Done really well and you lost that RB? That sucks since he looks brilliant. You'll need to resign him at the first opportunity.

Last i left it we were 2nd and doing well despite a bit of bad form. Well that bad form exploded and coupled with injuries has seen us dropping points right left and centre. 6 losses in a row! SIX not the form for champions league hopefulls. We beat already crowned champions Chealsea on the last day but it didn't help.
ohdear_zpsd756572d.png

This left us 5th, One of 3 teams on 71 points. Missing champions league qualification on goal difference.....Annoying is not the word.
PremierLeague_OverviewStages-7_zps19096d03.png

I would of taken 5th at the start of the season. Automatic europa qualification or 6th was my starting aim. I have surpassed that. The summer will see all dead wood moved on, rotation players who are not good enough to even sit on the bench, replaced by youth who are.

I also got a job offer.

No thanks Mr. Puckett.

Mojo, firstly, I have to say I've read this story from start to finish and its amazing! I love the idea and everything! I just love it!

Now, I need some help. I currently have a Southampton save and I am a starting my third season and am beginning to hit a financial situation. I signed some quality players while trying to sell some others, but then I couldn't sell them and I offer them continuously and need to sell them to cut wage bill because it too high and this series inspired me to start using my own youth intake as my up and coming players, but feel I should stabilize my finances before I start that. How can I sell my players for a price, because I surely don't want to release a player that I could possibly get a good price for!
Thanks in advance :)
Honestly you need to play them, Form brings in the suitors. I assume you have tried offering them around? My finances are actually amazing because i never use my transfer budget.

I'm actually ok at right back since i retrained Sim Ritchie there. He had all the stats in the right places. He's also only in his early 20's

Yes I have offered them around and Added to unwanted list, etc.
About playing them ~ Would friendlies work? Or should it be in real games, where I know I will win( Like a match vs Ipswich who isn't doing to well in the premiership?

i honestly don't know if friendlies work or not sorry

Thanks anyways :)

Also, Do you have tips to getting good youth intake, or is it just luck? I'm at Southampton and after 2 youth intakes my best youth player that has come through has been a 2 1/2 star player and I did check for the glitch, but it didn't seem to be that way based on all their stats. I have the top facilities that my board will allow.

Greetings,

I have a few questions, hopefully they don't sound silly - I'm just starting to learn to play FM13.

How do you recognize a good player? I used the stars rating so far but you often proved those ratings wrong. For example, you say on page 2 that Ben Vickers and Kyle Bell are decent players, but most of their numbers are grey. What are the most important stats?

How do I recognize the best strategy for my team? I try to find the most suitable position for each player, but I do not know, what is more important... a overall team strategy (like 4-4-2 with wingers to exploit the flanks) or do find the best suitable positions and stick to that.

After all those youth training and using youth squads, what do you think are the most important points to be at least a bit successful?

Thanks a lot in advance,
I try to play with Guernsey like you did :-)

Seeing as you are good with youth and training, etc... I have a 20 yr old ST who broke his leg and is out 6-8 months. He was predicted to become a 4 1/2 star players, but due to this injury I don't think he'll make it. Should I sell or keep and continue to train him?

Guys commenting and looking for advice:

I don't mean to be rude in the slightest, but there are plenty of specific threads in other sections of this forum where you will get advice.

This thread is about the lad's Guernsey story, and at the risk of sounding rude stuff like that clutters it up, goes off topic and detracts from the main purpose of the thread for everyone else viewing it.

Sorry again guys... Just I got a little excited when I seem a new post then realised it was just that. Hope you find the correct advice somewhere and I'm sure Mojo might drop you a PM with his own advice.

It's a bug with the stars. Sign them up and they normally change. I use the highlight key attributes stats tab underneath the attributes to peg what strong areas im looking for, though alot are common sence. Finishing for strikers, tackling for defenders, passing for midfielders, crossing for wingers etc.

IMO don't play anyone out of position regardless of stats, retrain them for a year first. Also keep ontop of your facilities, if you have **** facilities you get **** players.

It's not necessarily the end of him. He will possibly drop his PA or rather he will never rech it, But my star striker is only rated 3 stars by my staff and out performs a 5 star season after season.

This is actually fair, i spent a year trawling these forums before i posted. Picking up ideas and lerning from the other members. Some of the stickies are excellent.

