Ignore him JP, the guy is a grade A ****. the reason he thinks the game is has been declining since FM07 is because its beeen getting harder to exploit the AI, and you actually have to be able to play the game, rather than find some supertactic

really hope you do make a 442, its just such a classic formation.

yeah its got harder to make a 4-4-2, since the formation relies much more than others on partnerships across the field (between the two CBs, between the wingers and full backs, between the centre mids, between the strikers, between the strikers and centre mids) anywhere where the teams isnt balanced it suffers.

Started a new game on an edited db, basically swaped a regional team for a division II team in portugal, sorted finances according to the one swapped and that's all, and been using your tactic for every single game, I barely have team, only 8 seniors have "real" contracts (part-time ones) and the rest is just loans. The results:

- 1st Season I've saved my *** from relegation but the nice thing was my Goal Difference of -6 on the 11th place with 46 scored. Most of my team was 33+ older so defo this doesn't require top players. Best result being 5-1 against equally expectation team.

- 2nd Season got better players on loan but media just gave me the 11th position, finished 3rd with GD at +64 minus 5 points from the 1st. Best results being 7-2 and 5-0 to equally expectation teams.

Personal Record of 42% wins, 112 scored, 87 taken. I'm happy about it <)

Starting 3rd season, will keep that tactic and will also keep using it on the Genoa story (when it kicks off).

The best of it is he is actually a regular member called njengamn,he made another account the other day simply to give me stick.He cant know i can see everyones ip address.Even funnier when he first give me stick he quickly logged back in as njengamn again and replied to himself lol(posts 258 and 259). Sad ****!

Sorry JP.....It's good.....I'm using it with Braga I've had some good results and some bad.....I lost to Olhanse(sp) 2-1 yet managed to beat APOEL 4-0 away......A lack of consistency(sp) has cost me my job.....:L And the tactics dont work very well for Norwich

wow i never thought of it like that. thats probably why when somone gets it right its so good! lol

thats why its still such a popular formation, when its right, its very very hard to beat, because its very versatile
 
i tried this with my man u game and worked great during pre season but ive lost to chelsea in chairty 3-0 and 5 in a row in the league not sure why... even lost to stoke 3-1 at OT so somethings gone wrong for me :) but id love to try the 442
 
Hey man this is a wonderful tactic. It's a lot more effective than Goals Galore or Complete Dominance.

Just one question: Do we have to play target man or playmaker?

I wont upload anything until im happy with it,im busy at work at the moment so dont have time to properly test.
 
Love to see you're 4-4-2. But 1.1 is simply brilliant mate. Bravo.
 
This tactic for me with Arsenal, Millwall and especially Bolton who scored double their entire 1st season total in half a season when i swithed to this at the start of my second season.
Tip for lower league teams:
Change the long shots for the centre mids to rarely if you have cm with low stats, my millwall side were scoring very little until i took the long shots down and started banging in 2 or 3 almost every game.
 
4-4-2 seems a lot more effective than the 4-2-3-1 that I had run a lot of. (Also yours)

What do you set your 2nd striker to?? I assume you still have a poacher, I have the other as Advanced Forward right now.

I did notice that I got better results when I switched it to DLF.

After more testing I am still finding the 4-2-3-1 more successful than the 4-4-2, maybe it is my players, I used retain possession and work ball into box from the start and it seems to help too.
 
i just lost cesc and hamsik to injury on my arsenal save and my team and my team seems a lot worse at keeping ball i didnt think two players made that big a difference
