on a high and end up in 2nd place behind Tigres. With the season ending, they have now moved on to the Mexican League's Play-Offs. In the Quarter-Finals, they played their Away Leg vs Jaguares and drew 1-1 at the Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna. Their next encounter for the decisive meeting will take place in a few days time back in Guadalajara.
Seeing themselves getting so close to the relegation zone, it seems that Leicester City finally coming back to their past season's form as the go on a rampage against anyone that comes in their way. Winning 6 games and collecting a draw in their past 7 matches in the nPower Championship. Scoring 11 goals on the way and only conceding 1...which was a draw. In that 7 game span, James Beadle added another goal to his tally while collecting 3 more assists. Seems he is becoming the spine of the team at this time.
Nottingham have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone. But they are still in 21st place and need to keep up their latest form. Just realized that since the start of March, they have won 2 games, drew 8 games and lost 2. Now the 2 games they have won have come in the last 3 matches they played split by a loss. Im sure the fans would have rather seen these draws halved between wins and losses. So as it is now, Nottingham just can't find the killer instinct to end games...or strong enough to hold on to their lead, seeing how all the matches ended with at least one goal a piece. By the way, these 2 wins came against Norwich and Birmingham. Wile the 0-1 lose came at the hands of Sheffield United who are 5th in the league and possess the strong defense.
Well well, it seems that Manchester City are back at it again. First off, Liverpool were pushed aside by the 'semi-mighty' Blues. Winning 3-0 in aggregate and breaking another record on their way by going 6 games without conceding a goal in Europa League. They will now take on Bordeaux in the Semi-Finals. In the EPL side of things, they have also started to up their game. Beating both Tottenham and Chelsea in consecutive weeks. Winning both their home games 4-0 and 2-0 respectively to push them up the table to 5th place and 5 points behind Spurs for the 4th and UEFA Champions League Qualifying spot. Their next EPL Match will be against the team that started their slump back in late December, Manchester United. The Manchester Derby hasn't much to offer, yet in United win the match, they will be only 1 point away from becoming English Champions for the 3rd year running and 21st league title in their history.
Braga have been on a slump lately, winning only 1 game in their last 6 matches while losing 3 and drawing 2. Seeing how they were so close to overtaking Sporting, fans will be disappointed with the loss of concentration and/or form.
Taking Braga's 3rd place in the month of April is Benfica. After a horrible start to the season, they have now hit their form...a little late for their liking but they wont be ending the season the same way they started. It seems though they will battle it for 3rd place against Braga when they meet up in the final fixture of the league season in 2 weeks time. Should be some fire-works we hope. It seems that the arrival of Jarl Horak has inspired the team to new heights. The player himself takes lots of credit and for good reason. In 6 appearances, he has now got 5 goals. With an average goal/match ration of just under 1, he has been raising lots of eye-brows lately.
Other News:
- Super Mario is still at it again with Manchester City and is desperate for a move away from the club.
- Daniel Alves sets a new record for poor discipline by recording 19 yellow cards and 2 red cards for Barcelona this far into the season. With a few games left, this record might rise even further. If anyone is wondering where Molist Mora gets in indiscipline from, look no further.
- Barcelona are on a 15-game winning streak in all competition and half way into the Champions League Final as they beat Lille in their first leg 2-1 away from Camp Nou. Outscoring their opponents 45-13.
- Both Rivaldo and Shevchenko have called it quits on their illustrious careers in the past month. Rivaldo made 74 caps and 34 goals for his country while collecting 23 trophies and 3 awards, 1 of them being FIFA's Ballon d'Or. Shevchenko has a total of 103 caps and 46 goals for Ukraine. All at the same time winning 18 trophies and 5 personnel awards, 1 being FIFA's Ballon d'Or.
