1st of February 2036I'm really good at picking nice places to manage. Edinburgh's a great city and I've been fortunate to manage in many beautiful places such as Dublin and Bavaria, but I'm not a tour guide, I'm a football manager and there is football to be managed

First off transfers I've made some. I've sold reserve goalkeeper Aidan Rowley to Newcaastle for £75,000, winger Christian Phillips to Kilmarnock for £150,000 and Grant Murray to Bohemian for a fee that starts at £74,000 and has the potential to rise to £130,000

This brought in much needed cash and I brought in 5 players, 1 for a fee, 1 on loan and 3 for free. I'm now a poet, apparently.

First up, Erwin Payares on loan from Stoke, he's a midfielder, we needed midfielders, he needed a club. Perfect, get in the van my son

Next up the frees. Fraser Robertson came in as midfield backup, Sebastien Girard as attacking backup and Hawkins old boy Aaron Armstrong came in as defensive backup. Bish. Bash. Bosh

And last but certainly not least, Mark Millar. Mark spent 8 years at Hibs before being sold to Aberdeen 2 or 3 years ago for £125,000. We've brought the box-to-box maestro back for a snip at £105,000. He's already made 171 league appearances for the club and should know the club inside out
In between all these transfer shenanigans were these things called "football matches", four of them, I hadn't encountered these in some time, but we did well. Surprisingly well in fact.

We faced Aberdeen in the first game, kept it tight at the back and sprung late on to bag a 2-0 win, we then swatted aside the **** Dundee 4-2 at their place, before two disappointing 0-0 draws away at Partick Thistle and Inverness, ah well. No home games, 7 points and good performances? I'll take that

HIBS SNEAK THROUGH IN FIFTH ROUND
View attachment 1122755

Hibernian have today secured their place in the Scottish Cup Quarter Final after squeezing past Ayr United 1-0 in a replay

Hibs, who sneaked into the fifth round following another replay in the fourth round have been dealt fortunate draws on their cup run, and will face Greenock Morton in the next round

This comes at the end of what has been a good month for the Edinburgh club, winning 3 of their 4 league games, dropping points in a 2-0 loss to lowly Hamilton Academical

This winning run included a stunning 2-0 victory over Celtic as well as a 1-0 home win against Raith and a 2-0 win against Ross County

These results have left Hibs 7th in the league and with a Scottish Cup Quarter Final on the horizon, there appears to be some Sunshine on Leith after all

Hibs have qualified for their first Scottish Cup final since their heartbreak against Hearts in 2031 with a comfortable 3-0 win over Motherwell in the semi final

Hibs will face Rangers in the final, with the Glaswegians having dispatched Celtic 1-0 in a fierce match

The final will take place 6 days after the Championship group ends, with both Hibs and Rangers having finished in the Top 6

Rangers will be going into the final hoping to complete a potential double whilst Hibs will have their eyes firmly on Europe after reaching the top 6 despite losing 3-2 to cross city rivals Hearts with a 2-0 win over Aberdeen

30th of June 2035
Only half a season into my new job and I'm back in love with football again. I don't want to belittle my new employers, however they are nowhere near the scale of my last two clubs, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Newcastle, and that's the way I like it. The club are far less corporate, aren't controlled by busybodies in suits who try to explain to me, a Champions League winner, how football works. **** off.

With Hibs there is a tangible connection to the fans, winning helps, but they're still a whole lot closer to me than the Geordies were and I'm back living amongst the fans having sold up and moved on up to Leith, the home of Hibs. We're in Europe, the Scottish Cup holders and have a very bright future, and a lot of money

One problem, the squad needs a lot of work

We relied a lot on loans last season; George Field, Erwin Payares, Robert Martinka, Akeene Grosvenor and a few rotational options were all loanees last season, with them returning to their parent clubs it meant the squad was threadbare, however it also offered a huge opportunity as it allowed me to see exactly what was needed

I decided we needed a few things: a new midfield, a left back and two strikers, I drank a fair bit after winning the Scottish Cup but I got to work immediately after the hangover

First things first I got going on sorting out the midfield, we lacked a truly defensive midfielder last season and to rectify that I brought in Andy Davidson from Dundalk for £650,000. Sure he's not a big name, has all the flair and creativity of Vinnie Jones and couldn't dribble past a statue but the Ireland Under-21 international fills a specific role and does it well

