actually, the reason he held the ball was lack of obvious pasess....when you instructed your team not to retain possession, you actually told them to make more risky passess...while that may be cool in unlocking stuborn defences, in most games it is not adviseable...you should play narrower so that the fb is closer to his teammates and gives him an option to pass the ball to, and perhaps use a playmaker role in central midfield as another option...in front of the attacking fullback should be either an inside forward support or adv playmaker support, depending on the type of player you have...if he is fast with good dribbling skills, you want inside forward, whilst for real tiki taka, you should have a player that looks for pass rather than dribble (adv plamaker)...that said, smart wingers are very hard to find in game...
