Penalty brace sees off Mexico

Another good performance from England today helped see off the Mexicans with ease. Mexico never helped their own case by giving not one but two penalties away to the English. Captain Frank Lampard converted both penalties easily and Jermain Defoe scored the other to hand the Three Lions a great win.

In the last game before the much anticipated World Cup, England impressed yet again with a fabulous 3-0 victory over their fiercest rivals. Goals from skipper Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and in form striker, Jermain Defoe helped the Three Lions to a giant morale booster before the big tournament.

World Cup squad announced

Daniel Oakes today named his England squad for the forthcoming World Cup in South Africa. There were not many shocks but the main one was to recall Paul Robinson rather than Ben Foster, after the Blackburn keeper had not been in the international scene for a while. Oakes has announced that Robert Green will be his number one for the tournament. Ledley King has been favoured in the final 23, rather than Joleon Lescott. Meanwhile, Gabby Agbonlahor will debut in his first major tournament for the national team, as will James Milner, Ashley Young, Joe Hart and Phil Jagielka.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am very happy with my final 23. I believe that we are well backed up in every department and have a great mix of skill, youth and experience. I will look for Frank to lead us to glory this summer.

good squad for the world cup mate some shock names in there like robinson and jagielka but they are good enough to do well for you :)

Yeah, Jagielka has proved a great back up so far. I am really happy with my squad. Rooney has not been scoring many but Defoe has been making up for it.

yeah hopefully defoe can take his form to the world cup for you oh and btw i think choosing lampard as the captain instead of ferdinand was a great choice :P :D

Good squad mate
Should get to the semi's no problem ;)

Will have to probably update the tournament tomorrow night. My mum is demanding I come off the computer OR ELSE :'(

genius stuff. hope the world cup will be in lots of detail :) got into this now so kiu

Well, if I dont win the World Cup, this story is over, I am afraid.

I think the World Cup updates will be in the same format as my current matches. Played one match and will probably update thatin the next hour.

Those kits are so much better than the current England kit !

England disappoint in opener

When hopes of a nation were expecting to start with a win, England could only deliver a draw against the USA. There was no spark, which they showed against Germany two weeks ago and Jermain Defoe's early effort was cancelled out by Michael Bradley. The Three Lions chances took another bashing as Glen Johnson was injured in the match. It is yet to be known how long Johnson will be out for.
