Hi Koklof, i'm testing your tactic for a whole season with "DEFENSA Y JUSTICIA" a average team from the second division of argentine league (i'm from Argentina). Your tactic is so great that i want to share it in a spanish blog, of course you will get all the credit. i'll put a link to this forum/thread for the people who wants to download it. I'll wait for your confirmation. Thanks you very much.

Sorry about my english, it's very rusty.

I bought vorsah who looks to me like hes a perfect candidate to play the cover defender role so ill give it a go.

Hello, I picked up on this tactic last week and have given it a full go on a new season. Started unemployed and got a job with Pacos de Ferreira in Portugal.

Not a great side and no money, so I wasn't able to really get the best players in the best spots - simply made do with what I had. Took some time to retrain left footed players on the right and vice versa, but can see the benefits of doing this!

I was impressed with the tactic thank you. Not expecting to pick up points against the big 3 sides (SLB, FCP & Sporting) I did however beat Braga 5-0 away and turned in some strong performances through the season finishing 5th and qualifying for the Europa League.

The tweaks you suggested above seemed to have paid dividends over the last 10 games of the season as my deep lying playmaker began to get more involved running with the ball. I've been trying to work out how to get the best of my fullbacks too, several people have pointed out they tend to get into great positions in space and then pass the ball away. I set them to cross from byline and they are now firing balls across at every opportunity when they get upfield.

Hopefully I'll pick up some money, or get a lucrative offer elsewhere but will keep testing the tactic out.

Awesome stuff man. Good job with the team btw.
Happy to see someone took time in prepping the tactic. And glad it pays of well for ya!

The red text : THAT! I've been trying to do that.
One too many time my fullback is at good position to cross but they decide to hold up the ball and pass it to midfield.
They're basically too reluctant to cross when there's open spaces but forces to cross when someone is closing them down.

So crossing byline did the trick huh? Never thought of it.

I always thought to try cross ball often, but afraid that the fullback will focus too much on crossing rather than opening up defences via passing ala Alves.

I will try the byline setting. Cool man thanks!

Sure thing, bud. Feel free to share it as long as you link back the download link here :D

Koflok i think that d-line is to much up that is problem for lower leauge team

Hopefully it will work for you, I found that the fullback actually crossed the ball anything up to 18 yards out, which was what I wanted. It's seemed to work so far, but I'm playing with a poor team though. Be interested to see how better players react to the instruction.

I did notice three or four assists from my fullbacks in this position in the first few games though. Adds a new dimension when getting forward, especially as my players don't always have the ability to dribble through/around the opposition defences.

I'm trying to upload some screenshots. It worked before but I can't get it now. I am pressing F12 and it is coming up screenshot saved. When I go to paste it onto paint, it is not on the clipboard.

Works well, good read.
Thanks! u must have put in lots of effort :)

This is kindof like arsenal's 03/04 style. Anchor man clears and beefs up the midfield while the wingers are the creative players instead of those in the middle of the park.

Well if you're playing with lower league you can always make it deeper yourself.
That's why I recommend tweaking.

The current settings are the 'base' if you like. It's the best for my current team, not gonna be the same to others.

Cool. Sounds exactly like I wanted.
I'm gonna try it out for a couple of games tomorrow.

I think F12 makes it saved to a folder somewhere I'm not sure.
If you want to get screenshots via copy-paste style, press 'Prt Scr' and paste it on paint.

Koflox, I have played the guts of a season with Wolves in the Premier League. I've about 6 weeks left in the season, but I learned enough to comment at this stage.

Anyway, the season itself started out very well. I beat Man City 4-2 at home in my first game. I had a lot of victories at the start, mainly thanks to some inspirational goalkeeping from my AMR Wes Hoolahan.

It didn't take long to start going downhill though. I noticed that I was usually very poor in the first half, and was only better in the second following a motivational speech. My best chance seems to be when I am 1-0 down at half time, as I can be angry and my players will react. Still, a lot of the time I am coming out with draws. Anyway, I got some good results over the season, beating Man City 3 times, Chelsea and Man Utd once. But I also drew at home to QPR who were 20th, and lost to teams like Bolton easily and Swansea.

