GCSE's

Uni's never look at GCSE's, once you get to A Level, GCSE's are irrelevant, I'm starting all new subjects A Level with exception of History, what a wasteful education :)

I'm in my 2nd year of the GCSE course and I'm aiming for 5A's 2B's and 2C's. I've got mocks in January and I'm not worried. The last timeI revised properly, I got over stressed and frigged the exam. Last year I did very little revision but was in top form for the exams and did much better. I like doing things on the spur of the moment rather than prepare things as I am very good at improvising so I use that in exams. It's a case of finding the right balance between study and leisure and everybody is different

unis also look at GCSE for the reli top ones like oxford, cambridge and medicine course.

Pretty much straight out revising in lessons after mocks, finished the whole Maths syllabus the other day, now we just start it again

Yeah they look at A-Levels but say there are two guys both with All As in their A-Levels and one got 14 A*s and 1A whilst the other got 15 A*s in all the same subjects, who are they more likely to pick?

Correct. Oxbridge, the Russel group and even Red Brick Universities.

This has compelled me to start doing homework, coursework and revision. I have a written test in my worst lesson next week (French) and so I'm going to write the work before hand, memorise it and then write it out in the exam.

expect they would want both lol

15 a*'s ****** ****. i only took 10 subjects.:$ I reckon if you get 4 a's at a level you wont have to worry about getting in a decent uni i mean maybe not oxford or something.

The top universities get all A* candidates all the time.
The sixth form college I am thinking of going to is Dartford Grammar which is 20th in Britain of non-fee paying colleges but they only take 80 students ( only 10 girls) who don't currently go to the school and you have to get immense GCSEs, do well in your Modern Foreign Language (No chance) and you have to live near the school( I live over an hour away by public transport.

no they dont fatshit

i am applying now as is most of my school year.

people wanting to do biology at York need ABB at a-level.

Maths AT bath AAB at a-level

Computer science at warwick- BBB

they dont alway want massive grades.

there all in the top 12 uni's in the country

I'm talking about Oxbridge/Russel Group.

They want AAA in most subjects and because of 40x the amount of entrants per places they have to weed you out through GCSEs before interviews.

1st ever GCSE for me on thursday :( Physics.
been getting A*'s in my mock & revision tests though so I should be okay ;)

My 4th science module test of nine is in January. It's Physics. We're doing biology now.
I have done all my multiple choice. We have to do the written ones now. Twice as hard.

i did additional science when i was 16, that was hard, the physics one oncluded the 1st as module for physics

I do triple science so I do tests for each science 3 times plus ISAs. On Sunday mornings I have to do Astronomy as well. It's the hardest subject I have ever learned as well. Grr.

i hated the third test on eacg science, the C3, B3 and the P3s they where hard, and i didnt revise ver often

I've just finished my a-levels (taking a gap year, have unconditional offer from manchester) and I only got BBC lol. GCSE'S aren't too bad if you revise, I didn't rise enough and managed to pass so if you revise you'll pass no doubt.

Just had my mocks and some of grades i got so far, all done without revision

R.S 1/2 Course A
English Language B
Geography D
History B
Biology CC
Maths C
Chemistry DD
P.E Theory D
ICT D

Not too bad considering I haven't revised to be honest, most those D's will turn to C's or B's by time the real exams come along.
