6_316_FULL_akinfeev-b.jpg

After being told by the board that he had a gigantic transfer budget of £61 million to win the league again, Daniel Oakes went out and bought a new goalkeeper. Igor Akinfeev joins West Ham on a four year deal until 2017. West Ham paid just under £30 million for his signature. It is believed that West Ham veteran Robert Green may now be out of the door.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am delighted with my signing of Igor as I believe that is the only real position we needed strengthening within the squad. He will be a great capture for us.

Robinho and Poli join on frees

It is that time of year when contracts expire and clubs lose some of their valued players. Two of these players joined the Premier League champions today. Robinho rejected Manchester City's latest contract offer and looked forward to pastures new as he signed a deal on £75,000 a week at Upton Park. It is believed he has taken a fifty per cent pay cut to join the Champions. Andrea Poli also joined the squad and satated that he was delighted at the new challenge.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am very happy with the quality of players we managed to sign on a free this season. Robinho has made a name for himself at giants Real Madrid but somewhat failed here in England. We will look to revive his career. Andrea is a very good young player and he will only improve in his time here.

Cardozo leaves Upton Park

Today, West Ham have sold 30 year old striker Oscar Cardozo to German side Wolfsburg for £7.5 million. Cardozo leaves after a decent spell at Upton Park. He made 84 appearances and scored 33 goals. However Daniel Oakes said that replacements were being looked at.

Love Cardozo on FM, but i'm sure you can find a younger replacement for him. Love this story mate.

West Ham have today completed the signings of two very young players from Dortmund and Porto for a combined fee of £29.5 million. Daniel Vogel and Oliveira join the Premier League champions and are both believed to have great careers ahead of them. Oliveira scored 27 goals in 35 appearances for Porto and Daniel Vogel scored 23 goals in 30 at Young Boys and then 18 in 30 at Dortmund so Oakes has his reasons for buying these two youngsters.

In what may be considered an upset, Saudi Arabia got a draw with Daniel Oakes' Belgium side in this friendly tonight. It could have been far more embarassing for Oakes however as the Saudi's went 2-0 up but Belgium ended up doing enough for the draw.

League Table

Daniel Oakes said:
I am a little disappointed that we have already lost two games in this season, but we have had some tricky games so far. We lie only fifth in the league and Chelsea wont be easy to catch but it is possible. We need to keep our heds down and keep playing well and things will fall into place.

Player of the Month

Daniel Oakes said:
My player of the month goes to our new free transfer signing Robinho. He has not scored the most but he has been our standout performer so far. He also looks like an outstanding free signing and I am delighted that I took the risk with him. Robinho scored three and assisted three goals in these two months. Special notice must also go to our new youngsters, Oliveira and Daniel Vogel who have both started well, scoring nine goals between them.
