FC Heidenheim 1-4 Borussia Mönchengladbach

View attachment 97444
Bender, Christensen, Gomes, Jalali, Franchino, Bjarnason, Becker, Horvath (Oppong 59), Ricardo, Battista, Jankowski (Woodburn 69)
Giuliano Battista take a bow! An incredible start to the season for the Italian international as he smashes in 4 pat a hapless Heidenheim goalkeeper

BUNDESLIGA

View attachment 97443
Bender, Jehl (Oppong 67), Gomes, Jalali, Franchino, Horvath, Becker (Christensen 82), Bjarnason, Ricardo, Battista, Jankowski (Woodburn 59)

It looks like Thorsten Jankowski and Giuliano Battista have a little competition going already as Jankowski smashed home a hat-trick to kick off the Bundesliga campaign! Nice to see Franchino bag his first goal for the club

BUNDESLIGA
Eintracht Frankfurt 0-2 Borussia Mönchengladbach

Bender, Jehl, Gomes, Jalali, Franchino, Bjarnason, Becker (Dona 74), Horvath, Ricardo (Bauer 58), Battista, Jankowski (Woodburn 58)

Frankfurt have scored 135 goals over the past two seasons (Only 4 less than us) so to keep one of Germany's most attacking teams quiet for a whole 90 minutes is very pleasing

Bender, Jehl, Gomes, Jalali, Franchino (Golemis 68), Bjarnason, Becker (Schaf 68), Horvath, Ricardo, Jankowski, Woodburn

Ben Woodburn has done exactly what I wanted since joining from Dortmund, coming in and doing a job and bagging a few goals and that's what he did today, deputising for Giuliano Battista

BUNDESLIGA
Borussia Mönchengladbach 3-1 Augsburg
View attachment 97290

LIVERPOOL SIGN BATTISTA
View attachment 1112451

Liverpool have today announced the signing of Italian striker Giuliano Battista from Borussia Mönchengladbach for a fee of €74m

The Reds, who currently sit in 5th in the Premier League, have decided to throw money at their problems as they matched the Italian international's release clause

Battista, who joined Gladbach for €18.75m, was an integral part of the German club's successful title challenge last season and scored 20 goals in 57 league appearances for Borussia Mönchengladbach

Gladbach have enjoyed a solid start to their title defence and they currently sit 6 points clear top the Bundesliga as they head into the winter break

WONDERKIDS GALORE AT GLADBACH

View attachment 97233

Borussia Mönchengladbach have today kicked off their January spending by announcing the signings of an extraordinary 7 players for a combined fee of €16.8m!

The "Gladbach 7" have an average of just 16! With 5 being 16, 1 17 year old and the other being just 15!

The vast majority of the acquisitions hail from Spain, with 15 year old Michael Birk being the only German signed, coming in from Werder Bremen for €4.3m

The other all hail from Spain, with 2 joining from Valencia, Salvador Carrasco (€2.5m) and Josep Martinez (€2m), Edgar Gomez coming from Real Valladolid (€1.4m), Andres Mas from Villarreal (€1.4m), Adrian Reina from Sevilla (€950,000) and Kepa Pareda from RCD Espanyol (€4.2m)

In other news, Borussia Mönchengladbach have drawn Manchester United in the next round of the Champions League, having finished second in their group behind Arsenal

PADILLA JOINS GLADBACH

View attachment 97147
Bourssia Mönchengladbach have today announced the signing of Ernesto Padilla from Manchester City for a fee of €45m

Gladbach, who of course lost star striker Giuliano Battista to Liverpool earlier in the week, have been praised for their quick action in replacing the Italian

The Spaniard, who joined Manchester City from Levante for just €1.8m, had made 62 appearances across 3 different leagues despite being just 22 years old

The striker never managed to break into the first team and instead scored 16 goals in 32 games for Metz on a loan spell, his only successful season to date
View attachment 97146

February was an action packed month for us here at Gladbach as we smashed a couple of teams, draw with United and got completely mugged off by Bayern Munich and Schalke

Against Bayern we had 20 shots (including a missed penalty), they had 3. Against Schalke we had 27 shots, they had 9. Anyway, lets not dwell on that

We managed to get a very creditable draw against United with a very defensive 4-1-3-2 and I think we'll use that at Old Trafford

Other than that there was a ridiculous 6-3 win against Werder Bremen and a 5-0 and 3-0 win over rivals Köln. Roll on March.

I've learned my lesson from Champions League hammerings gone by and went with a defensive 4-1-3-2 away here at Old Trafford and boy did it work! We soaked up pressure and unleashed lethal counter attacks, with 17 year old holding midfielder Joaquin De Paz bagging his first ever professional goal

Wow, great result against Utd. "Joaquin De Paz" is still probably my favourite regen name from the past few versions... sounds like a minor Bond villain from the 80s films.

I quite like the idea of creating the next Bayern and I want to see how far the youngsters at the club can go

But then again, if the right job comes available...