We then filled in the playmaker spot by bringing in Christopher Findlay from Ross County for £1.3m. Findlay, like Davidson, is Irish, but Findlay is a full international, with the Scots-born midfielder having made his debut against Germany 3 years ago. Christopher is creative, can pass the ball and has great technique. He also knows the league well, having made 133 league appearances for Ross County

Next up, left back, last season we had Robert Martinka on loan from Brentford and when I saw him on the transfer list for a measly £550,000 I knew I had to pick him up

Martinka is 24, knows the league and the club inside out having made 105 league appearances over a period of 3 loan spells at Hibs, he could work on his attacking output but his core attributes are there, I like him

Last but not lest, Johannes Radschuweit. 18 years old, German, attacker from Bayer Leverkusen for a club record fee of £6m (rising dependent on goals and appearances). He's great, I can't believe we signed him, no release fee as well, cracking.

HIBS WELCOME FOUR
View attachment 87755

Hibernian would like to announce the signing of four players, all of whom have joined the club today

The players in question are; Ben Foley, Christopher Holland, Kenzo Santiago and Elliott Parker

Goalkeeper Foley is arguable the highest profile of the acquisitions, with the 24 year old having joined from Everton on a free transfer

The Leeds-born stopper made 8 appearances for the Merseyside club, as well 25 on loan at Wigan Athletic. With 7 England Under 21 caps to his name, Foley will be a great addition to the squad

Next up another free transfer in Christopher Holland

Nottinghamshire lad Holland has worked with Hibs boss Matthew Hawkins before, with his new boss awarding the attacking midfielder his first ever professional contract with Newcastle United

Unfortunately for the 20 year old things never worked out for him with the Magpies and he was released this summer

The last of the free transfers was Kenzo Santiago, with the 20 year old French midfielder joining Hibs on a free following the expiration of his contract with AS Monaco

The Frenchman, who made 18 appearances for Stade Lavallois in Ligue 2 last season, will provide backup to Andy Davidson in the Hibs engine room

Last but not least is Welsh international Elliott Parker, who's joined from Bristol City for a fee of £975,000

Parker, who worked with Hawkins at St Patrick's and Newcastle United, has gained the manager's trust over the years with Hawkins labelling the Wrexham-born midfielder the "last piece in the puzzle"

The 95 time Wales international is a somewhat controversial figure amongst Hibs fans, however, with the Welshman having made 82 appearances for fierce rivals Hearts

LAVERY JOINS BLUEBIRDS
View attachment 87637

Cardiff City have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Jon Lavery from Hibernian for a fee of £2.2m

Lavery, 23, made 30 league appearances for Hibs last season, scoring 4 and lifting the Scottish Cup under Cardiff-born manager Matthew Hawkins

Lavery made 94 appearances for the Scottish cub after joining them from Falkirk for £1.2m in 2032, scoring 12

Hibs have already put their new funds to good use, signing right-back Derek O'Connor on a free transfer and striker Patrick Tavares from Tottenham on loan

HAWKINS: I WANT TO BUILD SOMETHING
View attachment 1123221

Hibernian boss Matthew Hawkins has told journalists that he: "wants to build something" with current club Hibernian

Hawkins, 39, told journalists that he was at the age where he wants to "settle down" and said that "Edinburgh was the perfect city to do that in"

Hawkins: "I want to build something, I'm reaching the stage in my life where I need to settle down and Edinburgh is the perfect city to do that in"

"I want to build something here and leave a legacy for years to come, I want Hibs to be mentioned alongside Celtic and Rangers as the biggest Scottish cubs worldwide"

"I'm not content with a Scottish Cup win, I want more, I want a league title and European nights at Easter Road"

Hawkins was speaking ahead of Hibs' first home game of September against Ross County, having endured a poor September, losing 2 of their 4 league games

I don't recall it being mentioned or not, but Kevin is your assistant manager, right? He's the real star of this story...

Just read through the whole thing over the past couple days, really good story and you don't half seem to be a fan of the dramatic twist.

But, how dare you call any cup run where you had to face Morton as easy, Morton are easily one of the best teams in the world if you only count teams where the goalkeeper is also a lifeguard

Cheers mate :)

The keeper is a lifeguard? I take it all back, that's awesome!
