Franz definitely looks more like a centre half with technical like that... both should be great signings though. Target for the season?
Franz is probably only going to play there if we can't sign anyone else

We're going for the Champions League (H)

MAGPIES BAG MIDFIELD REINFORCEMENTS
View attachment 95357
Newcastle United have today unveiled their two latest signings as the hunt a Champions League finish this season

The Magpies have signed one player permanently and have brought one in on loan as Matthew Hawkins looks to bolster his squad ahead of a long season

First up, the permanent signing, with the Magpies bringing in a familiar face, signing Joaquin De Paz from Borussia Mönchengladbach for fee of £22m

De Paz, 20, of course spent last season on loan at St James' Park, making 31 league appearances as the Magpies achieved an 8th placed finish

De Paz, a Spanish Under 21 international despite being born in Erfstadt, Germany, came through the ranks at Borussia Mönchengladbach and seemed to have a burgeoning career in the Rheinland until Hawkins' departure, which saw him and many youth prospects shifted out on loan

The second signing announced was that of Hugh Bowers, who's joined Newcastle on loan from Norwich City

Bowers, 23, has made 164 league appearances across 6 different clubs, with the Northern Ireland international appearing for Derry City, Sligo Rovers, Norwich, Aberdeen, Ross County and Inverness

The 17 time Northern Ireland international has been brought in to help ease fitness issues in the midfield as the Magpies prepare for the Europa League, having easily dispatched of FC Midtjylland 7-1 on aggregate in the Third Qualifying Round

Newcastle United have continued to add to their options in midfield right to the end of the transfer window as they have announced the signing of Tom Cadmore on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season

Cadmore, 20, came through the ranks at United but is yet to make a first team appearance for the Reds, instead spending time on loan at Celtic, Derby County and Brighton

Cadmore's loan caps off a busy transfer window for Newcastle which saw 6 players arrive and 10 players leave

A solid start

Hello been reading this from last night and have to say this is now one of the best Career update I have ever read for FM17.
Right from the first post you have me captivated and then all those losses at Gladbach where you lost the title to Bayern on the last day made the Game more interesting. Just that you rejecting my Father's Club was something I definitely didnt appreciate. :P
Anyways All the very best at Newcastle and maybe someday you get to takeover at my Club eventually.

Solid start going good. Whats the overall hopes for the season?

View attachment 94553

Newcastle United will be going into the new year in fine spirits as the self-proclaimed "Kings of the North East" sit in the Champions League qualification spots following an impressive December

The Magpies have soared up the league table following 5 Premier League wins from 7 games, only faltering against Spurs and Man City who both beat Newcastle 1-0

The 5 wins have included a 3-1 win at Liverpool, 4-1 against Stoke, 3-1 against Burnley, 2-0 against Norwich, 1-0 against Leicester and a 4-1 away to Aston Villa

The Magpies have also secured their place in the League Cup Semi Finals where the will play Manchester United, having beaten Brentford 2-0

TRIO JOIN MAGPIES AS THEY EYE EUROPA CROWN
View attachment 1115679

Newcastle United have today announced the signing of 3 players for a total of £6.7m

The first player brought into the club was also the most expensive with left-back Eric Kone joining for £4.2m

Kone, 18, has joined the Magpies from Torino for a total of £4.2m, with the Ivorian to become the understudy of Safet Seferovic following Alex Agu's sale to Kuban Krasnodar for £5m

Kone, who has been included in Ivory Coast's African Cup of Nations squad, made 18 league appearances for Torino where he lifted the Serie B title last summer
View attachment 94374

The second signing was that of John Jackson from Aberdeen for a fee of £2.2m

Jackson, also 18, came through the ranks at Aberdeen and made 18 appearances for his hometown clbu across 3 seasons as well as making appearances for Scotland at Under 20 level
View attachment 94373

And last but not least is Aylut Deniz, who's joined Newcastle from fellow Premier League side Brighton for £300,0000

Deniz, 24, has been brought in following an injury sustained by number 1 goalkeeper Adam Barnett which will keep him out of action for at least 4 months

This is the second time Hawkins has signed Deniz, with Hawkins signing the then teenager for FC Ingolstadt from Eintracht Braunschweig for £115,000

Deniz was released this summer having made only 3 league appearances for Die Schanzer

These signing have been made to bolster Newcastle's chances in the Europa League, having been drawn against AS Saint-Etienne in the First Knockout Round after topping their group with a 100% record

Looking good for the Champions league mate. Quite a few goals in those cups games there, 22 goals in 3 cups games, then a comfy 2-0 win in the final!

Looks like 2032/3 St Etienne are like 2016/7 Monaco! Great job on the cup win. On a separate note, I've just noticed how awful Newcastle's badge is. Gold, sky blue and grey... blech. And sea horses? Why?
