England waltz past Bahrain

steven_gerrard_england.jpg

England were impressive today as they brushed past Bahrain with a 4-0 win. Goals from Wayne Bridge, Wayne Rooney and a brace from Jermain Defoe gave them a confortable victory. Although not on the coresheet, Steven Gerrard was also impressive, bagging a couple of assists and taking away the man of the match. The Three Lions will go against Argentina knowing that a point will see them through to the knockout stages.

Higuain punishes wasteful Lions

58065_news.jpg

In a poor match to finish Group D today, England were beaten by Argentina, despite being much the better team. Argentina took both of the main chances they had through Gonzalo Higuain bagging both. England fans will be highly disappointed that their team were so wasteful against a big rival.

England have qualified from Group D despite only winning one game. They will now play Cameroon in the first knockout round.

Daniel Oakes had this to say:

''I am very disappointed with our performance in the group stage. The main thing though is that we are through to the knockout stages. Now we must press on and perform much better and come together as a unit, that is what we are lacking.''

Vintage Crouch spurs on great comeback

In a fantastic last sixteen contest, england edged past Cameroon after a dramatic fightback. Cameroon found themselves 2-0 up through a brilliant Samuel Eto'o brace but the Three Lions never gave in. When Crouch was brought on for the injured Defoe, Crouch instantly changed the game. The Tottenham striker grabbed a brace and helped England gain another quarter final place.

Defoe ruled out

Jermain Defoe walked off in England's dramatic victory over Cameroon and we have now found out the extent of his injury. jermain suffered a broken jaw and he will be out for up to a month, which will rule him out for the rest of the World Cup. This comes as a massive blow to England. Their top goalscorer in this year's competition will not play another minute. Defoe was seen crying earlier when he found out the news.

Daniel Oakes' Three Lions continued there quest towards ending the 44 years with an emphatic victory over Greece tonight. Goals from Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch, Ashley Young and Steven Gerrard handed England a 4-1 win. Steven Gerrard produced a fine display as well as many others but he was in a class of his own as he took the man of the match award.

World Cup Semi Final Draw

The draw was made today and this is who will play each other in the semi finals of the 2010 FIFA World Cup from South Africa.

Italy v France

England v Germany

England have been drawn against Germany for the semi finals in the World Cup. Here is what England manager Daniel Oakes had to say.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am delighted at how far we have got and I must say, I did not really expect it after some results I have seen this year. I fully believe that we can now go on and win it. We beat Germany just four weeks ago by a convincing margin but we must not be complacent and must make sure we concentrate fully on getting the result.

FIFA World Cup 2010

1st Semi Final

Italy 2-0 France

Goals from Vincenzo Iaquinta and Allessandro Del Piero saw the reigning World Champions get through to the World Cup final today. France were arguably the better team in the match but Italy held strong and Gigi Biffon had a fabulous game.

The World Champions will now face the winner of England and Germany tomorrow.

Super Wayne sends Germans packing

With the pressure of a nation heaped on England today, they prevailed with a fantastic 3-0 win over their main rivals. Wayne Rooney finally found his scoring boots, netting a fabulous hattrick as the Three Lions romped home to record the same result recorded a month ago in the friendly.

I am so proud of the team today. Wayne came in with a fantastic performance and finally showed me what a phenominal player he is. I am just speechless. To beat Germany on the way to a World Cup final is priceless.

World Cup Final 2010

A nation heartbroken as Three Lions fall at the final hurdle

In a moment England fans have been waiting for for forty four years, the Three Lions were beaten at the final hurdle. Italy took the lead through two quick first half goals and as England tried as much as they could they could only get one goal back. As a result, Italy have retained the trophy that they also won in 2006. It is still to be known now, whether England manager Daniel Oakes will indeed resign, like he said he would do.

I was really proud of my players when we managed to reach the final, but then I expected to win. I am very disappointed with our performance in the final and we could and should, have played far better. I will not comment on my future at this time.

I am not sure, I might carry it on at a later date. I have got something else planned :)

Unlucky :S But do carry on, it's a great story and you could still try and get a club job.
