Fellaini goal sees Belgium through

A 25th minute strike from Marouane Fellaini was enough to see Daniel Oakes' Belgium to a fantastic win over Spain in the final group game. Belgium led early on and held on strongly for the win.

The win over Spain ensures that Belgium have now qualified for the 2014 World Cup by winning the group. What comes as a shock is that Spain failed to qualify and that will hit the Spaniards hard.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am absolutely delighted how I have started as Belgium manager. The first duty was to make sure this team got to the World Cup and I am delighted to have done this in such impressive fashion. Every player has played their part but none more so than Kevin Mirallas, who has scored 6 goals in qualifying and also Matias Suarez, who has scored 5 in just 4 caps.

Congrats. Great achievement with the National team. Is Nainggolan playing for you there?

He is indeed, my midfield lineup is immense. When everyone is fit I have Kompany at DMC, Witsel and Defour in MC as Advanced playmakers and then Hazard playing at AMC as trequartista. When someone isnt fit, Defour drops back to DMC and Nainggolan and Rits come in. Really good squad and Mirralas is a beast.

I am pretty happy with how we are competing at the moment. We lie 4th in the league but we do have games in hand. Chelsea are still proving hard to beat and will keep doing so in thje season ahead. We will need to keep our heads down and make sure we play our best in every game. I am very pleased with how we are playing in Europe and are currently unbeaten in iour group. I expect it to stay that way and I expect us to qualify for the latter stages comfortably. We are also playing well in the Carling Cup with our youngsters so I dont see any need to change that policy.

My player of the month this month goes to Marco Verratti. Marco has played excellently this month and has come in with three goals from midfield. I bought him to the club for a very small amount of money and he has developed brilliantly into one of the best attacking midfielders in the league. I am very pleased with his play.

World Cup 2014 Group Draw

View attachment 76475

Daniel Oakes' Belgium side have had a decent draw in the group stages for World Cup 2014. Belgium have been drawn in Group A alongside fellow European side France, South Americans Uruguay and African side, Guinea.

Daniel Oakes said:
I am very happy with our group draw and it is one that we should easily progress from if we keep our recent form up. France are a very beatable side and Uruguay and Guinea are both sides that we would be looking to beat. I believe we can go a long way in Brazil.

Nice update pal, very glad to see this still going.

In response to the earlier question I am indeed a regular follower. Keep up the hard work for West Ham, you should be able to do well with Belgium as well :D.

We have gone through a tough month here at West Ham. We have had a busy four weeks playing eight games, six of which were away from home so we are tired from all of the travelling. We are not far behind Chelsea now and we also look forward to our run in Europe and our quarter final against Spurs in the Carling Cup.
