View attachment 100387
Andreas Christensen has today returned to Borussia Mönchengladbach after 10 straight seasons at Chelsea, joining Gladbach for €25.5m

Chritensen, 31, made 57 Bundesliga appearances over two seasons at Mönchengladbach, before going on to make 355 league appearances for Chelsea becoming a legend at Stamford Bridge

The 31 year old is also a legend in his homeland, making 87 appearances for Denmark

GLADBACH BOARD BREAK BANK

View attachment 100341

The Borussia Mönchengladbach board, yes you read that right BOARD, have today completed a club record signing as they've brought in right wing back Cedrid Jehl for a fee of €52m

Jehl, 26, has been signed on a 4 year deal worth in excess of €200,000 per week as the Gladbach board have become twitchy following the side's poor start

Despite a 4-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the DFB Super Cup and progression in the DFB-Pokal, Gladbach have fared poorly in the league, beating Hertha Belrin 2-0 but also losing 4-1 and 2-0 to Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen. A start that has left the side 14th in the Bundesliga

Jehl has been brought in from Napoli to shore up the Gladbach right flank

Despite this bank breaking figure, Gladbach have still made a profit on transfers this season as they have sold €143m worth of players

These deals include Jonathan Biberoglu to Bayern Munich (€64m), Martino Manzi to Monaco (€25m), Brice Lafon to Wolfsburg (€30m), Agenor Galiardo to FC Metz (€11.25m) and Marius Altenau to Hertha Berlin for 8.25m among others

Been away for a few days mate and just saw the cruel twist against Hoffenhiem! Can't believe 3 goals were scored in added time! I thought it was all yours after your spanked Dortmund! This season!

I'm still not over it :'(

To be honest, I bottled it against Bayern and shut up shop when we went 2-1 up, bad decision.

GLADBACH'S POOR START CONTINUES
View attachment 100079

Last year's last gasp disappointment at the hands of Bayern Munich still appears to be affecting Borussia Mönchengladbach's players as they fail to capture last season's form this term

Mönchengladbach currently find themselves in 11th place in the league heading into October as they slumped to defeat against Schalke and struggled to draw against Frankfurt

Gladbach's two victories, both 1-0 wins against Ingolstadt and Hoffenheim will have offered scant consolation to Mönchengladbach manager Matthew Hawkins, with fans already calling for the Welshman's head

GLADBACH SELL DUO

View attachment 99705View attachment 1109712

Bundesliga title challengers Borussia Mönchengladbach have today announced the departure of two players, Manuel Chan and Morten Franz, for a combined total of €45m

The first to leave was Mexican midfielder Manuel Chan, who's joined Guangzhou Evergrande for a fee of €20m

Chan, 21, joined Gladbach two years ago for €8m but made only 17 league appearances for the club, with just 2 being starts

The Mexican international had become frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities and has now moved on to China, where he is earning a reported €275,000

The second player to leave was defender Morten Franz, who's joined Red Bull Leipzig for €25m

Franz, who came through the Gladbach youth system, made only 22 league appearances for his boyhood club before moving on to Leipzig

These deals have come midway through the winter break with Gladbach lying fifth in the league

GLADBACH SIGN MIDFIELD DUO

View attachment 99634

Borussia Mönchengladbach have today announced the arrival of two HUGE signings as they pursue their first Bundesliga title since 1977

First up is playmaker Alexander Becker, who's joined Gladbach from Marseilles for a WHOPPING €30m

Becker, 22, has been a long term target of Gladbach and Hawkins, and with the Austrian unsettled at Marseilles, Gladbach saw this as the time to strike

Becker, who's scored 7 goals in 37 games for his country, caught the eye last season as he provided a massive 23 assists in 38 games as Marseilles ran PSG close for the title
View attachment 99626

Next up is wonderkid Imre Hovrath, who's joined for €22m from PSV Eindhoven

Hovrath, 20, has drawn compliments for his dynamic midfield displays since breaking onto the scene at KSC Lokeren in Belgium and has since made 85 league appearances for Lokeren and PSV

He is also ever present for his country, making 23 appearances for Hungary despite his tender age and is said to be looking forward to learning from Jonas Bjarnason at Gladbach

Safely through into the knockouts

Well done on getting out of that Champions League group. Two big signings look very good

15th of March 2028Today I will take part in my first ever UEFA Champions League First Knockout Round Second Leg as a manager and I'm not nervous at all. That's probably because we're already out.

In what has been a fairly poor season for us at Borussia Mönchengladbach as we continue to struggle in the league despite good form since the winter break and being knocked out of the DFB-Pokal, the Champions League has offered some light in the darkness

It has given us some great nights, like the 6-1 victory over Zagreb and the 1-0 wins over Juventus and Arsenal, some top matches in a decent run that is bout to end at the hands of one of the world's greatest ever teams

They aren't of the level of Barcelona that I grew up watching under Pep Guardiola, but they are still a ****** good team and they proved that by ending the tie at Borussia Park with a 3-0 victory, leaving us out in all but name, and leaving our 11 men tonight with a thankless task. Damage limitation.

We've gone with the same 4-3-3 and are playing the following: Bender, Christensen, Jalali, Jehl, Weigl, Golemis, Becker, Ricardo, Mendez, Mbayo, Torin

20 or so minutes in and we're doing well, we've had the lion's share of possession and created a couple of chances, if Torin could finish we'd be 2-0 up by now, oh they've won the ball, oh they've pumped it long aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand its 1-0. Typical.

This happened a few more times throughout the 90 minutes. Barcelona smashing the ball over our defence and pouncing, it finished 4-0, 7-0 on aggregate. Embarrassing.

HAWKINS FAVOURITE FOR UNITED JOB

View attachment 99158
It hasn't taken long for rampant speculation over the identity of the next Manchester United manager following the sacking of Massimiliano Allegri to kick off and many bookmakers and punters have come up with one name: Matthew Hawkins

Hawkins, who's declined to comment on the speculation, has been ranked as the favourite by many UK bookies and some have even stopped taking bets on the 31 year old Welshman becoming the next boss at Old Trafford

Hawkins, who's endured what he believes is a "disappointing" season with Borussia Mönchengladbach as they finished 4th, will be out of contract in the summer which adds an extra layer of availability to one of the brightest managerial prospects in the world

Taking over at Manchester United will surely cap off what has been a meteoric rise for the Welshman as it is only 12 years ago he took his first managerial job, at Loughgall in Northern Ireland

HAWKINS MAKES HIS DECISION

View attachment 98984

Matthew Hawkins has ended weeks of speculation linking him with the Manchester United job by putting pen to paper on a four year contract with his current employers, Borussia Mönchengladbach

The 32 year old, who's original deal was going to run out in a week's time, rejected the approaches of the Red Devils, stating "Why would I want to manage them?", stating he was "perfectly happy in Germany"

Hawkins has already started preparations for next season, selling goalkeeper Mirco Cavicchioli to Roma for €18m as well as releasing Julian Weigl and Emre Can, who are yet to find clubs

He has also brought in one player, with Mönchengladbach old boy Mohammad Dahoud joining the club