Proper update in next hour or so. :)

Still not title contenders, The bookies remember our collapse it seems.
odds-3_zps07ac92b5.png

I'm not sure if this is fair or not, We only managed it once before. I know I wont use it but that transfer budget is hardly the stuff dreams are made of. My own exspectations of champions league are irrelivent.
exspectations-1_zps49186e72.png

Friendlies went well, youth team narrowly lost to Southend. The rest are wins including 6-2 drubbing of Okayama FC, Our Japanese feeder club. Real shame i cant sign a Japanese player to create even more funds!
friend-6_zps35df9f5a.png

10 games in. We started at a blistering pace stringing together 5 straight wins, Before a mini blip ruined it.
fix10_zpsfa13b8d7.png

Currently 7th with 2-3 games in hand on the teams above us. Overall we are on course.
10-4_zpsef8dce4a.png

20 Games in and our form is OK. Only one loss, though that loss was a shocking mauling by Watford of all teams. few draws, with some excellent wins over Arsenal and Liverpool has us looking good.
fix20_zps738496fd.png

5th is alright for now, points off the teams above us will see us right.
20-3_zps71ef3912.png

Next update europa league. I also forgot to screenshot the league at 30 games? Can i back track the table at all? Failing that it will be the finished table after the Europa update sometime.

I have designs on winning the Europa league this season. We are better than alot of the other teams that have won it over the years.

Dutch giants PSV gave us nightmares both home and away. win and a loss was harder on them than us.

Young boys got a shock draw against us as well as losing at Footes Lane. Far better side than i anticipated. I need to stop doing that if i am to win this competition.

Anji were IMO the weakest team in this group and so it proved when we hammered then 6-0 at Footes Lane, Then 3-1 away from home.
AnjiMakhachkalavGuernsey_OverviewOverview_zps561ab1d2.png

The group stage was not as easy as i anticipated with a loss and a draw bundled into the mix. 2nd is good enough for now.
EuropaLeague_OverviewStages-6_zpsc7e22645.png

What is our rewrd for qualifying for the knockout rounds?
EuropaLeague_OverviewStages-4_zps54650d2c.png

German giants Schalke await. If we beat them we would get this.
EuropaLeague_OverviewStages-2-1_zps7ee93c77.png

Bordeaux or Heerenveen. All winnable games.

I really don't need to add much to my squad to become genuine contenders. Youth intake gave me at least 1 required piece.
GuernseyYouthCandidates_SquadPlayers-5_zps3593703e.png

Richard Gibbs
Probably never good enough for my first team, Should find his calling off the bench later in life.
RichardGibbs_OverviewAttributes_zps907c05f3.png

Jack Nightingale
Sim Ritchie has some competition for his right back slot in 4-5 years. Several loans for this kid, I'll be keeping a close eye on him.
JackNightingale_OverviewAttributes_zps1082dd47.png

Elliot Forster
Looks an amazing keeper, But better than Jon Curtis? I'm not sure yet. Quite a few loans and i'll be watching.
ElliotForster_OverviewAttributes_zps3f2a1a62.png

Derek Leech
Long term successor to Ayissi maybe. Looks good but perhaps not the orld beater i would like, only 15 so has time.
DerekLeech_OverviewAttributes_zps0c777b59.png

Daryl Shearer
Guernsey has it's own Shearer! Though clearly not as good as Alan might not be to bad off the bench in years to come.
DarylShearer_OverviewAttributes_zpse4e4bf2d.png

Chris Goss
Lunardi isn't getting any younger, Perhaps this is his replacement if he comes on the right way. Loans lons and more loans for this kid
ChrisGoss_OverviewAttributes_zps95c4c197.png

Onto Europe. How would we fair with the knock out rounds?

Just ask Schalke! 10-3 on aggregate.....

Heerenveen were dispatched easily at home. Away from home our own players conspired against us, getting sent off iin the 20th minute. That alone made the result an outstanding one.

Porto awaited in the Quarter final. A brace from Lunardi led us on our way in Portugal. We crushed them at Footes Lane for a 10-4 aggregate.

Italians Udinese waited for us in the semi final. On paper the strongest team in this competition. We played superbly at home and Udinese scared the **** out of us away.
