I think Bakari is possibly the best regen I've ever seen... So lucky to pick him up... But Djalo seems to outscore him?
Bakari has a creative role Djalo is a poacher so that's why.

I think get moving to San Marino!
I've just noticed they are currently at an unplayable level! I'll stay at Mafra and hope they re appear one the league reload date.

Absolutely brilliant story with that manager mate. Been a silent reader for awhile but a very very impressive story :)

Do we think a manager with that record, who never managed in the UK would get knighted?

**** right!! You have one an insane amount of trophies including 2 UCL's!! And you won both of them from a wheelchair which is even more impressive!!

I have to wonder though, as I can't think of any British managers who have never managed over here.

THE GREAT SAN MARINO CHALLENGE

View attachment 358689View attachment 358690

I have created a new Manager for this part of the story, Martorino D'Arco who is Sammarinese and born in 2047, making him but a whipper snapper at 25 years of age.

Now the extension of my story will be a San Marino challenge with a twist, Primarily it is a youth challenge with a few exceptions. Here are the rules I have decidedon.

1. Whilst being primarily a youth challenge I am allowed to sign players of Sammerinese nationality, They must have sole San Marino nationality or be declared for San Marino.
2. Players sent to the club from parent club Cesena are allowed to be used, regardless of nationality.
3. Greyed out players are free game, I can sign as many as I want/need regardless of nationality.
4. Topple the devilishly good looking manager at the top of the hall of fame.

As at the start of this journey, I am always open to new or improved rules so please feel free to suggest changes and the like.

Thereally hard part with this challenge is going to be bringing youth through, I will be in no position to stall dual nationality players careers if they opt for Italy, If the next Totti comes through i'll need to use him for the club even if it will cost the country in the long run. The NT is not going to make any progress until the club get to Serie A. So with all of this said let us start with out lining the club.

from wikipedia

San Marino Calcio is a Sanmarinese football club based in Serravalle.
The club was founded in 1960[2] as S.S. Serenissima (Società Sportiva Serenissima). Serenissima merged with S.S. Juvenes in 1973, changing its name to A.C. San Marino[2] (Associazione Calcio San Marino) and in 1988–89 to its current name, San Marino Calcio.

The club was founded as Società Sportiva Serenissima in 1960 by the San Marino Football Federation,[2] in order to have a team representing the Republic of San Marino in the Italian league. The club was later purchased by Sanmarinese and Italian entrepreneurs.[2]
The foundation year is still disputed, mainly due to another team sponsored (but not owned) by the San Marino Football Federation, called Libertas-Tre Penne, having taken part in the Italian championship in 1959. The crest of Tre Penne is still visible on that of San Marino Calcio. Serenissima also inherited Libertas-Tre Penne's colors.[2]
San Marino Calcio is the only professional football team in the Republic of San Marino that is allowed to play exclusively in the Italian football league system. Since the San Marino Football League is completely amateur, the club is also the only professional team in the Republic.[2] Another team from San Marino, A.C. Juvenes/Dogana, competed in both the amateur levels of Italian football and in the Sanmarinese league in the past, but has since withdrawn from the FIGC.[3]

A.C. San Marino began playing in 1960 in the Seconda Categoria, since the Terza Categoria did not exist in the Italian football league system at that time. After being promoted from the Seconda and Prima Categoria, the team began playing in the higher level, the Promozione before being relegated to the Prima Categoria in the 1976–77 season. They continued to play in the Prima Categoria for the next four seasons until they won the championship and were promoted to the Promozione again in the 1979–80 season. A.C. San Marino's stay in the Promozione was short lived, however; within two seasons they were relegated to the Prima Categoria.[2]
The team established themselves as a yo-yo club as they were once again promoted to the Promozione as champions in the 1984–85 season. The team then saw back-to-back championships as they won the Promozione the following season, and were promoted for the first time to the Serie D, the highest amateur league in Italy. San Marino's success continued as they finished in second place in Serie D in the 1986–87 season, a championship they went on to win in the following year. In the 1988–89 season, the team appeared in the lowest level of the Italian professional league (Serie C2) for the first time.[2]
In 1988 A.C. San Marino became a joint stock company and changed its name from A.C. San Marino to San Marino Calcio. The renamed team was relegated to Serie D in the 1989–90 season after finishing second-last in Serie C2. After finishing 17th in the 1991–92 season San Marino Calcio were relegated again, this time to the Eccellenza, but were again promoted to Serie D in the 1992–93 season. In the 1995–96 season San Marino Calcio were relegated to the Eccellenza again after a three-year stay in Serie D, but they were again promoted in the 1996–97 season.[2]
The club's success was due in part to the appointment of the San Marino national football team manager Giampaolo Mazza, who led them to two non-consecutive Eccellenza championships. In the 1999–2000 season San Marino Calcio were promoted to the Serie C2 as champions of Serie D.