Here are two screenshots anyway (How do you post those smaller screenshots?)

I can't really understand why it has gone so wrong, as I hadn't really changed anything. I have a pretty good team, I got rid of everyone I could and brought in Richard Dunne, James McCarthy, Wes Hoolahan, David Meyler and I got Thiago & Jonathan Dos Santos on loan.

With decent players already there such as Wayne Hennessy, Kevin Foley, Roger Johnson, Stephen Ward, Stephen Hunt, Jamie O'Hara, Matt Jarvis and Kevin Doyle, I have a pretty good team.

The players don't seem to get motivated at the start of the game. If I'm expected to win, I tell them, but maybe only one will get motivated. The same on the individual team talks.

A lot of teams seem to get in behind my defence running through freely on goal. Richard Dunne and Roger Johnson have decent pace, but get constantly beaten, even my slow players.

I'm going to continue to the end of the season and see how I get on. My team are also fluid in Raikon's tactics but I haven't used that. That is for the second season.

As you can see anyway from the screenshots, my team is suffering a run of poor results and they can only seem to get results in the cup.

I can't find that folder wherever it is! Prt Scr doesn't work with Steam. F12 works as that but it isn't copied to be pasted for whatever reason.

Yes the angry pep talk at half time when down 1-0 always seems effective.

To be fair 6th place for Wolves is decent, really. But maybe it could've been better.

I noticed you brought a lot of player. That might cause the instability in the team. I mean the team hasn't really gelled with one another yet. You can look at the assistant advice during games. I recommend having 'Teamwork' as focus training.

It will certainly make your team perform better in the second season. So upper hand on that one.

Ok regarding the high defensive line + high pressing. It seems like it's not for everybody. May I recommend playing a deeper line, try normal d-line, just 1 notch just before deep with the offside trap turned off.

I'm no good at motivation myself so yeah sorry can't be much of a help there man.

Final thing, thank you for the detailed feedback. Exactly what I was needed.
Hopefully it'll do better..

Lol I've always been a copy-paste guy usually since I don't play full window. idk shouldn't it be in Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2012 or something?

I have teamwork as focus training at the moment. I'll be playing for the evening, so I'll update as I go along. I'll have a look at the defensive line.

Koflok you hear for club Partizan i am dominante in my leauge but in champions group i get 3-4 gols conceded and i score bad.
to try normal d-line and offside off ?

hey guys!
currently playing with Napoli, and I must admit it works...I am a big fan of those game,I play it every day for four-five hours(H)

very nice tactic, playing on beta2 version. won polish league with Lech Poznan with advantage of 20points. rudnevs scored 27 goals in 28 matches in league. i've got 65:18 overall. now gonna pwnd champions league! i hope that i will make it to the groups ;p

Kolfok,

I tried that tactic and continued losing with Wolves. For some reason, it just continues to leak goals at an alarming rate.

I lost 8-3 to Chelsea and drew 4-4 with Spurs. I uploaded the Spurs goals but when I was doing the Chelsea one, the game crashed. I hadn't actually saved it, so I would have had to replay about 8 games. I've just gone on holiday.

Anyway, the Spurs goals are here.

I don't know how to stop them leaking so many goals. Richard Dunne & Roger Johnson are a fairly decent partnership. I tried changing the defensive line without success.

Well to be fair UCL is a far different level from the league.
If fast players are able to get around you offside trap and all that, then yes turn that off.
Another thing is you can play more defensively. Set your mentality to standard for example, with fullback role at defensive instead of attacking.

Awesome stuff man. dont forget to eat. lol
Thanks for the help.

I can use some help with defense on the wings. Have been conceding tons from there.

Good stuff! Glad it's working for ya.
Fingers crossed. May I sugges playing more defensive would help against the big guys on UCL. Unless you got simiarly less player

Thank you for the vid. That clears up a lot!

Ok so I notice that the goals are leaking from the wings. I thoght it was over the top balls which strikers run passing your defender.

Ok since you're Wolves, try this.

FBR/L = Change role from attacking (or auto) to support
Set crossing to often
Tackling hard

Tomorrow is my last exam. Wish me luck so that I can start working on the tactic again :D

Cheers
