We have to make up 5 points on Wolfsburg, can we do it?

BUNDESLIGA
Werder Bremen 2-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

View attachment 97957
Bender, Jehl, Christensen, Jalali, Golemis, Bjarnason, Becker, Horvath, Ricardo (Bauer 72), Battista (Jankowski 72), Konrad

Not the best start to an historic charge to the title as a defensive lapse at the end allowed Bremen to steal a point

BUNDESLIGA
FC Ingolstadt 0-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

View attachment 97956
Bender, Jehl, Christensen, Jalali, Golemis (Neumeister 70), Bjarnason, Becker (Bauer 70), Horvath, Ricardo, Battista, Jankowski

A much tighter game than I would have liked as I returned to the Audi Sportpark with Thomas Golemis bagging a rare goal

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FIRST KNOCKOUT ROUND SECOND LEG
AS Roma 0-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach
Borussia Mönchengladbach win 5-3 on aggregate
View attachment 97955
Bender, Jehl, Christensen, Jalali, Golemis (Neumeister 80), Bjarnason, Becker (Bauer 68), Horvath, Ricardo, Battista, Jankowski

GET IN THERE! A top performance from our front three in the second half put Roma o the sword as we dominated the Italian giants to book passage into the quarter finals

BUNDESLIGA
Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-0 Borussia Dortmund

View attachment 97954
Bender, Jehl, Christensen, Armstrong, Golemis, Bjarnason, Becker, Horvath, Ricardo (Bauer 51), Battista, Jankowski

The Borussen derby was over in 21 minutes as we taught Borussia Dortmund a footballing lesson and played them off the park before resting on our laurels for the remainder of the game

BUNDESLIGA
Hamburger SV 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach

View attachment 97953
Bender, Jehl, Christensen, Jalali, Golemis, Bjarnason, Becker (Kondogbia 74), Horvath, Bauer (Emmerich 62), Battista, Jankowski

A win here would have put us top as Wolfsburg lost to Leverkusen and we almost had a win too, only for Battista to miss a sitter before they went up the other end and scored a worldie

PSG win 5-0 on aggregate
View attachment 97909

Sexy football in the capital sees Borussia Mönchengladbach clinch their first title since 1977!

23rd of June 2029The Bundesliga trophy really is beautiful, isn't it? Its not like the Premier League or Champions League or any other football trophy I can think of for that matter, its a shield, and its a beautiful one at that.

I've barely comedown from the celebrations of our stunning title win and I'm already back to work. I don't want this to be a one-off, I want Borussia Mönchengladbach to become a true powerhouse of German and, eventually, European football, and the only way to do that is through planning and hard work

I want Mönchengladbach to become synonymous with the most famous names in German football, for people to think of us before Munich or Dortmund and for us, in time, to become synonymous with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester United et al

But first, we need to consolidate this. Fortunately my aversion to signing older players will stand us in good stead for the coming years as key players such as top goalscorer Thorsten Jankowski (32 goals in 33 league games), playmaker Alexander Becker and goalkeeper Niclas Bender are 24, 23 and 24 respectively. Unfortunately I know my rivals will strengthen, Dotmund, Munich, **** even Schalke and Wolfsburg are embarrassed by Mönchengladbach sealing their first title since 1977 so we need to be ready for them.

This season, however, we will be backed by young talent, Germany's ridiculous rule of not allowing players 17 and under from playing will no longer effect some of our bright sparks like Daniel Bauer, Joaquin de Paz, Joe Oppong and Nico Ritter so we will have some solid, young backup this year

This year is about not just consolidation, but improvement. I want more than 1 trophy this season

was wondering whether you'd still want to keep going with these or maybe jump ship now you have finally got the title. will be good to see how you continue to progress from here

It all depends on the jobs that come available to be honest

DEFENSIVE REINFORCEMENTS AT GLADBACH

View attachment 97632

Bundesliga champions Borussia Mönchengladbach have made a huge statement, bringing in 2 players for a combined fee of €64m

Mönchengladbach have long been seen as an irresistible side going forward, scoring 75 goals last season but Hawkins is said to be disappointed with his defence, despite them conceding only 27 goals last season, the second lowest total in the Bundesliga. This spending is thought to be a reaction their 1-0 DFB-Supercup loss to Red Bull Leipzig

The first player brought in was Helder Gomes, who's been brought in from Benfica for an initial fee of €30m

Gomes, 25, is seen as one of the world's best centre backs and the Portuguese has the trophies to back that up, winning both the World Cup and Confederations Cup with his country

Gomes started his career at Olympiakos, making 60 league appearances over the course 3 seasons before joining Benfica for €28m, making 143 league appearances for the Lisbon club

The next signing was made closer to home, with Mönchengladbach signing Wolfsburg left-back Tom Franchino for €34m

The 24 year old American, who has 71 caps for his country, started his career at LA Galaxy before joining Hamburg in 2020

Franchino made just 1 league appearance for Hamburg before being snapped up by Wolfsburg for €23.5m where he made 193 league appearances over a period of 7 years, making his Wolfsburg appearance at 18 and immediately becoming a staple at the Wolfsburg Stadium

GLADBACH BRING IN TWO
View attachment 97548

Borussia Mönchengladbach have continued their transfer moves by bringing in two players to bolster their squad ahead of their European and domestic campaigns as Gladbach look to defend their Bundesliga title

The first player to be brought in was Welsh striker Ben Woodburn, who's joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from rivals Borussia Dortmund for €4.4m

Woodburn, 29, had had a varied caareer since breaking onto the scene at Liverpool, spending time at MK Dons, Wolves, Cardiff, Burnley, Rangers, Hertha Berlin and Borussia Dortmund before joining Gladbach

The Welsh international, who has 24 goals in 61 caps, has scored 82 goals in 252 appearances in his career, with his most fruitful period coming in Scotland where he scored 30 league goals in 73 league appearances for Rangers

The second player to come in was Ivano Dona who's joined Gladbach from Club Brugge for €5m

The Italian has come in to provide backup for the likes of Alexander Becker and Jonas Bjarnason in the midfield and the Under 21 international has left Belgium for that reason

The 28 year old, who has 207 league games worth of experience with the likes of Juventus, Fiorentina, Feyenoord, Brugge, Sampdoria as well as others is expected to bring experience to this young Gladbach squad

BIG SALES AT GLADBACH

View attachment 97461

Borussia Park has today been rocked by the news of the club's record sale as the Bundesliga champions have sold star winger Louis Mabyo to Borussia Dortmund for €65m

Mbayo, 25, joined Gladbach from Köln on a free transfer in 2027 and enjoyed a sparkling first season with the club, scoring 12 goals and bagging 14 assists in 33 appearances

However a change of formation saw Mbayo's chances limited last season as he returned a measly 2 goals and 6 assists in 16 appearances last season

The German international was not content to sit on a bench and forced through a move to Gladbach's Borussen rivals

He's joined Aaron Armstrong (Middlesbrough €5m), Marcos Abisab (Frankfurt €5m), Alan Baiano (Arminia Bielfeld €400,000) and Bocary Oulare (Mainz €3m) on the "Outs" list as well as a host of loanees including Michael Neumeister, Marco Emmerich and Julian Oczipka