San Marino Calcio began the new millennium in the fourth level of Italian professional football, receiving a major boost with the arrival of the legendary San Marino international Andy Selva. Napoli (old Napoli which bankrupted in 2004) also takeover the club as investor in 2000[4] but re-sold in November 2002.[5] San Marino Calcio consolidated their place in Serie C2 by finishing in the top half of the league standings for the next three seasons.[2] The team was able to reach the 2003–04 play-off final, but was defeated, and remained in Serie C2 after finishing fourth in the league.[6] San Marino Calcio's 2004–05 season was more successful: they were victorious in the play-off final, and thus reached Lega Pro Prima Divisione (formerly Serie C1) for the first time. This is the highest level the team has ever reached in its history.[7] The team was relegated again to Lega Pro Seconda Divisione during the 2006–07 season.[8]
In December 2006 Werther Cornieti, the chairman of the club, left due to controversial allegations and criticism during a sports broadcast. Daniele De Luigi was later confirmed as the new chairman of San Marino Calcio.

When I take over things are certainly not rosy in San Marino, They have spent the past several years either being relegated or narrowly avoiding relegation. Here are the last 4 league tables from when they were at a playable level.

Onto the National Team.

The San Marino national football team (Italian: Nazionale di calcio di San Marino) is the national football team of San Marino, controlled by the San Marino Football Federation (FSGC). The team has enjoyed very little success due to the republic's tiny population, the second smallest of any UEFA country.
The first official game played by a San Marino team was a 4–0 defeat in a European Championships qualifier to Switzerland in 1990. Previously, a San Marino side had lost 1–0 to a Canadian Olympic team in 1986, but this was not an official match. Since making their competitive bow, San Marino have competed in qualifying for every European Championships and World Cup, but have never won a match in either competition. They have only ever won one game, beating Liechtenstein 1–0 in a friendly match on 28 April 2004.
San Marino is currently tied with Bhutan and Turks and Caicos Islands, for last (207th) in the FIFA World Rankings.[1] However, San Marino ranks 203rd out of 232 teams in the Elo Rankings.[2]

