From Borussia With Love

Wow. That was... outstanding. Another excellent update and this story is right up there with 'Slaying the Dragons', 'Emulating Mourinho' and Kris' FM10 story.

And: Golyam Oblak... :P

Cheers for the support guys, and apologies to joeydot but I did give you warning in the opening post. I'm trying to make the story more like a novel and I appreciate that it won't be to everyone's taste ,but it is the kind of story that appeals most to me and is how I enjoy writing.

Each chapter is, in essence, 5 updates. Would anyone prefer me to update individual or continue to group them in chapter form?

I think like you said mate, if this is your preferred style of writing and would rather get fivein one, do it that way. Some people might prefer briefer updates, almost cliffhanger like but i like the way you're doing it right now.

do what you do mate, thats the reason youve got alot of us hooked, especially some of the story writers who also write in great detail don't change anything ;)

III - The Land Of The Rising Sun

Klopp left the Millerntor-stadion with child-like excitement, frantically searching through the list of names in his phonebook before reaching his sporting director. There was a distant cheer as he made his way towards the mass of taxis awaiting outside, celebrations of a late winner from the visiting fans who had seen their heroes turn around a goal deficit, mantaining the slightest of hopes for a playoff spot in the German Second Division. Perhaps Dortmund would meet them next season? Deniz Naki was pushed firmly to the back of Klopp's mind as he imagined the gem that his chief scout had unearthed. How can he be as good as Dickel had described, and yet completely unknown to the Dortmund boss? Although he had absolute faith in his scout, Klopp was desperate to see this talent for himself.

'Jurgen, are you alright?' Zorc answered. His words carried a strangely nervous tone as they began to crack, almost as though he was expecting the call. 'Err, what can I do for you?'

'I've just got off the phone with Norbert. He's found a young player that he feels could be a good signing for us, but I would really like to take a look at him myself,' Klopp pleaded.

'No problem, get a flight out straight away, as long as you are back for the Freiburg game next weekend. Just don't ne-...'

'But I have to go, he's apparently got interest from several parties and...wait...you said yes?' the manager was shocked. He wouldn't normally be allowed leave at such short notice, and there was clearly something playing on his friend's mind. Something was wrong.

'Just charge it as a club expense. And don't worry about the board meeting, I'll have it rearranged. Have a safe trip.' Zorc continued with a guilty edge to his voice, before abruptly ending the call. Michael Zorc's thoughts were obviously elsewhere, but Klopp was just relieved to have been given the green light. He scurried into a cab, directing the driver to the nearest airport. As the sun went down and twilight arrived, the sky darkened, and the lights of the highrise buildings glimmered and twinkled on the indigo backdrop. The Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport emerged on the horizon amongst the silhouetted skyline, it's bright, neon lighting illuminating the alluring entrance as their vehicle pulled into the parking bay. Klopp paid the man generously and made his way to the check-in desk.

The bustling airport crowds assembled in the spacious waiting area as another cluster of incoming passengers passed through. Klopp took a seat at the bar, catching wind of the unmistakable aromas emanating from the airport bakeries as he listened in on the conversations surrounding him. Many conversed their exotic destinations, although the easily recognisable business travellers typically spoke of women and football. With the World Cup approaching fast, there was a growing confidence in the national side; Germany would be there or there-abouts come the tournament's end. The Dortmund manager was in agreement, optimistic that his country could compete with the Spanish favourites and the exciting South American sides. He was looking forward to the competition now more than ever.

Time seemed to stand still as Klopp waited for the call, his flight would be departing in just under an hours time, but it would seem like an eternity. Boredom seemed a common theme amongst the waiting voyagers. The tiring manager ordered another drink, his sixth beer in the last couple of hours; he'd certainly sleep well on the long plane journey ahead. Klopp endured the doldrums for as long as he could bare, before finishing his pint and taking a short tour of the gift shop. He was continually recognised, stopping on occassion to pose for photographs and sign autographs. It was a relief when his flight was eventually called.

