Kayne and co. struggle to enter stride

Since taking over Roma Kanye West and the Roma boys haven't hit form as of such. While Mr West is known for spending his money on flash cars and all sorts of things, he hasn't been to generous to bring in big star players. With only the likes of Alex Sandro and Thiago Motta joining the side.

Roma are currently in 9th place which is very much below expectations from fans and media. They have only managed 4 wins over 12 games sitting with 16 points!

With 1 month away from the January window to be opened, fans are hoping to keep their star players away from the likes of Man Utd and Man City due to rumours on both clubs keeping an eye on Miralem Pjanic and Kevin Strootman. Should the club cash in on both players and buy other players with the money they receive or keep the stars and hope for the best?

Kanye will want his team to improve after the winter break either it to be with new players he brings in or to keep his trust with the players and manager he currently has and hope for good results.

Steady start for the Bianconeri

Vincenzo Iaquinta will be nothing short of satisfied with his clubs start to the league campaign. After only bringing in youth players in the first window, the club are sitting 7th in Serie A. Being above the media prediction from the start of the season can only be pleasing for the fans. The only downside is probably the lack of goals coming from the Friulli. Legendary striker Antonio Di Natale and back up striker Alex Geijo are the top scorers with 4 a piece. This is something that Iaquinta is rumoured to be interested in changing in the up and coming January transfer window.

In terms of players available, He said everyone is fighting for their positions but he wants to keep influential captain Di Natale and young Goalkeeper Simone Scuffet who seems to be blossoming into a superb player.

Vincenzo is urging all managers to send enquiries for his players as he looks to strengthen his team for a push on the european places.

Enter Spalletti

Hellas Verona have had a topsy-turvy time under new Chairman Mauro Camoranesi.

Despite receiving the vote of confidence five games into the season having picked up two points, Andrea Mandorlini bit the bullet after game six, losing 2-1 at home to Juventus in a game where Verona were arguably the better side. A poor goalkeeping display from Rafael and a good one from Gianluigi Buffon was the difference between the two sides. Verona took 12 shots compared to Juventus' 7, but the quality of goalkeepers (and finishers) was decisive and Mandorlini was harshly gone, despite picking up two creditable draws in the two games prior to this defeat.

Camoranesi took two weeks during the International break to make his appointment, and it was a blockbuster one. Luciano Spalletti arrived as new manager, his last job in Italy being with A.S. Roma in 2009. Spalletti has more recently enjoyed a four year spell at Russian giants Zenit St. Petersburg, where he won 2 Russian Premier League titles, 1 Russian Cup and 1 Russian Super Cup. His last piece of silverware was won in 2012, leading Zenit to sacking Spalletti in March 2014.

Spalletti's first game in charge came the day after his appointment, and he changed the side from Mandorlini's defensive looking 4-3-3 to a more attacking 4-2-3-1 formation. This did not bare immediate fruit, with his side gaining a respectable away point against Udinese at the Friuli in a 0-0 draw.

The following game was Spalletti's first home game was against Cesena, a winnable game for sure. The game finished 1-1, with Emil Hallfredsson scoring the first goal of the Spalletti era to equalise for Verona. It was a game with even possession but Verona outshot their opponents 13 to 6. Similar to the Juventus game, the difference was the goalkeepers. Rafael was again extremely poor meanwhile Nicola Leali won man of the match in the Cesena goalposts.

Unbeaten in two games, Spalletti faced a big test coming up against Napoli at San Paolo. Napoli started the game in 7th with Verona in 19th. Napoli produced a strong performance, dominating the midfield and possession (58%), yet still contrived to lose the game 1-0. Henrique received a second yellow for the home side in the 63rd minute, and then Napoli went down to nine men after their goalkeeper Rafael was injured in the 67th minute, and they had used all three substitutions! With an outfield player in goal and only nine men on the pitch, Napoli began to regret not taking advantage of their dominance in the first hour of the game, and Juanito Gomez inevitably scored against the nine men of Naples, and Verona went on to win 1-0.

Spalletti unbeaten in three, yet still not convincing in their performances, the next opponents were Atalanta, who arrived just one place ahead in the table in 15th. It was an even and very attacking game and Atalanta earned the point they left with after a 2-2 draw. Verona twice came from behind via goals from Bosko Jankovic and Juanito Gomez.

Unbeaten in four, albeit only one win, but the Spalletti juggernaut had picked up 6 points from a possible 12, and up next for Verona was Empoli. Empoli, the newly promoted club, were having a great season up in mid table, and were confident going into the game as the home side. Little did they know how easy it would be for them though, clocking in a 4-0 victory over Verona, with Francesco Tavano, the 35 year old striker who hasn't played in Serie A since 2010 when he scored just four goals in 24 games, scoring a hattrick. Tavano, like many other Italian strikers in recent times (Di Natale, Luca Toni of Verona) has produced his best goalscoring records after the age of 30, and he showed no signs of slowing down now he's back in the big time.

So a first loss for Spalletti, and the last game of November produced the second loss of the Spalletti reign, a respectable 2-1 home loss to Lazio, with goalkeeper Rafael again to blame!

Spalletti's honeymoon period has come to an end, yes he has only lost two games of six, but he has also only picked up one third of the available points (6 from 18). The goalkeeper Rafael has too often been the deciding factor in games, and January will no doubt see him replaced. With second choice goalkeeper Francesco Benussi still out with a broken hand, the question is how many more points will Rafael cost Verona until then?