Though the San Marino Football Federation formed in 1931, the federation did not establish a national team until 1986, when a team representing the Federation played Canada's Olympic team in an unofficial international. San Marino gained affiliation to governing bodies FIFA and UEFA in 1988,[3] allowing the team to participate in major championships. Prior to this, Sammarinese players had been considered Italian in international football contexts.[4]
San Marino's first match in a FIFA sanctioned competition was against Switzerland on 14 November 1990 in a qualifier for the 1992 European Championships. San Marino lost 4–0, and went to lose all eight qualifiers. The team particularly struggled in away matches, losing every one by at least four goals. San Marino scored only one goal, a penalty in a 3–1 defeat at home to Romania,[5] and conceded 33 goals in total.[6]
For their first World Cup qualifying campaign, San Marino were drawn in a group with England, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Turkey. The opening match resulted in a 10–0 hammering at the hands of Norway. The return match was less one-sided, finishing 2–0 to the Norwegians. A 4–1 defeat in Turkey saw San Marino score their first World Cup goal, and a 0–0 draw against the same opposition on 10 March 1993 gave them their first ever point. In their final qualifier, against England, Davide Gualtieri scored the fastest goal in World Cup Qualifying history—after 8.3 seconds—though the team went on to lose 7–1.[7] San Marino finished the campaign with one point, and conceded 46 goals in 10 matches.[8]
The team's qualification campaign for Euro 1996 followed a similar pattern to that of the previous European championships, as they lost every game. A match away to Finland gave San Marino their first goal away from home in the European championships, but the team lost 4–1.[9] Their only other goal came in a 3–1 home defeat to the Faroe Islands; the two wins over San Marino were the only points gained by the Faroe Islands in the group. In the return match, a 3–0 scoreline in Toftir, is the Faroe Islands record competitive win.[10]
Even by Sammarinese standards, qualification for the 1998 World Cup was disappointing. Losing every game by three goals or more, San Marino failed to score a single goal.[11] This is the only World Cup qualifying tournament in which they have failed to score. Qualification for Euro 2000 again resulted in defeats in every game. The closest game was against Cyprus, a 1–0 defeat on 18 November 1998.[12]
In April 2001, San Marino gained their first ever away point, drawing 1–1 with Latvia in Riga.[13] The team ended the 2002 World Cup qualifying group with a new best of three goals, though one of these came in a 10–1 defeat to Belgium. In Euro 2004 qualifying San Marino lost all eight matches, failing to score. The closest result was a 1–0 home defeat to Latvia, with the winner scored in the last minute.[14]
In April 2004, San Marino gained their first, and as of September 2012 only, win in their 65th attempt, a 1–0 victory over Liechtenstein in a friendly on 28 April 2004 courtesy of a fifth minute goal by Andy Selva. The match was Martin Andermatt's debut as Liechtenstein manager.[15] Results during qualification for the 2006 World Cup followed a similar vein to previous qualifying groups. Matches were generally one-sided defeats, with the exception of single goal defeats at home to Lithuania and Belgium.[16]
San Marino's opening Euro 2008 qualifying match resulted in a record 13–0 defeat at home to Germany on 6 September 2006.[17] They scored only twice and conceded fifty-seven goals in losing all twelve matches, although the home matches against Ireland, Cyprus and Wales were each lost by a single goal.[18]
In the qualification tournament for the 2010 World Cup, they lost all ten matches played and failed to qualify. They conceded 47 goals in those fixtures, including 10 in a defeat to Poland, which became Poland's highest scoring victory of all time,[19] and scored just once, in a 3–1 defeat to Slovakia.[20] Qualifying for UEFA Euro 2012 started in a similar way, the first nine matches all being defeats with an aggregate of 49 goals conceded and none scored, their best result being a one-goal loss to Finland at home, with the worst being a heavy 11–0 loss to the Netherlands, which became the Netherlands' highest scoring victory of all time and San Marino's worse ever away defeat.[21] This was then followed up by two lighter defeats, a 5–0 home loss against Sweden, before completing the campaign with a 4–0 away loss to Moldova.

Here are the NT's results over the last few years, What is most surprising is 2 wins one in world cup qualifying. So this means I will not get the honour of winning San Marinos first points.

This is how the current qualification campaign is going, Unsurprisingly 6 defeats out of 6.
View attachment 358714

Currently ranked 200th in the world, So better than when I first started this save but still the worst ranked team in Europe.

Good luck with this Mojo, I'm sure you'll find it much easier then I did :L.

Following my own self set rules 3 players come in before the season starts, All 100% Sammarinese.
View attachment 358752

Maicol Benedetti

My coaches say he can be one of the best players at the club, i'd love to say i'll take it slowly and bring him on right. However, my squad is so thin I simply can't do that, so he will find himself getting plenty of first team action.
View attachment 358753

Tommaso Cozzolino

More than likely back upo but at this level, with players entirley lacking ability you just never know!
View attachment 358754

Giancarlo Moggi

Despite his advancing years, and entire lack of caps he is a class act at this level. If we can get one or two seasons off him i'll be happy.

The Coppa Italia di Lega Pro has also been drawn, Sadly I haven't been in Italy long enough yet to know if this is a good or bad group....

Our friendlies have been a slightly mixed bag but on the whole have gone really well. We are as ready as we are ever going to be.....

this is how we will be lining up.

I have decided to update the season evewry 10 league games or closest approximation, and include all other cup matches in the updates that happen around that time.

After 10 games we are flying, I honestly didn't expect to play quiote so well with such bad players! Just the single loss and i'm very happy.
View attachment 358761

We are second I presume on head to head, As our goal difference is far better since our defence has been rock solid all season.

Coppa Italia di Lega Pro has produced a pair of 1-1 draws, nothing to exciting but it is what it is.

Sadly this wasn't enough to see us through, So despite being undefeated we went out of the Coppa Italia di Lega Pro.