'This is the first call for flight four-six-five with Avanti Air. Would all passengers make their way to gate twenty-two for departure...Now boarding Avanti Air flight four-six-five to Osaka, Japan.'

amazing stuff. followed your last and gonna follow this.
can I guess at the wonderkid; kagawa? xD

Cheers for the generous comments, I can only apologise at the size of the latest update. This time of year is really hectic and I'm not going to get much writing done until the new year because of work. Thanks for you continued patience and support guys |)

Amazing few updates, Keep in Chapter format. it is fitting for the way you are trying to write.

No quams with anything in the last few updates. Stories like ours will always struggle for interest because they are not picture books. As long as you have a loyal following it will be worth it.

I am actually very happy and somewhat surprised at the following so far. It's great when the top writers on the site show some interest

like it very much :)

Maybe could you pop in and take a look at my Athletico story as you was following my Spurs one ?

The only problem I've got is that I can't read on. Keep up the great work buddy.

III - The Land Of The Rising Sun - continued

The plane finally touched down on Asian soil after an insipid twelve hour flight, with the late afternoon sun flickering in the sky almost apologetically. The temperature wasn't dissimilar to that of Germany, although the liquid sunshine was well and truly behind them. Klopp inhaled the crisp, Japanese spring air as he traversed the delicate metal stairway, following the queue of passengers across the runway and into the terminal. The manager made light work of the footslog through customs, and was soon hotel bound via the city's innovative transport links.

Dickel welcomed Klopp on his arrival, and the German duo enjoyed an evening of drinking and gambling. The Dortmund boss had been a keen gambler in the past, and claimed to have a broad knowledge on the subject. In truth, he was nothing more than a charlatan. After becoming a manager, his betting habits had curtailed as he tried to maintain a new found professionalism. Tonight, however, he was allowed to feed his addiction, like a smoker succumbing to cravings or a junkie surrendering to the void. It felt good to relieve his only serious vice.

'I'm about ready to call it a day,' Dickel announced as he stood, elevating himself using the table, 'I'll go and get them tapes for you to watch of the lad, I think you'll be impressed.'

'Yeah, I'll come with you,' the manager agreed as he arose, discarding his remaining drink to one side; he'd had enough some time ago, and wasn't really renowned for his ability to hold his ale.

The pair stumbled to the room, bouncing between the narrow corridor walls in a semi-conscious state. Klopp bade his companion farewell, retiring to his own lodgings with video in hand. The drunken manager collapsed prematurely, his head barely caressing the pillow before his eyes closed and thoughts drifted into dream...Tomorrow they would observe the Japanese starlet in training, before watching a competitive fixture the following day.

Klopp's alarm exploded with a jagged and shattering death knell, as if from the deepest depths of **** itself. He'd become accustomed to a tentative and sympathetic awakening, but his hangover had transformed the usually refreshing melody into an abhorrent jumble of piercing stridency. He struggled to his feet, swaying uncontrollably as he staggered to the shower. The scolding water eased his throbbing head instantly, but the relief was soon relinquished as the poisonous toxins took control of his curdling stomach. Akin to a rollercoaster ride, his body swirled and rocked. The walls even appeared to shift up and down as the virtigo stricken manager slumped over one knee and projected vomit across the gleaming, white floor. This was no state in which to meet anyone, let alone a possible signing.

'Don't worry, it's nothing a strong coffee can't fix,' Dickel inspired sanctimoniously as his hand came to rest firmly upon Klopp's shoulder, as if from nowhere. 'You really should lock your door, any smug fool could wander in.'

Somehow, the scout had avoided illness, or could hide it with inconceivable ease. After giving his friend a moment's respite, they headed for the Nagai Ball Gall Field, the favoured training venue of J-League heavy hitters, Cerezo Osaka. They were hosting an isolated open training session, a rare glimpse into the inner workings of the historic football club. And there was one man that the Dortmund twosome were itching to meet: Japanese international, Shinji Kagawa.
